Wow i used hammer it sucks, google maps is great as a back up and speed traps and traffic updates but i couldn't rely on those two as my everyday maps no way.. As soon as you said “I’m going to call dispatch” I knew what was about to happen. Even at another LTL company, I learned early on not to question things if dispatch seems to have made an error in my favor. Now, if you were dispatched to Dallas with Waco freight, that’s another story! Nothing to lose by calling in and offering to do a VIA.
The flat spots/bumpy tires also comes from irregular tire pressure. For instance, the outer tire could have 95psi and the inner could have 80psi. When loaded the inner is working harder than the outer because of lower air pressure. Also when I tire heats up the air molecules expand causing wear on the tire. You can do this test yourself: Next time you pre trip your truck before sunrise and the truck sat all night, check the air pressure on 1 tire and record it. After sunrise and driving around check the pressure again on the same tire, the number should be higher than what was 1st recorded...

My old buddy is 75 now . He drove for Preston 26 years . We road sleeper team together 7 years . You get to know each other very well in Volvo White Air Starter with a 40 inch bunk . I still hear Dennis saying slow down Kevin I'm getting old when we was 5aking chains off in Utah around Richfield on I 70 in the mountains. I was 36 at the time and he was 57 . We talk from time to time and laugh because I'm 58 now lol 😂. If I was smart I would stayed with Bullfrog, ABF in 2004 in Springfield Illinois but I stayed with Roadway after yellow bought them . We knew Roadway would be destroyed. My old buddy went through at Preston. I've been back with ABF 10 months now . I got 4 years to ride if I want my full pension. I've been in the union 35 years

From what I’ve been told, Yellow hauled crappy, cheap freight. They were the last true low-cost LTL carrier. ABF hasn’t wanted to take any of their cheap freight that they hauled.

Not possible now, at least now here. Some of our longest bids out of Dallas top out at 4000ish miles a week but it’s hard to hit that as an extra board driver without high seniority. I can’t imagine how hard 5000 mile weeks were on your body. I bet you’re feeling the affects of that now.

Welp, personal opinion inbound: When you have a nationwide company where the culture becomes "They told me to...", the waste can accumulate quickly. Union or not. Central probably has the ability to make notes on drivers, so, hopefully that just added a "feather to your cap". If I were CEO it would've.....
Proud to be a 36 year teamster. I learned how to drive a truck from teamsters from the 50s and 60s and 1970s in when I was a kid in the 70s . I've been at thus trucking thing since September 1983 . All the companies are gone and the real professionals are gone . The knights of the road
They don't order any sleeper cabs, can see the driver side fine, so only passenger side hood mirror. And it may sound cheap/little, but cost saver as well.

The flat spots is from someone dragging the trailer with the brakes on or locking down the brakes .

Yessir, most of them have been turned up to 70. Some roll 71-72 depending on tires.

They are RAM mounts. A little pricey but very high quality. I talk about them more in my video that I describe my road gear that I bring with me.

How down you do a pre trip by kicking your tires with your boots.
My bad man. I’ll start checking the tires with a pressure gauge and call a roadside mechanic when they are a few PSI low.
Why do abf trucks only come with one hood mirror?

Why do you need a hood mirror? You’re almost driving a cabover with that sloped hood.
Probably insurance requires it.
