The ropes are durable and just like the ones at the gym. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTFxba6lNeHrZaHoY_LXe6ZzmMfaipnwu Caution: I bought the 50 feet ropes and they are long and heavy so make sure you have the space (I do have the space). If I was to do it again I would probably get a shorter version as 50 feet (25 feet each side) is a little long.

Which type will be more suitable for classic mountaineering/alpinism/andinism? Is a half rope just ok o it needs to be a heavy single rope for glacier crossing or going up though a gully?
Sebastián Arsenio Morales Zavala if you’re just roping up for glacier travel you would generally use a very thin diameter dry treated single rope in a 30-40 meter length. If long technical rock/ice pitches are in the climb then the rope would probably be adjusted in length to account for that.

I'm not a climber in any way. I'm as green and noodle-armed as they come. I'm going to my first class soon, and even I understood this.

I dont get it. Those ropes are thousands of pounds rated. They dont need to be 11mm thick. Unless you weight like a ford excursion
When you fall, you can exert a lot more force on the rope than your weight.

Meters, ????????.. Could you throw in. Feet... 120 foot long.. 150 foot long rope... Diameter of rope.. = 3/8- inch- 7/16- inch... 3/4 inch..

We are not so much into the metric system... It's bad enough with wrenching on vehicles..
My self I love learning more/ hitches, knots.. Bends...

just multiply by 3.3. It's not super challenging
Climbing ropes aren't really sold with feet and inches as the measurement. Its all metric measurements. Even American companies use metric for climbing ropes.
Use an online conversion chart if you really need to know the imperial measurements.
They sell them in metric... So don't be rude and embarrass the rest of us
I think of a meter as a yard, approx 3ft. It’s not exact but you can do the exact math later 👍
