Hey everyone this is Skye LaFontaine, Don's daughter. Just wanted to say thank you for all the kind comments about my dad, on days when I miss him I look at videos like this and all of your comments really mean the world to me and my family. Thanks so much
Hi Skye, I worked with your father for many years and want you to know what a great person he was. He helped create so many brilliant campaigns, his voice alone could sell an idea. Don also was great at re-writing lines to make them better. I always looked forward to our studio sessions, he was kind and patient. Other guys today may imitate his sound but there will never be another DLF.

Not that anyone could really replace "the Don", but voice actor Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) would be my first choice. He's got a very similar voice and honestly I think that he would be the only one that could pull it off and do it justice.

Some high school students of mine got the idea to have DonLaFontaine narrate their documentary films a couple years ago. I told them it wouldn't hurt to ask, but don't expect him to even respond. His response was very curt -- "send me the script." two days later, the students received an mp3 of the legend himself narrating their scripts!!!!!!!! What a guy.

I had no idea this guy passed. His voice was iconic for narration in the early 2000s. He narrated EVERYTHING. From commercials, to shows, to ads. Everytime I hear his voice I get taken back to those days.

What a fantastic, sexy voice he had! Such range and power.
You heard every word he said, as though your very life depended on it.
I have heard he was a good man. He was a handsome man, too.
R.I.P., Don- have a splendid afterlife.

Don was an absolute legend, and the main inspiration for my voiceover career. This is a wonderful vid, especially for those in the industry that remember him.
I never really KNEW of this guy but now I see he was a hilarious and awesome dude! and the tribute to him with those other voices was pretty awesome!!! R.I.P. Mr. LaFontaine!!

I remember Don's voice from so many trailers back in the day, got a real nostalgia hit from watching this. What a legend.
Movie trailers were always bigger and badder with this man's voice. I grew up in the 90's and remember his voice fondly. It was everywhere. A true legend. RIP to this man.
I grew up with Don's voice echoing through my living room. I'm really lucky to have been apart, an grown up in such a cultural legacy that would soon become a part of a generation that developed so much reverence for what would become pop culture. Don's voice was always a gateway for what was next.
Man, he should have voiced a character in Transformers! Love his voice! I was so glad to hear his voice in various episodes of Family Guy. He will be missed.

Don is one of the most influential and important voiceover artists we've ever had. He created an entire subgenre and countless imitators. He was incredible and gone way too soon.

I randomly seek out 90s movie trailers just to listen to the guy. I always got mocked a lot in school for my deep voice so I think its hilarious that he experienced the same. I use to have teachers that would do a pretend deep voice when I talked to them thinking I was messing with them. He is literally "The Voice of" so many generations.
Don LaFontaine is a wonderful man met him many times and grew up listening to his trailers he could make anything sound amazing he will be missed.

I've actually heard deeper voices, but this man was very good and trailblazing and avoids monotony with his range. He deserves to be showcased as he has been.

Monotony in deep voice acting comes from the actor forcing the deepest pitch he can, thus he has no range around it. "His range" is the key here. It really was his range, whereas for his copycats it's a party trick. They can barely make it down there.

I miss this man, he was literally the end of an era... however, Hollywood's shift from Voiceover trailers opened door for a new sort of talent/genre of musc - epic music, which is just as ridiculously amazing. RIP Don, we love you
