Man, I think Pitchfork really nailed it on the head here putting it first of the year. I’m absolutely obsessed with the self-contained novella style writing here and how you get a whole life portrait in a breezy three minutes, and it’s just ABSOLUTELY smeared in these in-the-red shoegaze guitars and strings. Not to mention THAT voice.
this song and the proceeding album were the soundtrack to me going through some of the biggest changes in my life. it was impossible for me to not connect to the bridge “see how it goes, see how it grows”
Saw them last year in Manchester, what a band they are!! They are on tour with Hatchie in Australia at the moment, have met her too and seen her live, Hatchie is cool, shoegaze meets pop, check out her album Keepsake, I love it.
@@dirttaq you got it right on anti-socialites. i've always (no pun intended) been a lurker on this band, and i recall the song you mentioned being a jam when i first heard it
KEXP engineers are absolute kings of this business. I would happily pay a beer for these legends. This set sounds so much better than the record itself while keeping the exact tone and feel they were aiming at in the studio version.
@@blairwilliams136 had the pleasure of seeing them live with Crumb and Fleet Foxes in the same night last december. What a tremendous band and what a remarkable night.
@@bhr788 Well, it sounds crisp and clear while mantaining the dense layers of sound that make these songs so special. Blue Rev is borderline soviet-core in some songs. Here you can hear everything well pronounced while still mantaining the noisy mesh that make the songs richer and bigger than the sum of each instrumental section. Well, at least is what I think.
Will go down as one of the greatest Canadian outputs of all time, and currently holding that spot in the modern age. This track has me in tears every time
Saw them tonight in Amsterdam. 3rd time I’ve seen them, and I will always (haha) maintain that they are the best live band playing right now. Absolutely incredible.
it's so beautiful and felt together when the back up vocals come in from other members. makes me so happy and feel the unity and catharsis of their harmony.
Goddamn, I love that look the drummer makes at the very end of the track... "Yeah, we killed the track, live on air. SO FUCKING WHAT. WE DO THIS ALL THE TIME."
Hmm, it's a well written song and has a top shelf vibe! To me, the look at the end is more about..."wtf was that" regarding all the feedback and 'noise' effects of the guitar player. He let it rip and it distorted the overall sound quite a bit more than on the record. Once again - great band, great track, just not sure about that ending......

I hope KEXP is a radio in GTA VI
Wahahaha asuu

Best comentary
Alvvays bringing back the all-important key change in pop songs!
Clutch observation
I missed that! ❤
Damn true!
Such an uplifting change, OMG, chills!
I would agree if I knew what that was
I love finding out that in Keanu Reeve's AMA he mentioned how much he loves this band.
this band is so damn good. makes me wanna move to the country and have that baby
One of the best songs I've ever heard. To say I'm obsessed with it is the biggest understatement in history.

Normally, I would find a comment like this to be hyperbole. But this is a perfect pop rock song. I love it.

Low key one of the best bands out there for a while now.
Anti Socialites was my AOTY when it was released. Such an amazing band, they haven’t missed yet.
@@dirttaq you got it right on anti-socialites. i've always (no pun intended) been a lurker on this band, and i recall the song you mentioned being a jam when i first heard it
"Circumspect when you call collect" and "I'll egress to Inverness" are two lines that just scratch my brain satisfyingly right
That key change at 1:50 is soo triumphant
Hits every time
Best moment on the album
best moment of 2022 by far
It sounds like a car accident. Jarring. Great song otherwise.
@@CarlosFromPhilly I think you're concussed.

You should hear them play this in concert, even better.
This absolutely does not sound better than the record lmao. Great live engineering, no doubt

@@guslima1130 damn i'm jealous of that line up :D
heaven is a place in my ear with this song
And so is hell.
this song is unreasonably good.
heaven is a place on earth and it's where alvvays are playing
I love Alvvays, and love their new album. I think it’s their best.
as a single mom this feels like my personal anthem
As a 21 year old guy I feel the same, that really shows how great it is.
As a young canadian goose with so much ahead of me I really felt this too while moving south to the country
Will go down as one of the greatest Canadian outputs of all time, and currently holding that spot in the modern age. This track has me in tears every time
Best Canadian band since Barenaked Ladies.
I went from not liking this song 11 months ago to loving this song as their best!!! I hope this lineup sticks!!!
Strumming with the vibrato bar. Old school. Total banger of a tune.
They get better with each release. Amazing band.
Some of the vocal lines that Molly sings are just insane - 2:00-2:30 is all you need to know about her vocal ability. Wow.
She is an astonishingly great singer. Love this band.
she has a desirable depth of breath 😁

Damn this is so well mixed and it hits so hard through headphones
seeing this live 3 times has changed my life genuinely
Best band to have come out of the 20-teens !!!!!!!
This band transcends both pop and shoegaze, they are on their own level
it's so beautiful and felt together when the back up vocals come in from other members. makes me so happy and feel the unity and catharsis of their harmony.
They sound so good omg
This mix is so good!
FINALLY. CONTINUE THE GREAT WORK AND NEVER STOP PLEASE ALVVAYS IM BEGGING
love alvvays so so much. molly's voice gives me chills.
本当に大好きな曲
Favorite song right now. Perfect indie rock pop.
Thanks KEXP. "Discover new music" is totally true.
オールウェイズ!
1:59 特にここからがすごく好きです
Doesn’t get better than this.
What the? That modulation was amazing! Nice work whoever came up with that.
They all did on mushrooms lol.
@@rallokkcaz actually?
Such an amazing song and band, totally underrated. Love the reverse-reverb so shoegazing vibes!
Best band around this days.

this might be the perfect song
best song ever.

love some shoegaze part on this song! bloody briliant!!!
This is a banger!!! Best song of the album
Great song from a great band!
Song of the year
Best track in this set, hot damn. Amazing mixing KEXP!
Great song. Love the hints of Boo Radley’s and MBV.
I love them so much! Consistent high quality tunes ❤️ I'm so happy to be alive while they're active 🥰
perfection. cant stop listening to it.
This footwork on the Memory Man pot is fabulous ! So happy to see them back on KEXP !
Song of the year imo
I love that key change ❤

That was such a tight performance..album was worth the wait.

Incredible
"Não consigo explicar minha dor de tornozelo
Eu realmente não senti isso
O vestido novo pode virar sua cabeça
Mas quanto tempo ele vai prender a tua atenção?
Paraíso
E eu estou
Paralisada
Sabendo de tudo
Blue Rev atrás do balcão
Eu realmente não precisava
Preocupada, ligando a cobrar
Para ver se eu iria seguir
Paraíso
E eu estou
Paralisada
Sabendo de tudo
Aterrorizada
Mas eu vou encontrar meu caminho
Me mudando
Vou ter aquele bebê
Sendo garçonete na cidade
Eu sei que a notícia correm
Me mudando
Vou ter esse bebê
Vou ver como vai
Vou ver como cresce
Paraíso
E eu estou
Paralisada
aguante Alvvays!!!!
oh siiii molly
So fire🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍
Damn, Alec didn't have to go that hard at the end, but thank you for the scuzziness!
que temazoooooo
It's happening!
Goddamn, the song of the year for us weirdos and misconstrued.
come to indonesia again please
YEEEES
♥️
💙GLIDER💙
so good
This might be the most accurate live performance of a studio track ever lol.
Still looking for live performance of "Velveteen" and "Tile By Tile"........
The ending of this song reminds me of the ending to "Taken for a Fool" by The Strokes
Is that a Noel Gallagher-esque solo at the end? Awesome tune
Kevin Shields would be proud
I am more of an Otoboke Beaver guy but this is good too
What does one have to do with the other?
When Slowdive make love with Teenage Fanclub. Great.
Never realized it until now but Sheridan looks like Ellen Ripley in this
the mix tho
The only band that matters is Alvvays
what vocal effects is she using?
yea it sounds cool, this mix in general is pretty amazing
올 하반기 가장 많이 들은 곡
Alvvays = The cranberries feat Paramore
2:25 lol
The bassist looks like a young Cheryl Waters
Phil MacIsaac was the best drummer of that band 🙂

Even if its a girl I hope they name the baby Archie.
:D
that bass guitar looks gloriously beaten up
Incredible song, awful camerawork.
Their band name is misappropriation of the Indian diasporas english
Haha wtf
