- This isn't a new GTA review for the PS3 or Xbox 360... this is 1999! Classic Game Room season 1 - December 8, 1999.
Back in the day before Game Room had a green screen, lighting or a real microphone they reviewed GTA2 for the PS1. Too bad they didn't get to review GTA Vice City, San Andreas, GTA3 or... but maybe, just maybe someday they will.
This was their 2nd episodic review and the GTA series is now one of the most profitable of all time. You play a thug, gangsta low life criminal and damn it's fun!!
Classic Game Room was the first classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999 and 2000. They reviewed Atari games, Sega Genesis, NES, N64, Nintendo, Jaguar and PSX (ps1) games. The story of the show is on DVD and available at Amazon.com - บันเทิง
This video is kinda magic, its like a blast from the past. This video was recorded before GTA3 came out, and it really shows how much people loved this game.
It puts a smile on my face
I just love the way GTA 2 sits in "the cool corner" and says "fuck you, you will never be as cool as me" to the rest of the series.
This game fucking sucks! I hate the over head view
This games is classic
ok that's you're opinion, other people like me really enjoyed this game.
GTA V: People still play me so I'm not worried..... I don't even think you're on Xbox Live or PSN.
GTA San Andreas: Boy............*Bust out laughing*
((Sorry if I misspelled the name))
BananaTheBad a 14 year old kid without a soul spotted.
First ever GTA game I've played. Really loved to screw around in that tank. Good times, goooood times.
I renember having this game too.. it was fun
gta 3 was the first then chinatown wars mobile :)
Coming to this video to show my boyfriend the “original gta”. God the memories. Though, I was waiting for the moment where I would hear “gimme yo money”
What I hate about GTA fans, is that they praise this series to death, but don't recognize GTA 1,2, London, Advance and Chinatown Wars as "real" GTA games.
OH... MY... GOD...
I remember playing the hell out of GTA Mission Pack #1 London.
I played the hell out of it on my PS1 and my mom could never get me off of the system. Now I officially own all of them.
Gta 1 PS1
Gta London 1969 PS1
Gta 2 PS1
Gta 3 PS2
Gta Vice City PS2
Gta San Andreas PS2
Gta Advance Gameboy Advance
Gta IV Xbox 360 and PC
Gta Chinatown Wars DS and iOS
Gta Episodes From Liberty City: TLAD and TBOGT
Gta 3 iOS
Gta Vice City iOS and Amazon app store
Gta San Andreas iOS and Amazon app store
and Gta V Xbox 360 and soon to be on PC on March 18!
I will always remain a loyal fan to GTA.
***** I also almost forgot Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories both on the PSP and the PS2. They were fun
Awesome :)
I really really wish R* would revisit London, getting a bit tired of GTA set in the US of A.
JonasTheJay don't forget Chinatown wars
Miss those days!! I used to play this a lot in 2000-01..
I'm just speechless at how much disrespect people give to this game. I mean there has never been a bad gta game and those 9 year olds just think they've played all the games for hours, found all the secrets and have come to the conclusion that 2 sucks and 5 is the best game ever
I love GTA 2 but i hate the PS1 version. Its so watered down both graphically & sound wise its night & day.
The PS1 has
Longer Load Times
Missing vehicles & no fast travel.
Missing or outright inferior sound effects & details.
Lower Frame Rate
Censored language violence and missions such as blood puddles being removed in the ps1 version.
No Day/Night option
Missing radio stations & music
And just outright a bad port.
However for people in 1999 who couldnt afford a beefy computer or didnt have one i could see it being the alternative for playing the full game.
@@grumpyguy112 still they did what they could at the time
@@someguy8951 Back then yeah i wouldve agreed and actually owned the PS1 port. But nowadays its better to just play the PC port.
@@grumpyguy112 yeah pretty much but compared to the PS1 version of GTA 1, then it was pretty much an improvement in every way
@@grumpyguy112 Although at least it has some better mussion design and in the second level the car crusher is close to the save point. So its a bit more fair to play.
i like world of gta 2 more than any other gta games, and its what i mostly wanted them to bring back in 3d world, the Respect meter, car crushers that rewards you with weapons, near futuristic era, electro guns, coolest syndicates like Zaibatsu, SRS scientists and Yakuza, well they did bring Yakuza in Gta 3, still, this was what Gta truly meant to me and i've seen Gta becoming just generic crime simulator after another.
I was in 8th grade when this game came out..classic indeed but the kids that where born in 2000 don't know how big in gaming this was and controversial at the time
Exactly!
best game ever. police chases in this are pure epicness
I just love hearing you talk about this game as if it was new :D
my favorite thing was being able to fart and burp tbh lol
When I was really young, a gaming magazine rated GTA2 very low. That low rating delayed my first time playing GTA for about 1-2 years. Fuck Magazine Articles and their opinions.
I can relate to that!
+ted714 Yeah, it wasn't very well reviewed but nothing was going to stop me getting this because GTA was such a big thing for me.
"you are a lone shark!.. er uh, not a loan shark, but like.. you are a lone ranger!"
That had me cracking up
Without this game we wouldn't have GTA 5
you guys have really chill voices and personalities, they're definitely fit for radio
Those days man. I miss those days.
It's great watching these reviews, for they were recorded upon the ACTUAL release of the game, so you have a real/genuine opinion, compared to most younger reviewers/jaded vets, after having been exposed to 'newer' gaming titles, with modern graphics.
Used to play this for windows 95
I remember this game. I also remember the day that I played it for the first time was the day a former friend kicked me out his house and told me to fuck off.
"Violent games are for introverted sociopaths."
That's a shirt waiting to happen.
Ahhh this was the first CGR review i ever saw, and the reason i subscribed
This is what gta looked like 15 years ago. Looks like a random game on a website.
I miss this game! Amazing improvement from then to now :)
Anybody wondering why 1 and 2 weren't ported to mobile? I mean, Most of the classic gta's have been like San Andreas or Vice City, but not one and two? I don't get it.
The first two games were sadly not as popular as the later entries. But yeah, I would have loved to get _GTA 2_ on my Kindle tablet. I wonder though if it's possible for Rockstar to actually port them to mobile devices.
TheShadowWalker Emulators m8. A potato can emulate these games
I don't really like country that much, but in GTA 1 it is completely fitting.
why the fuck is this not on the playstation store ?
innit
Great review, i guess i will try to make a comparsion between ps and pc version in a next video.
I loved this game!!!!
Puts a smile on my face ! Had so much fun on this game back in the day
still better then gta 5 haha
Damn right
Lmao nostalgia people... Smh
dragonballzkai9283 I was joking but a'ight
I grew up with this awesome game :O the soundtrack makes me cry :') so many good memories
Well honestly GTA has gotten trashy.. GTA V removed all the key features that made the older ones better.. GTA IV was good and all but coming from San Andreas and then the you could say "dumbed down" game it was pathetic! I much rather would play old GTAs! GTA IV I must admit had amazing multiplayer but it does not compare to GTA SA MultiPlayer!! Search it up it is an amazing game! I did not like GTA IV partly because there was no Planes, Vegetation, one city and all of that while I know the older ones had no Planes, Vegetation and one city coming from San Andreas to GTA IV made IV seem absolutely pathetic! Don't get me started on GTA V, it is just a blood pool of "Crime Families" "Gangs" and the rest when they are a bunch of 7 year olds going "I'm Don Martini, mess with me and I will fuck you up!" Nobody has respect for GTA anymore it seems, all they think of is the graphics no longer the amazing scale, mechanics and the additional content in the older GTAs! I played a good 50 days of gameplay within 3 months so don't say I am a noob at GTA V and I am just complaining because I haven't played it. I have over 20k hours on each GTA apart from the dreadful number 5! I would rather any day an good ole' GTA rather than GTA V, GTA IV was good though..
I REST MY CASE!
"All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!" - Smoke
"You're just a liability CJ!" - Ryder
Too all you newbies to the franchise!
"I always knew you was a straight busta'."
shutup no one cares
What are you even talking abut.
Yea man the new GTAs are nothing like the old ones. My personal favorites are
GTA 3 and GTA sanandreas.
people who dont like gta 5 are the same people who complain about everthing thats out right now
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! GTA has gotten better, not worse!
“GTA 1 & 2 is all about being a bad mofo” haha
Gta london came out before gta 2
gta 5 is better
no dip
no its not your mom is
Well....yeah. That one is the latest one but you can't ignore how cool 2 is
of course it is, but you can't compare that to gta 2
Get back into your crib.
oldschool youtube...luv it!
I still wont forget going to the video store with my buddy when we were 9 or 10. We each got a game to rent and this was one of them. Many sleepless night occurred afterwords.
i'm drooling right now, this looks like so much fun
So far, this was the only Grand Theft Auto game I played, and it was back in 1999 (at age 7), some months before I ever got the original PlayStation.
The Circle button was extremely special in this game.
*Fart* *burp* :D
A title screen for a review of GTA2 that has flowers and classical music in the background.
Fitting.
Jeez the tank is OP as all hell! Could use a radio though.
I would have to say the jump from gta 2 to gta 3 was def the biggest. In just around 2 years the game has basically set the standard for all the upcoming gtas after that.
I was in 8th grade when i got introduced to this game. Thanks dad for the game and PS1!
I can remember myself at the age of 8-9 ( now I am 21) playing this with my friends. It was huge fun back then, and i watch this video with a smile, remembering those classic games MOH, Syphon filter, GTA, CTR and others... They dont make such fun nowadays... Now
No problem! Dude! You gotta love the classics!
I can't believe there weren't any Bumblebee jokes when he stole the first car!
My oldest, earliest memory...was playing this game with my dad on the ps1, even though its a memory which is literally a couple seconds long which was getting electrocuted on the traintracks and being able to see your skeleton as a result, I just turned to my dad in hysterics for some reason...damn that was such a long time ago, that was literally a couple months before Gta III came out, I also remember my first time playing that too.
I think Im going to cry.
"When is this game out?"
It came out in 1999, and it's free now.
The gang system in GTA2 was great! When gang thrusted you, you could do missions for them & they helped you sometimes, but when they hated you they attacked you on their territory. I really loved it.
Too bad they didn't put this on GTA3 or any other GTA game
''Here's me, punching a cop. Then he gets run over.'' :D
This was SUCH a fun game!
this brings back soooo many great memories, hell, I'd still play this if given the chance.
it is free on the rockstar site
I remember playing this game with my brother back in 2001! Oh the memeries!!!
And what were your reactions to gta 3 in 2001
I forget just how unusual it was to have a game where you play the unapologetic criminal. Hearing them explain the basics of GTA is weird too as everyone is so familiar with it now.
Best game in 1999 best graphifcs.
Back in the late 90's, this type of game was cutting-edge and revolutionary... It's badass.
who is the other guy? he still doing reviews?
5:19 'There is me punching on a cop, than he gets run over.'
Best scene in the video!
Good thing I got this in junior high. Everyone was expecting me to go on a shooting spree. But it was prevented!
I was excited when I picked this up on Steam, however the controller support is VERY poorly implemented.
It would actually be nice to see this updated to todays type of standards. With a map menu, that alone would do wonders in improving gameplay.
I grew up with this awesome game :O the soundtrack makes me cry :') so many good memories.. In that time it was the best game evaaah
that feel when this game didn't run on my pc because my pc was too old
Are you ever going to review GTA 1 on PlayStaion & GTA 2 again, but on Dreamcast?
I basically play Skyrim like a GTA game, killing, stealing, stealing horses, and then running from the guards.
Nice GTA 2! I HAD THIS! Miss it ~ nice vid
Damn the 2nd installment of a Legendary Franchise, released in 1999 (15 years ago),this was also when Driver just started.
i wish that this birds eye view camera angle was available on the more newer versions of gta titles
Its last use was in Grand Theft Auto 3, for the PlayStation 2. It was an optional camera position.
woah, an original CGR review. Epic
I remember this 11 years ago. I was a raving lunatic. I wouldn't do the missions, I would just plow everything down with glee.
Holly shit, the GTA franchise was not created on the PS2 era !
where did they aired classic game room before youtube? apologize my ignorance
yes...it defines the gaming we are all looking for...
I remember askng my mum to get me some monster truck game for pc when I was a kid, and she spent all night on the pc trying to find it, and in the morning downloaded this and asked if it was the game. I was dissapointed when it wasn't, then I realized that this game was the fucking coolest game ever, and I played it every day for a long long time.
I love this game.
they're not going to check it it was made seven years ago
If they were this exited for the game then imagine the reaction when Gta 3 came out.
really good review
Hey man, I'm 16 and I was brought up on sega. That was the shit. I know how far this has come. haha.
I remember my cousin showing me this game when i was really young and i remember thinking, awesomeness!!!!
I'm so glad they went for the realistic, 3D open world games they are now.
U people r awsome realy who doesn't love u people u guys make my day go back to PlayStation reviews
Played the shit out of this on the Dreamcast, never really played any of the story, just used cheat codes to give all weapons and shit. Was fun as fuck. 10/10 would play again.
I'd go too the auto shops and load up with land mines and drop them on the sidewalk then watch the pedestrians walk over them and fly off the screen. lol Oil slicks and landmines hell yeah!!!!
I Love Your Channel!
how epic! it takes me years back!
You're right . Rockstar did one of the best PC games ever! When GTA 3 appeared it was cheered on PS but the PC versions were good to. These days Rockstar releases crappy PC ports if they even bother to release a port. :(
Your on DVD! Awsom
Damn ! I played this game for like 21hours a day >< , I still got The collection discs ''gta , gta2 , gta London'' ..Great days ..
I bought this game back in the day when i was 15!
Strangely my mind wasn't warped by little 2D men shooting at each other and stealing cars.
1:47 "activate assassin" What is he some kind of robot? :D
MEMORIES!! :D
I wanted to download this game on Rockstar Classics, but they said the free download series is currently unavailable! Is there any other virus free websites where I can download the full version of the game for free.
woooaah, I forgot about the menu-music. this made me smile just as the menu-music from the first tony hawks.
classic 90's videogame funk.
I don't think Rockstar understood either. There are loads of inconsistencies when it comes to that. But its actually meant to be set in the future. With a sort of retro futuristic art style. (Like Futurama) which explains the 1950's looking cars.
Its sad how forgotten thids game is. I played Gta 1, 2, London, 3, vice city, san andreas, and IV...
but I still own and play 2 on ps1. I just love how non linear it is, and truly wish rockstar would bring it for a Gta anniversary or somethinf
here is me, posting a comment : )
great game by the way
i own grand theft auto 1 for the ps1, and i'm thinking about buying gta 2. how does this compare to the first one?
They do run around on fire, it's just the graphics for the PSX version are so low res & washed out you can't see it like you can on the PC. The bullets are hard to see on the PSX version too
what's the song of the main menu song?
the song is so fantastic *-*
How are the controls on the orig ps1 controller and is it compatiable with dushock?
Remember: The protagonist in GTA2 is named Claude Speed. The protagonist in GTA3 is just named Claude.
Bring back the Zaibatsu corporation!
