It was 17.8.2024... When I first listened to him. It was love at first sight. Still crying and laughting with him... Clen of H and C, but not sober... Yet..
I really took it in when jack started speaking about waking up and choosing to believe in something bigger I like the analogy of life is its own choose your own adventure book. the way he said everything there is such a great tool and a really helpful way to look at sobriety ( or whatever current path you're on) 1:00:26
Omg I watched this entire thing and i probably cried 10 times. I am beyond grateful to have stumbled upon this podcast and had the liberty of watching this. Jack Kays WOW 👌 👏 I am a forever fan now. I love your journey and i love your music. I am a recovery addict and i can relate to most of everything you guys shared. Thank you so much for this ❤
THIS! This is why we don’t really drink around our kids. We wait till they go to bed. We also never ever get drunk around them either. It’s so important in a world that glorifies drinking
I have friends in recovery that work the 12 steps and went from hardcore heroin addicts to successful tattoo artists making over 6 figures and being amazing humans. I myself have never been involved in the AA or NA meetings because i went cold turkey on an acid trip and never looked back. I was a suicidal drug addict and one acis tripped opened my spiritual eyes. Im 49 now and havent done alcohol or drugs for probably 20 years( i dont keep track). The only thing I really disagree with is the continual verbalizing of being an addict at every meaning. The way your subconscious mind works isnby repetition and i juatvdont agree with programming that because a human is infinitely power and indont believe we should put linits on our possibilities. Anyways i appreciate what you guys are doing
Honestly don’t know if I’ve related to someone more than I do the homie jack. Regular person like me turned great musician. He is living the life I wish I had man. Love this podcast!!! 16 months sober on the 15th of December. Alright I’m done rambling. lol
I've been listening to Jack constantly for about a year now and relating to his lyrics so much. This podcast really made me think about sobriety in a different way. I wouldn't say I've had severe substance abuse problems. But its been enough to feel like I'm being held back in the creative work I've been pursuing. So thank you for doing this podcast with him. I was engaged for every minute of it.
RJ is so smart. I love when he spits his wisdom. Is he married? Lol. My biggest criticism at work is that I let my emotions rule my reactions and I get really frustrated(I'm a supervisor). I'm overworked and overwhelmed and take on too much cause I care more than most- is what constantly goes through my mind. That being said I like what RJ said about his career and how he looks at gratitude. Thank you for opening that door of thought. And Rachel said some similar stuff too. Always learnin' from you guys! Great guest. Cool guy. I live in Ohio too!
The 12 steps is not the answerfor recovering from addiction. They have had only a 1% recovery rate since its inception. Nobody is truly getting sober in AA. You might get 1 year or 5 but there is only one guy in the back of the meetings that has 50 years sober. And most of the time that guy exaggerated his addiction. We need to start a program that doesnt necessarily make someone go 100% sober for the rest of their lives. AA is like highschool. If you have 10 years clean but you smoked a little weed they want you to go back to day one. Doesnt matter if your life is still good and manageable. They want to judge you for not doing it the exact way they want.
@@josephspagnola9884 we know multiple people with 50+ years of sobriety in AA. All of the hosts of this podcast have nearly 7+ years each. You’re basing what you’re saying off of your OPINION. However we know that there are other things that work for people. What you’re saying is dangerous.
@AgainstAllOddsPod AA having a 1% recovery rate is not an opinion, Sherlock Holmes. It's a fact. So idk how you can argue with that? I was an addict to all the worst drugs. Now I smoke a little weed and have a drink maybe 3 times a year for the last 10 years. My life is manageable that's all AA should care about. Stop judging people who figure it out a different way. A bunch of people patting themselves on the back for being a normal contributing member of society. You get coins and party's for just being sober. It's ridiculous, I was a big part of AA and I spoke in meeting threw the east coast. It's a sham....period. maybe they would have a higher recovery rate if the purpose was to just help people make their lives manageable. Not judge them for taking a hit of weed.....oh, and now you can't get your little coin cause you took a hit of pot, hahaha
@AgainstAllOddsPod I just Googled it and addiction specialists calculate a 8 to 12% Recovery rate and they want you to believe it's a lot better than it is and they even say it's 8%. So realistically it's probably 5% recovery rate. I know more people who got clean but now have a drink once in a while than I do 100% sober for over 10 years. My father was a Coke addict and when I was 12 he got clean and became the best father I could ever ask for and he still has a beer once in a while. He's now 70 and I'm 43. We need to teach people that you're not stuck forever. If you're told for the rest of your life you can only eat chicken and rice....im sorry you are going to have that cake. Stop telling people it's only this way. Allow people to succeed in AA even if they dabble. All we should care about is that their lives are manageable. I'm telling you, it's a much more positive way to look at it and I've seen much more recovery stories like these.
Looks like it, would make sense bc there’s a pretty lump of amethyst on the table too. Both are associated with addiction recovery (if you believe in that sort of thing, I don’t personally I just like shiny crystals and picked that grain of knowledge up along the way. More power to those who do believe though! Apparently the Greeks used to say that if you kept a little piece of amethyst in your mouth you could drink all night and stay sober 🤣 I wonder how many people choked 😅😅)
