    Some really good ideas we shall use. Just a couple of points. When putting the PTFE tape on wind it in a clockwise direction otherwise the fitting can undo it when attached.Secondly, instead of a separate speaker it may be possible to connect to the radio auxiliary socket if nearby.Keep up the good work.

    Hi carefree caravaning.
    Dont know if you have done a vid on cassette toilets. But a tip for cleaning them is a simple one but can reduce a smelly mess. My tip is to rinse the cassette out after emptying with clean water but I see so many campers giving it a good shake, which could result in the full light stop working. A gentle tip from side to side is all it needs as there is a magnet attached to a float inside the cassette which can dislodge with a vigorous shake, and hence the chance of over flow in the caravan.
    Cheers hope this has been useful.
    Chris

    Finding these videos really useful as we are taking delivery of our first ever caravan (Bailey Unicorn Vigo) in a few weeks & have LOADS to learn. Loved the PTFE tip, and ordered it off e-Bay where you get 10 rolls for £3.49 (free postage) rather than paying £2.90 for just one at the local Halfords. Anita & I have booked to visit New Lodge Farm in September & are looking forward to meeting you both.

    I find its actually easier to put the PTFE tape on directly from the roll and snap it off when enough is wound on - that helps keep it straight and not twisted... as per other comment below, wind on in the direction of tightening (i.e. clockwise when looking from the "nut" side) (unless it is a reverse thread) so the tightening action of the "nut" you are putting on winds the tape on tighter in the direction you wound it (and doesn't try to unwind the tape) and finally, I find the pink heavy-duty tape (in Aus at least) is best. (Yellow tape is for gas fittings)

    My tip for the tow ball is to use a Durex to prevent rusting. Mind you my tow ball folds away when not in use. Degrease before use. The other top tip is to use the radio/CD player for the TV sound. Many have a 3.5mm socket for AUX use. The sound from the caravan speaker system is a great improvement.

    For better sound from your tv run a lead from your tv 3.5mm jack to the Aux input on your radio, you can get great booming sound and if your speakers are situated near your seats like in our van you don’t need the volume that high so you are not annoying your neighbours....

    Normally ptfe tape is wound on the same way that you turn the device your screwing it onto the tap, clockwise, think about it, luckily it didn’t happen to you, but the way you did it could have unscrewed the tape which you put on the opposite way to the way you screwed the adapter on. I hope you can understand what I’m trying to put over.

I bought the kit and tried a few times but the air hose kept stopping before I could get to 15 PSI. I eventually got it working by switching on the waterpump. Looked at LG 24” (same price) but the 28” HD image is so much better, wondered if it might be a fraction too big but the shelf easily copes thankfully and great viewing cinema like with led spotlights on!

      Hi Martin & Celia. Take a look at towcar.info website. This allows you to enter your car & caravan details which will then calculate the match. Hope this helps. Keith & Michele

    Hi. Will the aqua roll adapter kit give a constant water supply as long as there is a tap to connect to? Thanks in advance and great video.

    Thanks, Keith and Michele, just got my PTFE :-). Hate to think of all that water going to waste!
    Could you possibly advise on the length of fresh and waste hoses for a serviced pitch on CMC sites? The whole question seems to lie within Caravanning Black Arts! We have booked a serviced pitch for the first time in late July, and I am confused about what length of pipes to buy. Thus far I have bought an 8 metre flexible waste hose and an 8 metre food grade fresh water hose, but I am wondering whether I need an extra section of fresh water hose just in case? The Club site in question, The Firs near Belper, is closed so can't get advice from them. CMC quotes 25 metres for a fresh water hose, but then I read of people who use around 7 metres, maybe with an extension that they hardly ever use in the UK. Sorry for such a long and yet basic question!

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hywel, Personally we carry two lengths of hose, a 4 metre & a 12 metre. We’ve never had the need to join both together but we do carry a connector should the need arise. We also have 4 metres of waste pipe & have only had to use the waste master when the drain was over 12 metres away. Although The Firs near Belper is closed (we haven’t been here) we’re sure like most other sites they will be monitoring & responding to emails if not answering the phone. In our experience, when visiting sites with serviced pitches, when the services are a distance away from your caravan/motorhome the shop/reception have supplies of pipes/hoses to purchase, some may even loan them to you. Hope this helps, best wishes, Keith & Michele.

    Another good ‘un Keith ( et Michelle).
    Good tips - already got the Bluetooth speaker lashed up.
    PTFE great idea - we went to a CL in Clitheroe ( our first experienced of this phenomenon and a departure from the usual land of Fully Serviced hard standing luxury).
    Woman (owner?) knocked on our van door at 7:30 at night in pouring rain to say tap was dripping at the bollard).
    ( And again another night to say I’d left awning light on and was wasting electricity!- she took meter readings about 3 times a day from the box!!).
    Anyway .... I Went out and tried a selection of adaptors yet still a drip .
    Fortunately, I had some PTFE so put that on .
    Still wasn’t enough to totally stop the drip.
    Realised afterwards what Id done wrong ... I should have wrapped it clockwise .... around the woman’s mouth 🤣
    Keep up great vlogs and see you in September!
    Regards
    Howard

      Hi Kev, Lovely to hear from you. The sound bar was purchased from Tesco. At the time it was reduced to £16.99, the model is a KS Boombar+. The more expensive one was purchased from PC World at a cost of £79.99 (this was over a year ago) the model is a Jam HX-P920. Hope this helps, best wishes, Keith & Michele.

    You obviously have never had contact with a pipefitter. You wound the ptfe tape on the wrong way. If you put it on the way you did, you can wind off the tape as you tighten the plastic fitting. The only way you wind the ptfe on as you did, is with a left handed fitting, like on fuel gas.

  • @steveelliott6581
    @steveelliott6581 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Keith if you put your ptfe tape anticlockwise then it won't undo when you put you tap connector on just a little tip for you

    • @steveelliott6581
      @steveelliott6581 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry Keith it's clock wise so when you put your tap connector on it don't unwind your ptfe tape

    Good vlog, first time I’ve come across your channel and really enjoyed it so have subscribed. Your awning looks nice, what model is it and do you think it might fit our 2016 Bailey Pursuit. ? Greetings from the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.

      @keithandmichele  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Graham, Welcome to our channel & thank you for your kind words. Our awning is a Kampa Rally Air Pro 390, the current model available is slightly different with two front panels instead of the three panels we have. Pretty sure it would fit your Bailey, but double check with your dealer or Kampa 👍🏻 Best wishes to you in New Zealand, Keith & Michele.

    Please tell me... Is it ever right to grease a towball?

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bob, No, never grease a tow ball. The tow ball should be free of any dirt, grease, grime or rust to work effectively. Periodically you should clean the tow ball with brake cleaner & very fine wet & dry sandpaper to remove any unwanted particles. Many later model caravans have a stability bar that is lowered onto the tow ball which uses friction pads to aid the caravan stability, any grease/dirt/rust on the tow ball will inhibit the stability when towing. Hope this helps, Keith & Michele.

    Hi guys, we’re new first time owners, we had a practice night on the drive which was great! I was surprised in your video about the PTFE tape tip. I ASSUMED service pitches had the ‘hose lock’ type tap connectors already attached. Do you normally have to provide your own? Thanks!

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Elliot, Congratulations on your new caravan 🎉 It’s great that you’ve done a practice run on the drive 👍🏻 In all of our years caravanning, we’ve never been on a serviced pitch that had the hoze lock connector attached. We always carry two, one x 1/2 inch & one x 3/4 inch, as the tap sizes on pitches can vary. Don’t forget your PTFE tape! 😀 Wishing you many happy travels & adventures, Keith & Michele.
