Try using a #4 (yellow in color) plastic drywall anchor as a snapcap. Fits chamber perfectly. Allows dry fire with no damage, and will extract just like a spent case.
Exactly. They work great for guns that do not have firing pin limiters. Many, not all, modern .22 firearms have limiters that keep the firing pin from contacting the chamber edge.
Another great video. Did savage say what they did to decrease the bullet scratching on the b22? I have the precision and at 50 yards getting groupings averaging around .5 inch using CCI SV, I also have the bullet scratches happening. I tried single shot firing and didn't see any real change in accuracy. If I could shoot better I am sure the group's would tighten up with better ammo.
Yeah that sounds like mine before i sent it in. They put a slight angle on the bottom portion of the bolt. If your thinking of trying it yourself i wouldnt. Just send it it. I tried doing it myself and i made one issue into another issue ( i filed too much to the point it would no longer feed)
Hey Pathis, they are quite comparable, for accuracy, i had better success with the savage mark 2 over the ruger precision rimfire other than that id say its pretty much or almost on par with the b22. Likely id chose the b22, if we overlook accuracy as id say my model well isnt the most accurate b22 that ive seen
I'm looking to buy a precision 22 long rifle. After reading reviews of the mark 2 and the B22.I'm gonna go with the mark two in stainless steel. Many complaints about the b twenty two with its plastic magazine.
I bought one of the b22 Precision 6 weeks ago. Have had no problems with feeding or extraction after about 600 rounds. If you want real accuracy you have to try lots of ammo. Tried everything , the Lapua Center X shot ok 1/2 in groups. Not as good as we hoped. Gun is very light, removed thick rubber butt pad and replaced it with 7/8 steel. Ran across some Lapua OSP Pistol match. Really likes these. Will shoot bullet holes now. Very happy with it.
Excellent video! I have a Savage mk ii FV-sr in a boyds tacticool stock. Great shooter, But i do find the mags really annoying to use. and have a few fte. Would you reccomend upgrading to a cz 457 mtr? thanks!
Hi Mx, personally no, in my experience the cz mtr 457 match is nice, but if you are already gettinf .50" holes at 50m the cz likely will be about the same, the bolt is a bit nicer, but if you have a mark ii that shoots well i woudnt upgrade that. Is you mark ii havingnfailures to extract or failures to eject? The extraction issue is a common savage issue and easily fixeable with a second retaining clip. Also the mags for the cz mtr arent much better in design
I also have a Mark ii FV-SR, great rifle, it shoots Center-X close to MOA... with a 50m zero I was 2.2mil @ 100m, 8.25mil@207, 11mil@250 and 16.6@300, I've also had a CZ 455, Norinco NS522 and still own an Anschutz match (single shot)
i thing people ( not me) say there is less reliability, with the single stack, one thing is that they rotary mags are easier to insert compared to the skinny single stack
I have the mark II with the straight mag and the A 22 with the rotary mag and find them bough work great, the rotary mag is nice that it is flush with the rifle. much nicer to carry, They do have some problems with the straight mag opening up and letting the bullets stand up and jam but is a easy fix, I got two at a very good price and when tried them found out why, but was a very easy fix with a pair of channel lock pliers and a viner, less than 5 minutes to fix bough, and never another problem, but I have heard some people toss them for that, wish they would toss them my way could always use more mags.

Just ran 5 rounds through the rotary mag in my A22 and no marks not even the slightest. Savage must of fixed this problem or may be just some rifles. If you did get one that marked I am sure that Savage would take care of it for you, I looking at getting a B22 precision as I do like the rotary mags in the colder weather. just find them easer to handle with cold hands, could be my age 73.You got to remember that they could sell 1,000 rifles and have 1 or 2 that scratch and they are the ones you will hear about over and over. Found this with a lot of things. I did have trouble with my first mag if I put more than 5 rounds in it I called Savage and had a new one with in a week or so. I cleaned the first one a couple of times and blue compressed air through it and have not had a problem sense, looks like it just need a very good cleaning. I have pretty well stuck to all Savage rifles now if the have on in the caliber I want. Just wish they would make a 444 marlin and 44 mag love those rounds. and am not fussy about tube feeds, under the barrel.

My Mark 2 like Center-X and SK rifle match... CCI SV falls apart after 150m, Center-X and SK hold far better consistency out to 300m
yep, definitely helped me decide to go with a CZ457

@@EpikArms You seemed to get kinda unlucky with both your Ruger Precision & B22. What are the odds...
Have a mk2 TRR-SR and shoots amazingly. Also has a very smooth bolt stock is great for anything but moving around though.
I have the same and love it dime size groups at 100m with SK ammo. My accutrigger went down to 2lbs and is very consistent with almost no creep
If you could only choose one and the BTV is a bit cheaper which would you choose? Ive heard the b 22 can be fussy. 🤔
Guy told me that you need to break in the mark 2 then it gets better action and accuracy.
Good review and as always great shooting. Take care.
Thanks Bobcat!
After the sharp edges on the bolt cam pin and the extraction issues on my B22fvsr savage’s quality has peaked and is declining. Good video 👍🏻

I like the mark 2. Does it have a threaded barrel
I really am tied between the b22 precision or a Tikka T1X. I much prefer a chassis but I’ve never seen a negative review for the tikka.
Go for the t1x 100% or the cz457

how about a B22 Magnum FV VS B22 Magnum Precision And the results of different length barrels 18" VS 21"

Savage should have stayed with the old steel single stack mags instead of reinventing the wheel. Very reason I won't buy a B22.

How do these compare to the Ruger American rimfire?
I had a stainless ruger american rimfire precision, my 457 shot circles around it, I really wanted it to shoot good, I sold it.
