That was just fantastic! I remember seeing these at air shows in England and they were just fantastic to watch the raw power! Bravo to all that worked in the building of it! 👏👏👏👏👏👍
Takes me back to airshows in the 70s. Seeing a real one go vertical just after takeoff ( noise was beyond explanation) woman and kids where screaming and crying.... It was the absolute beast everyone tells you about 👍
I really appreciate the very scale-like, smooth flying style. Anybody can jerk an aircraft around like a fibrillating mass of jelly; it takes real skill to pilot one so realistically. Thoroughly enjoyable video, and great job bringing back the Lightning👋👍.
Shame you couldn't have bought a real English electric lightning. There were many of them parked at RAF Wildenrath in Germany near the B221 road, close to our fuel depot at Arsbach, close to the Dutch German border and a few miles down the road from RAF Wildenrath.
Iconic aircraft .. saw them operating out of RAF Tengah in Singapore mid 60’s was at school then and classroom overlooked the airfield and as kids we were shown around the planes in the hangers on day .. they say everyday is a school day .. this certainly was
very realistic take off !...................................................................................................and landing ! excellent work
I used to repair the odd bit of one of these at 30MU, gennies, flight control, the odd clock. The nickname on the line for them was "mildly guided missiles"
Beautiful model and beautifully flown. It’s rare to see a scale jet flown so well and in such a scale manner which is even more impressive with a type of aircraft that is known to be hard to handle. Great flying sir.
Fabulous. As iconic and beautiful in its own way as other notable swept wing classics. Beautifully flown too, though power doesn't look quite enough for doing the vertical climb of the fullsize? No matter, its scale flying speed overall is spot on. Love it 👍
Traditional built with wood and covered with proskin in parts 2 jet cat 220 turbines, Futaba radio with powerbox unit, retracts/brakes etc scrach built by the late Harold Dowbekin, also Ted Alison the builder of the model as also sadly past away one of only two built from his plan at true 1/4 scale.
It’s a gorgeous model, Large scale indeed!! Takes a ton of skill and nerve to fly something that big especially in an unforgiving sky. The exposed servos on the stabilizers are a minor detraction but probably greatly simplifies construction?
*Very nice plane* but it's missing a strobe light and running lights. Thank you for sharing. I'm a life long atheist, as my family is secular and from Sweden. Wishing you all Holiday cheer. Thousands of years ago long before Jesus, way back in the Neolithic, It is the Sun which is rebirthed in the passageway of an ancient tomb, the Grand Passage Tomb in the Boyne Valley, Newgrange Ireland. In 1350 BCE Amenhotep the fourth created a monotheistic god from the solar disk, then known as the Aten. Some of Amenhotep's work can be found in the bible as Psalm 104 also known as "The Great Hymn to the Aten". Christians pay homage to this man after a prayer, "Amen". Today our hearts bring back the Light in a celebration from Scandinavia which lasts over several days during the winter solstice known as "Yule". Predating Christianity and originating thousands of years ago. Known as a Norse festival called "jol" named after the Norse god Odin. The Norse being the ancestors of Vikings with the ancestor of the Vikings dating back over 12000 years ago in Scandinavia. The rebirth of the Sun being the oldest known winter solstice celebration, we celebrate the rebirth and the warmth of the Sunshine (Love, Peace, Happiness, Goodwill to man)… Have a Wonderful Winter's Solstice. Bring me Sunshine.
Thank you, it’s still in its rebuild stage, its yet to have a new colour scheme, not sure about the lights, but I would imagine they will be put on in time.
No it doesn't, but we are the Large Model Association, and most members are in it for that reason. It’s all regulated, and has to have paperwork from the CAA to fly.
we could only go to 400 ft, any higher you need a notam to warn full size you are operating model aircraft in that area and your flight celling, which can be up to 1500 feet
Great vid, no fake "Yea hars" and " whooping" from our Idiotic overbearing American cousins, just plain UK, lets get the job done stuff, and Oh, the Lightning was the real Dogs danglies, it was awsome!!!

The real thing could overtake Concorde and exceed Mach 1 in vertical flight I believe. The most impressive sight I ever saw and heard was a "squadron" of lLightnings taking off two by two on full reheat at Farnborough Airshow c1960

Thumbs up at 111 ....that was the squadron i was on working on these beauties back in the early 70`s at RAF Wattisham ...Flown very well thanks

What an utterly beautiful flight, well done sir!

Unique aircraft ! Loved the skilled "scale" flying. Perfect landing. Great work !

Seen her fly at Tibenham a few years ago.. didnt know she had been grounded for a while ! Glad to see her in the air again and flying as good as ever!
Beautiful prototypical flying…nice job!
I've loved the Lightning since I was a kid in the 70's. Lovely to see this model flying, and being flown, so beautifully.
Beautiful model and beautifully flown. It’s rare to see a scale jet flown so well and in such a scale manner which is even more impressive with a type of aircraft that is known to be hard to handle. Great flying sir.
Wow! Cool aircraft and expertly flown. Smooth and deliberate control. Very scale looking.
OMG, absolutely beautiful. I've seen lots of fantastic models but this is one of the best and so beautifully flown, absolute magic 👏👏
Love the realistic inertia of these large-scale jets.
fantastic great landing and I loved the fly pasts and rolls
It’s a simple enough thing but I just love a Derry turn. Some nice ones there!
Was just thinking the same thing! Satisfying to watch.
Excellent flying, very realistic a pleasure to watch 👍
Absolutely beautiful!
Exceptional flight. Thanks.
Superb aircraft and superb handling 👍
Beautifly flown . A joy to watch.
Wow. That was beautiful, and could only be bettered by.........a REAL lightning. Mr Petter is surely smiling down on you.
What an outstanding scale demonstration. Pilot and plane are 🔥 🔥
That was very impressive.
Thank you for posting.
Tough plane to fly from inside the cockpit ! Never mind hundreds of meters away on the ground ! Great authentic noise too !
Wow what a beauty sounds awesome 👌 take off and landing was perfect
Fabulous. As iconic and beautiful in its own way as other notable swept wing classics. Beautifully flown too, though power doesn't look quite enough for doing the vertical climb of the fullsize? No matter, its scale flying speed overall is spot on. Love it 👍
Superb landing,nice flying too...
Superb landing, outstanding!
Flies like a real Lightning, which I have been lucky enough to see!
Brilliant flight of an iconic fighter jet. She’s a real beauty. 👍
I used to see these fly at raf binbrook in Lincolnshire they used to scare the shit out of me bloody loud and fast ❤
Perfectly flown Sir
superbe modéle et parfaitement piloté ! bravo
Utterly fabulous gents x
1000 likes from me. Amazing aircraft, perfectly flown.
The clouds add to the atmosphere of a bygone era.
Атмосфрная и драматичная сцена. Модель летит очень реалистично.
The lighting was flown in the days when Britain was Great!
I'd love to know more about the build , power source, etc please

Brilliant i enjoyed that
Looks magnificent 👍🏼

What a landing😮😂😂👍👍👍

That is so going to crash. Wow compliments to the Pilot.
Not if we can help it.

Anybody know....how long would this model be cabalbe or vertical climb.....I know it will have a max altitude to to go over......but just wondering.

@@daveparry7167 I see....I presume it capable of continues vertical climb....as did the EE Lightning in its day.....what an amazing aircraft it was.

While having that same form, to me it is ugly when put up against a Sabre or Mig 17.
Having said that it handles beautifully by a skillful pilot.
