Very grateful to hear this! I was 100% ready to get roasted in the comments so this is a nice surprise lol Although I do hope I got all that chaos out of my system for a while!
I honestly wouldn't be scared to move up a little bit from formula rookies. The 1600 is a hard car to hop in and be competitive in, especially if you've been doing mostly ovals/sports cars. The f4 and sfl are on rails compared to the 1600 and are much easier to drive. The races are still pure chaos, but its not going to take you 3-4 races to warm up like it does in the 1600; try 3-4 corners. Banger video, keep it up.
Appreciate you watching! Also, the rig I'm using is the Next Level Racing GT Lite Pro . It has some issues, but if you're short on space, it's pretty hard to beat!
Got a quest 3 coming the mail, do you have a good resource for getting started/optimization for PCVR. Planning on using the link cable as I do not have Wifi6e at the moment.
Yeah there's a really good video on setup for wired link that I'll try and link in this comment. It goes over basically everything you'll need including some pretty hidden settings that make a big difference in quality. If you run into any issues or have any question when you get it, feel free to reach out cause it can be real finicky sometimes lol Here's the video (Quest 3 PCVR Setup Guide - Meta Link (Wired Cable) - Ham VR) th-cam.com/video/0BEvYByl8Q4/w-d-xo.html
I've actually gotten quite a few comments on this so I think I'll be making a video on it here pretty soon, but in terms of gear, here's most of it. Everything but the rig and headset is Fanatec - CSL DD wheel base + booster pack (8nm), V3 Pedals, clubsport shifter, clubsport 1.5 handbrake, Quest 3 headset, and then the Next Level Racing GT Lite Pro cockpit. Also, thanks for noticing the progress on that section of the track! I just wished I'd have done it before all of the carnage I caused lol
Dude! What are your PC specs and settings? Your game looks SO good in VR. I have a 6960xt / 7800x3d / 16GB ram on the Oculus and my game doesn’t look anything like this. I’d love to see a PC specs and settings video! This looks great
Just in this past month or so I upgraded to a 4090/14900k so it's definitely a beast, and before this I was running a 3090/11900kf with very similar, if not the same settings, just at 72hz. I don't have all the setting off the top of my head, so a video on this is a great idea! I will say you'll want to check at the very least to see if you have sharpening enabled in iRacing because that can make a HUGE difference in the sharpness levels. HDR also makes things pop a lot more but it can be a performance hit. If you're running over a link cable, using the Oculus debug tool to turn up the encode bitrate and use link sharpening is another game changing improvement in quality. I'll definitely get working on a video on this, but feel free to ask as many questions as you need in the meantime!
Man, this would have saved me so much trouble lol Thanks for letting me know! I Imagine the next time I race these it will be considerably smoother lol
One thing I've learned in the formula 1600 is to be super patient and never push too hard, especially on lap 1 where everyone is going to wreck
This seems like a very good tip. I'm definitely going to being hopping back into these again here soon and this is 100% what I'm gonna focus on lol
Good redemption at the end! I am terrible in those open wheel ones haha
Yeah I'm with you there! I need some serious work in these things lol
Videos like this are SOOOO under-appreciated. Everyone makes mistakes and it happens
Love the content you put out 🙌🤞

More amazing content keep it up bud can’t wait for the next one
Great video mate
I just started iracing and love your videos! 💪🏻
Man that's great to hear! I hope you enjoy it and maybe I'll see you on track sometime!

This car doesn't need clutch to shift just a lift for the ups and blips for the downs, should help with your times

When are we racing together!? James Beard is the name VR iRacing is the game
btw the Formula Vee and FF1600 dont have pit speed limiter
Well I guess that would explain why it wasn't working lol This will be good info for the future, thanks!
@costangracing no worries man haha
