Seems like a technical driver and knows what he’s talking about but why did he go off the track on turns ? Is that because of the sharp angles of turn / speed ?
It’s completely different. The auto c7 z feels faster than the c8 z on launch because of the low down torque. C8 hooks up better with the weight over the rear and sharper turn in. Intoxicating sounds from the flat plane chasing revs higher and higher. Dual clutch is way better than the c7 auto 8 speed. The c8 has a much nicer interior and a great frunk for storing groceries or take out. If you go c7, the manual is a better car. It’s noticeably slower than the auto but way more fun and engaging to drive.
@@jlat31 hmmmmm, super hard to say. I think the strongest SS car currently is a 991.2 GT3 but next year with the GT4RS might change that. Not sure the C8Z factors in.
Was it in PTM Race? That's a pretty generous mode that allows a good bit of slip. I've heard from owners that there's further ways to turn all assists off, but I don't know what they are. Great laps!
@@Bj0rn248 nope, fully off. I think the sensation I described may the e-diff? There were a few moments where it felt like it softened the power delivery until the yaw angle decreased. Not sure though.
I think the throttle response mapping is different between the various PTM levels of track mode versus setting everything to max on Zee mode and turning ECS off. If you get an opportunity to drive another z06, don’t mess with Z mode. Simply choose track mode, then race 1 or race 2 PTM. I think race 2 has all ECS truely off with the most aggressive throttle mapping.
From the manual… HIGH-PERFORMANCE DRIVING FEATURES PTM MODES+ PTM 1 - WET is for wet or damp conditions. ESC is on and engine power is reduced based on conditions. PTM 2 - DRY is for dry conditions. ESC is on and engine power is slightly reduced. PTM 3 - SPORT 1 is for dry conditions. ESC is on and additional engine power is available. PTM 4 - SPORT 2 is for dry conditions. ESC is off and engine power is the same as PM 3. PTM 5 - RACE is for dry conditions. ESC is off and additional engine power is available for maximum cornering speed.
Screw that. Thats a good thing cuz they will be cheaper on the used market. And since there is no manual they wont go up crazy in value unless the c8 is the last ice corvette
@@Inferno45 the problem is when you’re spending $200,000 on a car you expect the value to hold at least for a year or two. My $163,000 z07 is selling for $140,000 now. That’s unacceptable for this quality of car. I sold it and bought a huracan
Z mode is just a mode memory, it was set up to remember Race mode for power, suspension, steering, then I turned off stability control manually after that. GM engineers I've talked to since confirmed that I had everything fully off except ABS.
Bro cant handle the car and still complains about it. Its not a gt3 rs. Its a corvette. Sure its track car but the main selling point of the zo6 is the cool engine for the value.
Hell yes. More of this plz. Love the live commentary.
This is great Tom! The random giggles 😂
Perfect videos. To the point, fun, and no wasted time. 👍
Awesome!
DUUUUUDE this is SO GOOD!
What was the alignment? Stock or track??
Why did not you to switch S or Track mode on? would be more fun ;)

Hopefully this driving car series goes on! I LOVE IT. I'm sure it'll become your content that gives you lots of views
That was fun to watch with your commentary! I wonder what your thoughts are of this vs the GT3 that you drove at One Lap.
Have you driven a C7 06? How would you compare them?

Sweet. Never noticed the rolly rear stuff you mentioned. Was it lowered all the way?
What's with the jerkin around with the steering wheel?
Pissn me off too
There's a lot of weight and power coming from the back and he's not use to that.
Thank you for making this video! Would you take a C8 Z06 over a 718 GT4 for an SS car? I highly value your opinion! Thanks in advance

Maybe try a gamepad next time.

As a new owner what upsets me is Chevy is over producing the Z06. They promised no more than 20% of total C8 production and they’re up to 36%

Z07 is far better even
