Tracy played this song at the Nelson Mandela Birthday Tribute back in 1988. One woman, one guitar and a whole stadium full of people. What a performance and what a talented lady! ❤
Legendary songwriting aside, it blows my mind that Tracy's vocals in live performances can be studio album quality, every time. Best folk singer of our generation.

I found this by googling “what happened to Tracy Chapman,”. I can’t believe she made this performance wow. I love how’s she pretty reclused and in her own words shy so she refrains from the spotlight. She actually said she never sought out the limelight lol just goes to show when a gift is deep in someone’s soul man is it beautiful. She’s the female Bob marley of our era. Just by way of songs with such heartfelt emotional impact and poetic power to them. I love how she flows with the music so much like it emanates from her
An Anglo Saxon Country music singer used her song, because he understood the brilliance of the energy, and sang it. The followers experienced nothing but the truth and energy of the song. They experienced empathy. It’s become a top hit now that a cowboy hat in the club expressed her energy. That’s the story. I am suffering, too. I hurt, too. I want tomorrow to be a better place than the place I am in now. It’s really not that complicated. Tracy is Bitchin’ cool and we want more of her soul displayed in the arena. Courage, Tracy💪🏻
Tracy chapman is a genuine example of pure talent that never went to her head. So very much underrated as a singer / songwriter, don’t make artists like this anymore - she’s exceptional imo

If I hadn't met my wife of 40 years, I would have found a way to propose to Tracy Chapman. What a beautiful human being with the voice of an angel. Feeling blessed to be graced with her music and amazing voice.
@@crystalgrace289 Fact she has a thick voice and her face is big face like mine or my brother's face plus i saw her pictures with sport clothes her arms are so big like a box champion.
what a voice! Her first record was absolutely amazing, really impacted me as a teenager. These songs are part of my life. It's very emotional listening to them again.
The talent to be able to sing live like this is out of this world. Her performance for the 1988 Nelson Mandela birthday bash is unequivocally brilliant. I always tell my younger siblings and relatives that if they want to listen to real, live, genius music, listen to Tracy's album
I came across Tracy Chapman in 2001 when I was working in Youth Hostel Association (YHA) in London King Cross as a Security guard. One of the best album I ever had and owned.
I just wanna meet her one time. At a chill, plant-draped coffee shop with lots of natural light, talking about feelings and poetry music and her story and mine. Like damn. I wasn’t alive during her rise but she feels like my godmother.
And she appears again after years to brighten our eyes. A crowd around the world was waiting for this return, but we know it will be in her own way and at her time, because Tracy Chapman is far above our vain will. Her songs are not current but they are Truly what the world needs to hear in these days where the fight for freedom comes down to what the powerful think and put into practice as laws, as if all we need are their opinions. Let us praise the beauty and purity of this woman while we still have the opportunity. I love you Tracy Chapman.
@@SisterFromAnotherPlanet I don't know anyone who has a perception of the world that matches Tracy. But who knows, another artist might emerge like her, but they will never come close to her talent and uniqueness.
I remember a friend of mine listened to Tracy Chapman's first album and it made her cry - genuinely moving music. So beautiful. She can perform in front of an entire arena, just her, her compositions, her guitar playing and her beautiful voice - and she has them all spellbound. That's talent.

God bless Tracey chapman this song is such an inspiration to so many people! A Revolution is what we really need Right now to bring the elite organisations down 🤔
This song came to mind for me last year in 2020 and continues appropriate today. I hold songs in my heart. They surface especially when their lyrics and emotions apply to current challenges. I believe the "Revolution," from peace loving Tracy Chapman, is talking about a peaceful revolution, one that will bring about social justice, human heart core needs being met, and a wave of understanding for everyone about the responsibility, persistence, and urgency that's needed now. It's time for the ugly vanity, misuse of power, and hatred towards others to be called out. I agree we need a revolution=MAJOR CHANGE to ensure the survival of the Good & Beauty that is the planet Earth & all of its people we are fighting for right where we live.
Im learning this song in guitar, but I cannot sing along, too difficult for me. Music just flow through this divine soul of hers. Love you for ever, Tracy!
