Exactly. Originally I was going to build both a spline jig and box joint jig, then it occurred to me I could combine them both in one jig. Thanks and glad this was useful for you.
This Jig would be amazing for my set up. I make mainly frames and boxes with a router table and miter saw. Unfortunately I don't have a table saw, or the space for one, to make the necessary cuts to make this jig.
Great idea! It guess it would basically be a zero clearance insert for the jig. You would probably also want to make the height adjustable so you can match the height of the router bit. Probably more of a concern for a dovetail bit. If I run into issues with tearout, I will look into this. Thanks!
I like it! How do you manage measurements for the splining jig? Do you have to measure up every time you use the jig due to it being manually located on the T-Track? I assume the initial pass on the box-joint jig allows you to align that perfectly each time? Would a similar approach work on the splining jig where your first cut when you first fit the jig to the track could be a locating point? You could then measure a zero reference from the center of that along the spline bed?
Thanks! For splines, I raise the router bit up, then adjust the jig sideways until the router bit is centered with the slot in the jig. At this point I will secure the clamps on the T-Track. For the spline position in the workpiece, you can place a spacer of the required width between the router bit and the spline clamp on one side, then secure it in place. Similar for box joints, I will raise the router bit up and adjust the jig sideways on the T-Track until the router bit fits in the slot in the fence. I will then do a test joint in scrap wood and make micro adjustments in the box joint fence (wingnuts on the back of the fence) until the box joints are fitting OK. It doesn't take much to get it all lined up correctly and once it's all locked in, you can make cuts fairly quickly.
Kia ora! Can i ask what router table you own? I am looking to buy one for my shop in nz. By the way I stumbled upon your channel the other day and have watched nearly everything, quality content. Thankyou!
I built it myself. It's attached to my table saw which has the bonus of making the table saw fence dual purpose. I was going to make a video for it but noticed there are a few already on TH-cam. If you search on TH-cam for something like "combined table saw and router table" you will probably find something similar. Great to read your comment about my channel and really appreciate you watching my videos - thanks!
It is just one jig. The same top assembly is used for both spline and box joints. The main configuration change is the addition of the fence when making box joints.
I don't have a router table, but the day I do, this is going high on the project list. Love it.
I am definitely going to unashamedly copy that! Thank you for sharing 🌞
Go for it! You're welcome 🙂
Contrast looks awesome. Nice work.
Fantastic space saving jig. Exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for sharing. On the priority list for next jig build.

Excellent video. Will be making this jig next week!!
I have done much searching for a multi-purpose jig like this. I hope that you have detailed plans for a build. Excellent!
Dovetail splines are so pretty!
Saved and suscibed,i love all these joints! Thank you for sharing
That's great to hear, thanks!
Same!
Can't wait to do this in my jigs class😊
Great, pleased to hear it 🙂
Great work and awesome spacing saving multi task jig. 👍
Thanks, always good to save space in the workshop 👍
@@kiwiworkshop Agreed! You could also make build plans for jigs and sell them, thoughts?
@@inspiringbuilds yes, I've already made build plans and the link is in the video description. Thanks
Great idea, now I will upgrade my spline box jig.😅
Go for it! Thanks
I'd like to be able to do this one day
very great ideas..👍👍👍
Thanks!

Awesome! Could you incorporate different rear center panels you could switch out for different router bits to reduce readout?

Well designed 👌
Thanks, appreciate your comment 👍
Sweet. Wish I could fit a dado blade on my saw.
Love it🐝

Would you ever consider building one of these to order?
I won't have time for this, but thanks for asking. See the video description for the plans if you would like to build your own.

I wish you would have shown making the lids to the boxes.
I will make a full box making video at some stage and it will include the lids
Bro spleefed the coin bridge and thought no one would notice
👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
knap bedacht
This is not one jig though. 2 jigs sharing thee base plate allowing them to glide like sled
