I guess that pcb is like a lighting dimmer circuit, but no preset.
( Phase angle firing circuit.)
Chopping bits out of the a.c to slow the motor down.

however, the autosave feature was introduced in 2009

this feature was removed between 2013-2014 and the green high/low switch was on the hvr200-12 until 2016 when it was replaced by the red indicator light to tell you if its plugged in
