    All Henrys deserve to live! Glad you've rescued him and gave him a new lease of life. I myself rescued one that was barely a year old today, albeit not from a dustbin, but from being parted out as a "spares" Henry on my local "freebay" group. All he needed was a new switch, which was easy to get online.

    On low power the motor sounds intermittent but maybe just a bit of serious use will bed in the brushes and clean the commutator, maybe, there's only one way to find out, cheers

      I have been running this one as my shed machine for a month or two since I recorded the video. It seems to have bedded in. No smoke or noises. Patience pays off

    Its a more modern Henry. I would basically buy a new motor the same has the current one, buy a new filter, clean it up and sell it on.
    This was the last Henry to have the high/low switch on. I always thought they were the better ones.
    Good video 👍🏽

    Had a similar one in last year Henry xtra sadly the motor on it was a gonner got it off a mate of mine his mum used it with no filter as the filter has a tear in it it’s really daft how people ruin stuff by stupid mistakes and misuse

  • @zx8401ztv
    @zx8401ztv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Well you didn't take long to get it working again :-D
    Maybe it is a lower wattage motor.
    I would have used a bit of 3000 grade sand paper to buff up the commutator, a bad connection will lose power and could arc more than normal.
    But that's just my way.
    The carbon rods look like they have plenty of material on them :-D
    I'm amazed that the windings are still in good condition.

    Wow, that sure was clogged up. Appreciate you going into detail with the dismantling and motor cleaning.
    BTW, do people ever object to you going through their bins? Do the authorities mind? (I don't know where you live, I guess some places are more accepting than others).

      @@bootsowen BTW, about this Henry Hoover:
      You dont need to use this as a workshop vac. Use this off-sounding Henry HVR200-12 as a vacuum cleaner for fun. You can get a good-condition HVR200A autosave as a workshop vac.

    30 pounds for a complete motor expensive? Here in the Netherlands they are asking around €150 till 200 for a new HVR-200 motor

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A new Henry costs £120 on special in a supermarket. Fancier models cost more. As you can tell, I don’t pay for these machines or if I do it is at a car boot sale or flea market and my price limit would be £10 for a promised working machine. So €150 is a bit much!

    • @Paultje118
      @Paultje118 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bootsowen i also don't pay that much. I will remove the motor and use the parts as spares. Here a new Henry Next will be around €240 till €275,-. The prices here are way more then in the UK.
      I am also looking for ways to harvest and find Henrys for my DIY projects.

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is the same for me. I have some spares saved, but motors seem to be the issue on well used machines and I have never had success refurbishing the motors or adding new brushes, usually when the brushes have failed the commutator ring and rotor also has damage. Time and patience are the most factors when waiting for free stuff!
