Samantha Henry a lot of black employees have spoken out about being mistreated, and the ceo admitted to treating black employees worse than white employees. they made a post on instagram about it. the ceo stepped down and personally i’m going to wait to see if there’s lasting change in the company. it sucks because i really loved everything i got from reformation but at the end of the day we vote with our wallet 🤷🏽♀️

Shelby, I just wanted to let you know I just made my first purchase on earth hero last night. I have a problem with dish soap, I go through it like crazy. It makes me cringe every time I have to throw out another plastic bottle. I told my husband that’s it I’m going to try a dish bar. At first I was going to purchase from The package free store, but changed my mind and decided to check out earth hero because I thought there would be more options. I went with the best seller bestowed essentials. I also got the bubble up brush. I can’t believe I am so excited to try outs cleaning supplies, LOL. Three months ago I switched over to wall dryer balls and I won’t go back to dryer sheets. Six months ago I switched to shampoo/conditioner bars and I won’t switch back either. Baby steps Shelby baby steps. Thank you for all of the info you put out there, it’s really appreciated.
If you want to try a good dish-washing block, the one from No Tox Life is pretty great. They're a small, woman-owned, family-run business based out of Los Angeles.
I got that same dish soap bar from earthhero and I love it! (Got one for my mom and she loves it too). Would never go back to the liquid soap. My husband was skeptical about the bar but and he is on board now too! I also use Dropps for my laundry and dishwasher too thanks to Shelbi :)
I relate with Madison. I don't buy new underwear until they're completely worn out. Unlucky for me, they're all starting to wear out one by one, and I can't go out to buy anything new now cos of the pandemic 😂🙈

I had a great experience with earth hero. Bought a conditioner from there that was supposed to come with a packet of seeds inside the packaging and it did, but the packet was empty. Nbd I let customer service know and I didn’t get a basic corporate BS response, I got a legit response and I got it FAST. Will definitely be shopping there on the site again. Wouldn’t have found it without your videos
I feel the same! Living in Italy, I find etsy is a nice compromise, you can sustain small "local" businesses, and some of the sellers are careful to use plastic free material in the packaging, too :)

I was looking for a sandal for showering because I am going to college in the fall and dorm bathrooms are gross. I have small feet and most thrift stores do not carry a shoes in my size. ngl I have to suggest getting a cheap $1 pair from Old Navy. I got one 15 years ago and I still use them over the flops my family have given me. Those things are a force to be reckoned.

Ahh you are just amazing, I love the body positive aura you give off. Its so tough to find ethical clothing. There are obvious nos (the really cheap fast fashion) but its not like a correlation of cost to ethics. I'm sure some of the most high level designers have shady practices too.
Luxury brands make their goods in sweatshops. Yeah even Burkin bags. And some of jewelry from luxury brands like Chanel or Gucci is made out of poor materials like brass. It is really not worth it
I love the brand "shift phone". I think it is just amazing that a brand makes sustainable technology where you can switch out parts by yourself. So you don't have to buy a new phone if something ist broken or you like just one part to be better.

My fairy lights went out after my cat chewed on them, and I was planning on replacing them. But I watched this video yesterday and after seeing the part about having your shoes re-soled, today I decided to try to fix them before turning straight to tossing them. I watched a short tutorial and a couple minutes later, they’re good as new. Thank you for doing what you do to inspire others ❤️

Your talking about the Okabashi shoes reminds me of my Glyphs! They're digitally knit to reduce wasted materials in manufacturing and they do that closed loop thing you mentioned where you can ship the shoes back for a discount on the next pair you buy. I wear them for everything: dog walks, gardening (keeps my feet dry when I get careless with the hose), and to work in the office (back when we did that...).

Hi, Shelby. Thanks for your time and sharing your learning with us! Okabashi has a subsidiary brand called Oka-B that has dressier, more embellished shoes, made of the same materials but in the same ways and also in GA. I’ve had a few pairs of their ballet flats and really loved them. I live in Phoenix, AZ so I can’t really wear them in the summer for work because they get way too hot and my feet get so sweaty they slip out of the shoes (TMI?). Check that side of the brand out for dressy shoes if you haven’t already! Yes, please to this being a series! I enjoy hearing your brand recommendations.

I love your channel and frequently watch from the television in my living room. Everytime my spouse comes in and sees you on he sits down and watches with me, he almost always talks about how he would like to see you do a crossover with Either Rose Anvil or Trenton & Heath, and today I got up from the living room and walked to the office just so I could comment this when I saw you mention resoling your birks! My spouse is a big shoe and boot enthusiast and so we both try to buy quality made shoes with a focus on the ability to re-sole them. A video in the style of yours with Hyram would be wonderful to see since shoe wear is something we *almost* all have to wear and while Okabashi is great some of us live in climates like New England and need something more rough and tough. I know this is a late comment for this particular video but I hope you'll see it!

I totally got that same "caring about the aesthetics" vibe from Package Free Shop. I don't like that they aren't transparent about what brands they carry -- they'll carry the FinalStraw but call it something like "Collapsible Straw" -- so it's harder to look up the full product lifecycle. Ah I should have mentioned that! I HATE how they don’t disclose the brand. I assume specifically so you can’t purposefully find it anywhere else and/or research it further.
I so appreciate your doing all the research on these companies, making it easier for us to do the right thing. Until you, I never dreamed that these clothing companies could be size-inclusive, for instance.
I'd love to see some info on sustainable products for outdoor activities. Many of us that love the planet like to get out in nature but not all of the products for those activities are good for the planet. I've been trying to compare gas stoves to alcohol stoves recently, and I think ethenol stoves are the best option.
Christy Dawn is expensive, but is slow fashion from dead stock fabric. Their dress makers are in the USA in a California factory that people can tour. They are also paid 22$ (may have gone up) and receive healthcare. Again, expensive but its important that you can actually read/see about the people who make your dress and know they are paid well and work in a healthy enviro. I love their dresses and they are size inclusive.

Awesome, thanks! I find it so hard to find plus size sustainable brands in the UK. 90-95% of my clothes are thrifted, but finding sustainable plus size underwear is really difficult in the UK, and tbh, a bit disheartening that the sizes stop at a ~UK14
when you get a chance, i'd be curious to know what you think about Alaffia. i think they're doing great things, but i know that their packaging at the moment is in plastic which could be a bummer for some people. i'd also like to see how you would weigh those things (doing wonderful things for artisans + the planet but having plastic in the packaging)? Alaffia is available at Target and Walmart which tends to be fairly accessible for most people in the US.
This would be such a good series! I'm currently, very slowly, reworking my closet to a style I feel much more comfortable in and will wear forever. I love being able to write down brands I can trust that will help me in the journey! Also, these are some great ideas to look at for holiday presents!

Your talking about the Okabashi shoes reminds me of my Glyphs! They're digitally knit to reduce wasted materials in manufacturing and they do that closed loop thing you mentioned where you can ship the shoes back for a discount on the next pair you buy. I wear them for everything: dog walks, gardening (keeps my feet dry when I get careless with the hose), and to work in the office (back when we did that...).

Okabashi has a subsidiary brand called Oka-B that has dressier, more embellished shoes, made of the same materials but in the same ways and also in GA. I’ve had a few pairs of their ballet flats and really loved them. I live in Phoenix, AZ so I can’t really wear them in the summer for work because they get way too hot and my feet get so sweaty they slip out of the shoes (TMI?). Check that side of the brand out for dressy shoes if you haven’t already!

I love your channel and frequently watch from the television in my living room. Everytime my spouse comes in and sees you on he sits down and watches with me, he almost always talks about how he would like to see you do a crossover with Either Rose Anvil or Trenton & Heath, and today I got up from the living room and walked to the office just so I could comment this when I saw you mention resoling your birks! My spouse is a big shoe and boot enthusiast and so we both try to buy quality made shoes with a focus on the ability to re-sole them. A video in the style of yours with Hyram would be wonderful to see since shoe wear is something we *almost* all have to wear and while Okabashi is great some of us live in climates like New England and need something more rough and tough. I know this is a late comment for this particular video but I hope you'll see it!

I totally got that same "caring about the aesthetics" vibe from Package Free Shop. I don't like that they aren't transparent about what brands they carry -- they'll carry the FinalStraw but call it something like "Collapsible Straw" -- so it's harder to look up the full product lifecycle. Ah I should have mentioned that! I HATE how they don’t disclose the brand. I assume specifically so you can’t purposefully find it anywhere else and/or research it further.
Shelbizleee it also made me think that they were creating a lot of this stuff themselves until I realized what they were doing 😩 a little shady imo!
I heard they bulk buy from China and some people say you can find those items they sell in AliExpress ....

I'd love to see some info on sustainable products for outdoor activities. Many of us that love the planet like to get out in nature but not all of the products for those activities are good for the planet. I've been trying to compare gas stoves to alcohol stoves recently, and I think ethenol stoves are the best option.

Christy Dawn is expensive, but is slow fashion from dead stock fabric. Their dress makers are in the USA in a California factory that people can tour. They are also paid 22$ (may have gone up) and receive healthcare. Again, expensive but its important that you can actually read/see about the people who make your dress and know they are paid well and work in a healthy enviro. I love their dresses and they are size inclusive.

These are great and I’ve never heard of most of them! I actually just purchased my first Tomboy underwear and they’re super comfortable.
Awesome, thanks! I find it so hard to find plus size sustainable brands in the UK. 90-95% of my clothes are thrifted, but finding sustainable plus size underwear is really difficult in the UK, and tbh, a bit disheartening that the sizes stop at a ~UK14
when you get a chance, i'd be curious to know what you think about Alaffia. i think they're doing great things, but i know that their packaging at the moment is in plastic which could be a bummer for some people. i'd also like to see how you would weigh those things (doing wonderful things for artisans + the planet but having plastic in the packaging)? Alaffia is available at Target and Walmart which tends to be fairly accessible for most people in the US.

This would be such a good series! I'm currently, very slowly, reworking my closet to a style I feel much more comfortable in and will wear forever. I love being able to write down brands I can trust that will help me in the journey!
