    **DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OFFROAD A HONDA PASSPORT (Ridgeline or Pilot) WITHOUT A SKID PLATE!!! The oil pan is completely exposed. Cover it with a skid plate, Jsport makes one for $349. The Ridgeline and Pilot skid plate is compatible with the passport.

    31:15 Final Chapter: Escape From Oriflame!
    March 6-10, 2019: I started my 5 day vacation with a snowboarding trip to Mammoth, CA. I was able to test the Honda Passport in snowy conditions, it performed exceptional. One thing I've been noticing about the passport is I no longer have to air down. Not only is the ride is so smooth with it's amplitude shocks (bi valved dampening system), but the vehicle seems to maintain grip quite well without the extra footprint from airing down.
    After 3 days in the snow, I made my way over to Anza Borrego to meet up with MtnRoo Sandiego for an overnight mini overlanding trip, put together to say farewell to one of the Admins from the San Diego chapter.
    The trails were more difficult due to the recent rain. The Oriflame trail received so much rain that there was a creek running through it. Watch the video to see how the 2019 Honda Passport performs on moderate offroad trails.
    In case you were wondering, I still have video's of two trips (Mammoth snow camping chapter 2, and Utah) that I still haven't edited yet. I felt that since the 2019 Honda Passport is trending right now, I would get video's out about it ASAP. I promise that I will eventually create those video's! Thanks for being patient.

    Interesting facts:
    -According to Car and Driver Magazine, the Honda Passport does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds.
    -Jeep Renegade TrailHawk and Compass Trailhawk shares the same transmission and uses same specced axles as the Honda Passport (along with Land Rover and Jaguar). When you place the mini Jeeps in "4 Low" it simply locks the transmission in 1st gear (4.71:1). Regular Renegades and Compass's have 3.73 axles, but the trailhawk versions and the Honda Passport use 4.334 axles. This allows for a 20.4:1 crawl ratio. ***Jeeps start getting real at the Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. They get a real transfer case and real lockers!!** it's just interesting to know that you can tell someone that the Honda Passport has "4 Low" (by Mini Jeep standards).

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring

      TheDgee03 there were two trails. On day one, we did “Grapevine Canyon” on day two we did “Oriflame canyon”. These trails are located on the west side of Anza Borrego, off highway 78.

      Thanks Lorenzo! I'm doing similar things with this Honda Passport that I did with my Forester XT, and that's showing people what these vehicles are capable of. It all started when people were unsure if a CVT equipped Forester XT could drive on sand. I took my Forester XT to the dunes to find out. Hehe!

    Fantastic episode! Oh man loved this video! That trail looked super fun, and what a great crew to hit it with.
    I will say, I think the words "right" and "left" should be banished from everyone's vocabulary on the trail...I've seen so many mixups between spotters and drivers using "left" and "right." I've noticed a lot of Jeepers use "driver" and "passenger" and this seems so much safer and more intuitive for everyone involved.
    The Passport looked right at home out there. Even at stock height, it inspires confidence. It seems every bit as capable as your Forester was. A bit of lift and I bet that thing will devour just about any trail. Looks very very comfortable as sleeping quarters too.
    Nice work on the solo backtracking. That seemed a bit nerve-wracking but dang, the Passport got it done!
    Thanks for the shoutout! I'm trying to finish editing my latest adventure over the next few days and hopefully drop the video this weekend!

      Thanks softroadingthewest 🙏🏻! I totally agree about left and right! But I have to admit, I feel passenger and driver are too many syllabus and I really like hand signals. I feel they are more descriptive. 9:32 is the perfect example. Also, I think it’s a good idea to not blindly follow a direction that is questionable.
      Questioning about going right when I felt my nose was already buried was the right thing to do 😃.
      I banged out this episode rather quickly. I probably spent 3 hours on it. Much quicker than my last episode which took 16 hours. I’m going to start forcing myself to take less time deciding what footage makes the cut or not. Quicker decision making, that’s the key I guess.

      @@JonDZ_Adventuring Holy cow that was pretty dang nice for a 3-hour edit. Heck I'd even be happy if I could pull one together in just 16 hours. I mean, I spent at least 3 hours last night just fiddling with the music on my current project, LOL. There was nothing at all lacking about your 3-hour edit. I owned a 2 inch lifted 2015 Forester XT with ++sized tires (29 inch). It would **have** completed the Oriflame trail. It just goes to show how important ground clearance and a suspension and AWD system built from ground up for softroading conditions.

    This stuff is truly amazing!! I’m addicted to watching your new Honda Passport easily hold its own out here with the smaller Subaru Forester.
    It’s cool to see guys and gals out here sharing what they know about camping. A beacon light, yeti 400, rice cooker, vacuum insulated thermal cooker, giant ice cooler; genius! The bonfire trunk made by cutting the trunk in the middle was brilliant. Last but not least, I always get a kick out of seeing and comparing how folks mount their auxiliary lights and sometimes bull bars.

    Great video. I hope you got atleast 500 miles on the odometer before you start doing to much. Ideally 5,000 miles would be best. Probably a little over kill. But the initial break in, combined with the additional debris in the engine oil from break in always makes me nervous. On my new vehicle I personally change my oil at 500 miles, 1,500 miles, 3,000 miles, 5,000 miles, then every 5,000 after that. Now that is probably way over kill. But the initial break in of your engine can effect the long term life of it. Is there not a strut spacer lift for the passport yet? I bet you could have a machine shop custom make one if you had the time to take off your struts and bring it to them to make something that fits perfectly.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jklpino, I appreciate the advice! I currently have 2.7k on the new Passport in the 3-1/2 weeks of owning it. I broke the engine in to 1000 miles rather quickly. That’s a good idea to change the engine oil sooner than recommended. I think I’ll do that 👍.
      I still need to do the video about the Subaru and the recommendation to change the fluids sooner than what the dealer recommends. It was nice to hear that from you.

    • @jklpino
      @jklpino 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya. If I were you I’d change the oil at 3,000 miles. Then again at 5-6,000. Then at what ever the sever service maintenance intervals Honda recommends. I no on my Mitsubishi it’s actually recommended at 3,750 miles for sever duty. But in my option that is way to often. I think 5,000 miles is a good average number.

    So, it's evident that Passport is not an offroad vehicle, i.e., Out-of-the-box, but a lot many accessories are needed even before I would try mine to any offroading :). Just wondering, why Honda is not 'truthful' this time!

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      20 inch rims??? Hell no it’s not offroad ready out the box. Similar to a Subaru, you need to get it ready. With that said, new trucks or Jeeps with H/T tires really aren’t ready either.
      I spent some coin to buy (5) 18 inch wheels and (5) A/T’s. You absolutely positively need a skid plate ($349).

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      clarda1 I just came back from Utah. It was wet, it rained a lot, we had a rental Jeep with H/T’s. The Jeep didn’t do as well as the Subaru’s.
      I know you’ll agree. Tires make a BIG difference.
      The Honda Passport has brake assist, but it’s also the only vehicle right now (well, Acura’s too) that has true torque vectoring. Power is sent to the outside rear wheel to get this thing rotated. Many car reviewers are impressed at how this system is able to get this vehicle rotated on clay like mud. The iVTM4 system is only in the bigger Honda’s (Pilot, ridgeline, Passport), this is not the same system in the CRV. The rear differential has clutch packs making a rear limited slip differential. Those clutch packs can simulate a locked rear diff.
      This system has been out in the Pilot and Acura’s since 2016.
      Here’s my plan: get 2 inch lift, upsize my tires to 31.6 inch (2 inch taller) and go on my adventures in the west. I won’t get everywhere, but I should get to 90% of the places I want to go. I used to drive a TRD FJ cruiser with a rear locker. I’m not going back. I hated driving that truck. Sucked on the road and sucked gasoline like nobody’s business. 15 mpg!!! Screw that!
      I’ve proved with my 2015 Forester XT that you can lightly modify them, have enough capability for a level 5 Jeep trail, get 25 mpg @ 70mph and still do 0-60 in 6.2 seconds.
      Another thing you might not know about the passport. According to Car and Driver, it does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. Performance is another reason why I purchase vehicles.
      I hope you didn’t take all that the wrong way, I just feel that many people aren’t familiar with these new Honda’s.

      I do love the ST, the power and handling might be the best in class. I will eventually post some aggressive driving videos on my channel. Can you tell me please what video and audio recording gear you use? Your camera seems to be roof mounted. Can you recommend any inside mount cameras that also have very good audio recording ? What software do you use for editing ? Would really appreciate some advice. Thank you.

      @@theangrybuzzard3447 it took me a really long time before I upgraded any of my gear. Actually, I only did upgrades around Christmas time. I'm currently using a GoPro Hero 7 black and my two iphone 7's (one is a work phone, comes in handy). Whenever I go on trips I'll collaborate with the others by making a shared google photo's album for people to share all their video's and pictures. Everyone gets access to the shared footage, and we all agree that we can use each other's footage. Sometimes you will see drone footage, and that's from other people. I don't own a drone yet.
      As far as inside mounts, I don't have one. I should get one, so if you find something to use, please let me know. I've gotten pretty good at holding the camera in one of my hands while I trail ride (pretty reckless, I know), so all that inside footage is hand held. I'll make sure I subscribe so I an see your ST in action. I'm a car fan, not a brand fan.

    Ya. The problem is, I’m already loosing 2-3mpg with these larger tires. I don’t want to loose anymore with the roof top carrier. And with the rear spar tire carrier, from what I’ve read they loose less MPG’s. I’m not concerned about the rear window being blocked cause I have a rear view camera, plus my windows are blacked out anyways. And as far as traction boards and all that other stuff. I don’t have any of that yet. And I really don’t care for the look of the roof top carriers either. And as far as my stock spare goes. Unfortunately the design of my car has it mounted under the car. Because I have a 3rd row seat. There is no room on the interior to put the spare. So In order for my to have a full sized spare it has to be externally mounted. I no it will sag the rear but I’m prepared to adjust for that. And also, I have a roof top carrier for when we go on long trips and it’s a pain to mount and dismount. I’m short and it’s annoying. I think a rear hitch mounted tire carrier would be easier for me. And I like the look of it. But I do get why you went the route you went. You carry more stuff on a everyday basis then I do. For me the rear mounted full sized spare would probably only be occasionally mounted on the vehicle. I was also thinking about a hitch mounted cargo carrier too. I occasionally have 6-7 people in my car for long road trips and there’s very little interior room for any non-essential items. So I want some versatility that can be easily added and removed. On a day to day basis I will have all non-essential items removed from my vehicle and add on what I need when I need it. The problem I keep coming back to is the rear end sag. Anything I do will make it sag. I can adjust for that but the suspension would be for the most per permanently changed and not adjustable. My thinking is that if I adjust for a rear mounted tire carrier. Then when I have it off and carry people it will probably be about right. But when I have it off and I don’t have people the height will be higher in the rear effecting my handling. Now I no some of the Subaru’s run a slightly taller lift in the rear. But I’m assuming they’re permanently adding weight to the rear that they’re taking into account for. Do you have any insite on the effects of the driving characteristics when the rear is slightly taller on the Subaru’s?

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jklpino, I hear you loud and clear! After I put A/T’s on my 2015 Forester XT I lost the 2-3 MPG’s you speak of. The faster my highway speed, the worse it is. I found that 70 mph was the sweet spot to get 25 mpg highway. I also (like you said you plan) ran a hitch basket and it worked like a charm. I got the same 25 MPG’s.
      When I lifted my Subaru, I went 2 inch front and 2-1/2” rear. That leveled the vehicle out perfectly. Since I had a full size spare and gear under the cargo floor, it was permanently weight down.
      People with rear tire carriers typically run overload springs (stiffer springs). For Subaru’s rallitek makes them, or some people just go with king springs. As far as handling, some people claim that the rear is stiffened enough to where they get rid of their rear sway bar for better offroad articulation while still being onroad compliant. I have no experience with such things so I can’t comment, I’m just trying to give you ideas.

    • @jklpino
      @jklpino 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, my MPG went from about 31mpg at 70mph to about 27mpg. And that’s a guestamation cause I’m using the cars estimate. But my car is only rated for 29mpg on the highway. So I’m ok with 27mpg. I’m more then happy to drive slower to get better mileage. I still get 30-35mpg at 60mph so that’s fine with me. But like your saying you got the same mileage with the hitch mounted cargo carrier. That’s what I’m looking for. I think it would be rare for me to need the hitch cargo carrier and the hitch mounted spare tire at the same time. And if I did I could just put on my roof top carrier. As far as my lift, the spring Are H&R 30mm lift springs. They are supposedly 30% stiffer. I’ve seen videos of them side by side with the stock springs. The front are thicker but same length. The rear look about the same thickness but longer. So with 6-7 people in my car my rear end swates about 1/2”. The springs are 1” lift. I no for a fact 1.5” lift will fit from another guy. So I was thinking about doing the springs then adding a 1/2” spacer to the rear. I’m just hoping that won’t be to noticeable or throw off my handling to much. I seen lots of Subaru guys doing that. But like we both mentioned they are carrying a load in the rear that levels it out pretty much full time. But anyways. Thanks for your input. You answered my question about why you choose the roof top carrier and verified my info on the hitch mounted carrier. So I think I will start with a hitch 1st of all. Lol. Then I’ll probably get the hitch mount cargo carrier. Then once I convince my GF of the convenience of it, I’ll point out the rear squat and work on chipping away at her to be ok with the lift kit. I’m almost there already. I own the car but it’s her car. She drives it 98% of the time. It’s the family wagon so I have to keep the Mods mild. We have a 3yr old and one on the way. So I have to maintain some ride quality and more then anything, safety! Lots of people have mentioned the feel there handling is better with the stiffer springs even tho they’re taller. So I’m gonna use that as an excuse that it will improve the handling.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could have maintained my Forester XT better, but... it’s not my fault, the service advisors did not recommend that I change my fluids (transmission, differential, and coolant) sooner than normal, given that my Subaru was driven much harder than the average owner.
      I can’t put the blame on the Subaru advisors, because that’s what they are trained to do. Ultimately, the fault falls on Subaru for advertising their vehicles in rough terrain, but not having a “severe use” maintenance schedule. Also, fixing one of these CVT’s shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. The transmission itself is $6k, and here in America, no one really rebuilds them. They’re an expensive disposable part.
      The passport came out at the perfect time for me. I didn’t purchase the passport because I needed a replacement for the Subaru. I purchased this thing because it’s like a really badass Subaru Forester. I love it!
      There’s other vehicles that Are coming up. All new 2021 4runner, rumor is that there will be a hybrid option. Ford bronco 1 and 2. And that’s it..... Kia and Hyundai SUV’s have a locking center diff (pretty pointless).

The Oriflame trail was too much for my nearly stock Passport, but I'd love to do a rematch, which I'm sure, would be no problem at all now. The ground clearance was so limiting, I really didn't get to showcase the capabilities of Honda's iVTM4 AWD system. My Kramer's Arch video showed off how amazing it is :P.
      My latest upgrade is my 2 inch lift. This should boost my 8.1 inches of ground clearance to 11.1 inches. I have over 10 inches at the lowest point of my front skid plate and 11.5 inches at my rear differential "pointy thingy" (i don't know what to call it). I'm pretty happy with how this ride turned out. It's still excellent on the road, and I'm really excited that it will take me on most "high clearance" trails. The only thing I’m not to excited about with the 29” tires on my outlander is the worse fuel economy. I really want to get a full sized spare. But I don’t want to put it on my roof and get worse fuel economy. I really want to get the hitched mounted spare tire carrier. I’m just curious why you decided to use a roof top carrier for your spar tire vs a rear external tire carrier? My main concern with all my Mods is the adverse affect on everyday driving and fuel economy. My braking ability has been reduced due to the larger tires so I plan on getting high performance brakes and rotors. Next I want to get the hitch and hitch mounted tire carrier and get a full sized spare. Once I get that I’ll see how much I sag in the rear then get my 1” lift springs and use a strut spacer to make of the difference in the rear from the sag with the spare tire and carrier. I no your waiting for a lift to be devolved for your car. But just curious what else you think you might end up doing?

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jklpino, roof cargo carriers have been proven to only reduce MPG's on small vehicles by 2 mpg. Cargo baskets are not as aerodynamic and a loss of about 4 mpg is to be expected. It really depends on the vehicle, a heavier vehicle like my passport with a larger displacement engine hardly gets strained by the cargo carrier. I'm only noticing around a 1 mpg loss, maybe 1.5, but less than 2 mpg.
      I'm not a fan of a rear tire carrier since my rear window will be blocked and it will make parallel packing that much more of an issue. It's also alot of added weight, and that modification only does one single thing. It's not very practical. The cargo carrier is a good solution for spare tire, extra fuel, traction boards, and other gear. It's easily accessible.
      With all that said. I wouldn't put one on a smaller vehicle like an outlander. I wouldn't put one on my Forester XT either. The Passport is larger, wider and heavier and is less affected by wind drag.
      I'm not sure if you've watched the video's of my FXT, but I built a wood frame to house a 29" full size spare tire. It worked out great because the wood frame leveled out the cargo area when the 2nd row seats are folded down. This Honda Passport has a spot for a half width donut spare. That had to go, so I threw the donut out and used that space for my recovery and camping gear. My options were to get a hitch tire carrier or cargo carrier and the cargo carrier made more sense and was much more practical. the carrier is rated to hold 165 lbs.

      I haven’t been on anything super steep and challenging enough to see when the transmission will overheat.
      One thing is for sure though. Leaving this vehicle in “sand” mode will definitely heat the transmission faster than regular mode.
      There’s a TH-cam video done by the fast lane car where they compare 4 trucks and the Honda Ridgeline overheats. Imo, the problem is They had it in sand mode the whole time.
      It’s really evident that sand mode has increased throttle mapping and over revs the engine at the slightest touch of the gas pedal.
      With that said. Maybe I can get this transmission stressed out if I take this thing to the Sand Dunes and attempt a bunch steep dune climbs? Maybe I’ll try that sometime, haha!

      Cory Young they did plenty. They got up a rocky 45 degree climb that I wasn’t comfortable taking a stock height Honda Passport up. While this trail isn’t extremely difficult, it’s enough for a Jeep to tread a little carefully, according to trail recon at-least.
      Not all Subie’s are created equally. It’s true, an old Modified Subaru is definitely capable of a lot more.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Here’s my Assessment. Subaru’s are built from the ground up to be AWD vehicles. They are balanced, sure footed, have a low center of gravity and naturally have more ground clearance, better approach, and break over angles. There’s a big difference between an older Subaru and the modern Subaru (automatic transmission vs. CVT).
      The Honda Passport has an advanced AWD system and a powerful engine with aggressive gearing, But, it’s big and heavy with less ground clearance. The modern Subaru’s have 8.7” vs. the Honda Passports 8.1”. Just to put how important ground clearance is, a stock Toyota Tacoma has class leading 9.5”. That’s the Honda’s weakness right now. But all the other attributes are pretty great in comparison. Take the climb at 36:00, I just crawled up it. There’s no way my 2015 FXT is doing that without a running start.
      In this video, many of these Subaru’s have 2 inch lift kits with larger tires. They effectively have +2.75” making their ground clearance well past 11 inches.

      @@JonDZ_Adventuring are the older or new subarus better for off roading ?

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      revenantgod That’s a good question. I think older Subaru’s are more mechanically inclined (some have limited slip rear differentials) and Newer Subaru’s are more electronically inclined (think Xmode).
      The biggest difference between old Subaru’s and modern Subaru’s is the transmission. The modern Subaru has a CVT. Quite honestly, I think the transmission gets more hate than it deserves but during steep low traction hill climbs the CVT can struggle.
      I’m no expert, so I’m just going to describe what I observe happening. As many know, CVT’s don’t have gears, just two cones and a chain and certain combinations created simulated gear ratios (atleast in the case of Subaru). From a stopped or slowed position, even with the CVT set to the first gear ratio. I feel that they have to “spool” or just gets hung up not being able to transmit enough wheel torque to get the thing crawling up a steep hill climb. Of course you can solve this problem by using momentum.
      Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. This is the section of the trail that I hard to turn around due to not having enough ground clearance. I didn’t witness the older Subaru’s getting up, but I’d imagine they’d do it a bit easier because of the traditional automatic transmissions. From what I was told, the older Subaru’s were able to crawl up.
      Btw, All Subaru’s made it up this trail.

    I know you are totally interested in unsolicited advice from a rando on the internet but I would recommend a lift but NOT bigger tires, with full independent you'll get a ton of benefit from the lift but all bigger tires is going to do is gear you down to make the lack of a low range even that much more noticeable. my 2 cents.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate the advice Patrick! I only plan on going with 31.6” tires. Stock tires on the passport are 29.6” so it’s a small upsize. Maybe I’ll settle for 31.0”’s who knows. The gearing should be able to handle it, 1st gear is 4.71 and axles are 4.33. What do you think?

    • @PatrickRich
      @PatrickRich 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonDZ_Adventuring I think you could certainly get away with it, its a ~7% decrease in gearing (not counting for additional rotational weight) so your crawl ratio goes from 20.4:1 to 19.13:1 which is still probably totally fine, I mean you're still ahead on any Subaru. You'll notice it though, I went from a 31 to a 33 which is only a ~6% decrease and it was pretty noticeable. The good news is that I got GREAT highway mileage overgeared like that, until I changed ratios and went to undergeared.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PatrickRich thanks for breaking it down in detail, I really appreciate that!. Geez, I applied the same math to my 2015 Forester XT and show a stock 14.43:1 crawl ratio but with my 29 inch tires I was at a 4.7% decrease, so 12.41:1 crawl ratio. CVT also needs a little bit of momentum before it will get going, so my guess is that the initial crawl ratio is much much lower.
      My goal in this thing is to do stuff I've been doing in my Subaru, just a bit easier. Ground clearance and breakover angle is the struggle right now and I think i'll be a very happy camper once a lift kit is available.

      @JonDZ_Adventuring  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the medium size SUV segment, the 4runner and the Jeep Grand Cherokee (with 4WD and trims that have Rear lockers) will be the most capable. So 4runner TRD pro, or TRD offroad with rear locker will be a 10. A Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk would be a 10. Is say the Honda Passport with 20.4:1 crawl ratio and a rear limited slip differential/part time locker would be a 7. Imo, the Subaru Ascent would be a 5. Everything else would be 3 or lower. Not counting luxury brands. If you can wait, the 4runner will be all new for 2021 (should go on sale next year) or the Ford Bronco/BroncoII. I wouldn’t buy a new 4runner at this point. The technology is ancient and overpriced for what you get. Good luck on your vehicle choice! I’m 6’1” and love the size of the passport, you must be a giant! You can angle the driver seat forward and back. In the passport it “angles” instead of “tilts” like in other vehicles.

      You can always hang out with the Subaru group called the MtnRoo. There will be a trip in Big Bear in June, the trail run will be for beginners and it’s a great way to get acquainted with light offroading.
      Keep in mind that a completely stock Passport isn’t ready for anything higher than a level 3 Jeep trail. The stock 20 inch wheels are a big liability. This Oriflame trail is about a level 4 to 5 Jeep trail, and that’s why I had to turn around (even though I downsized to 18 inch wheels and had all terrain tires).
      In my latest video, I show my slightly modified Passport. I have tires about 2
      Inches taller and I cut my front bumper. This greatly increased the capabilities while still completely maintaining the vehicles on road handling.

Yeah yeah, it had taller tires, so at best it matches the approach angle of my passport *** while modified ****.
      You should start shaming the crosstrek and the Outback now, since they have 18 degrees of approach.
      Youre such a nice guy Clarda. Is this your thing? Jumping on TH-cam videos of non-Jeeps to just troll around? Alex Agykum before I purchased the Honda Passport,
      I tried a Toyota Tacoma. It looks large on the outside but the vehicle is too small, even with a crew cab. Being 6’1” 250, I’m not the largest guy, but totally cramped. This truck was basically a 2 seater to me.
      Also, Toyota’s here in the USA only use Petrol fuel and have poor fuel economy. Realistically, a completely stock Tacoma one Highway Terrains doing 70mph will get you about 17 mpg. Add upgrades like A/T tires and you’re looking at 15 mpg on a good day.
      That’s why crossovers are popular, and choosing the cream of the crop (Jeep, Subaru and now Honda) are smart choices. Between these brands we have choose between reliability and performance.
      With my mods: A/T’s, cargo carrier, I’m still getting 23 mpg highway. That’s substantially more than the Toyota. A Lightly modded Subaru will get 28 mpg, pretty much doubling a Tacoma’s fuel efficiency.
      The idea is, the better your MPG’s the more you well get out and adventure.
