Got a MK II a few days ago... very happy with it, though the barrel is just kissing the stock on the far end left side so I got to see what that's about. Whole reason I bought it was the threaded barrel. 17" barrel plus suppressor with CCI standard velocity is a riot lol. Sooo quiet, I'd swear it's quieter than several .22 air rifles. (Unmoderated)
I have the MDT system on my CZ527 223. It made a big difference in the accuracy of the gun. It was accurate before, but it is now a tack driver with one ragged hole at 100 yards very common.....MOA or less at 200 yards. The stability offered by the MDT stock system is even superior to glass bedding the factory stock. I did that and bedding did help. The MDT made it almost perfect...more comfortable than the factory stock as it is multi adjustable to fit just about anyone. Way to go Savage !!! teaming up with MDT....excellent idea.
I got a Ruger Precision Plinkster did a review using CCI Basic and CC Green Tag but with not as good results at 50yds. But he did not do 100yrs? I was going to pull the trigger and buy the Savage B22 until I found out the biggest hole in this platform. Its the magazines. The are none available even a Savage. And the Canadians banned all guns. Savage has an USA plant and Buttler Creek probably makes the Savage Mags. The have a banana magazine but no availability. Been watching for several months. No mags! So until Savage figures out the need to support what the sell? Or switch to a Ruger 10/22 magazine like everyone else? No Sale!
That design on the butt stock is called a "Hand Hook." Use your non dominant hand to press the rifle into your shoulder. Also, load your bipod. Loading the bipod is slightly pushing your body forward so the bipod flexes. Putting pressure on the rifle so everything is firmly positioned to your body. Watch Mile High Shooting Center videos. Frank is the host and will explain the concept further.
I've yet to see anyone review this rifle at 200-300+ yards like I need for PRS. One reviewer explained a bolt scrape problem where the bolt was slightly damaging the bullet in the top of the mag as the bolt loaded one in the chamber, and was saying no way you could be accurate at long distances with damaged bullets. If it didn't do that I'd say this was a helluva steal for a competition 22 in a decent chassis.
Enjoyable video. I'm almost 60 and have had my grandfather's old Stevens 87A since I was in middle school. Rabbits and squirrels feared that gun when I was a kid, LOL! I've been looking at something I could throw a scope on and I'm a bit partial to Savage because of owning grandpa's old Stevens guns. Just old farm guns kept by the kitchen door... for varmints! I like the super lightweight trigger also. Like you said, a lightweight trigger is a must for precision shooting. Nice scope also, especially at that price. All things to think about! Again, great video, thanks!
I have CZ 452, MARK 2 BULL BARREL AND THE PRECISION IN WMR. I love them all. I really like the savage triggers. You can improve by installing Apache trigger kit to lower your trigger sensitivity to below 1 lb. My wmr precision is set at 1.5 lbs out of the box. A great shooter @ >100 yards.
Honestly, neither. If Ruger would drop the American rimfire into an MDT chassis, or if Savage had built the B22 to function with 10/22 magazines, I'd be sold on either. But with the choices both manufacturers have made, my advice is "buy something else". If you want a Savage or Ruger, I'd be looking at the Ruger Long Range Target or the Savage Mark ii TRR
I wish you would’ve shot groups with more types of ammo with this rifle. As mentioned by someone else I would like to see a side by side comparison of this with the Ruger precision rimfire. Personally which one do you like better?
@@nephisilver3051 You're probably right about cz .22]s, they are the only .22 manufacturer with choked barrels. I have been extremely lucky with Savage though, and have not found better for the price. My Mark II can shoot 5 rounds @ 40 yards in the size of a dime with stock iron sights, so long as my old eyes cooperate and I use good ammo. I can't complain about that.
I think Ruger would have been a huge success if they had gone the same route and had MDT, or one of the other quality chassis manufacturers build a real aluminum chassis for it. The Ruger can be extremely accurate, but the factory plastic chassis and it's bedding is it's Achilles heel.
B K You should upgrade the trigger on your CZ. Check out YoDave trigger kits. They’re about $20US, comes with 4 shims and 4 springs. Basically let’s you go down to 1lb, or up to 4. I’ve put that kit in 5 different CZ 452s and only had one where I couldn’t get rid of all of the creep (probably 1/32 left). Really can’t recommend them enough. Takes 30mins to an hour to instal (some fiddling). I believe the 513 uses the same trigger mechanism as the 452/455.

I have found with my CZ 457, the kind of ammo used is very instrumental in getting good accuracy. I have found that my gun loves Federal 22 high velocity ammo and any sub sonic ammo. It is the ammo that has the most effect on accuracy when it comes to 22 rim fire I have found.
Picked up a 457 22wmr it's become my favorite rifle very quickly only ammo I've found to not be very accurate is the few nonlead options they're really only good under 25 yards

Great review, thank you, thinking of adding one to my safe. My range is only 70 yards so will most likely not need a scope that good. As soon as canning season is over going to put up a new back stop. Love shooting .22 and also my 444 marlin one extreme to the other.
The Tikka T1x is made by Sako, I'm sorry but they're not even in the same class. My Tikka groups as good at 100m as any of my Anschutz's or Sako's, the T1x is the best gun out there for under 500.00 no contest, it's better than most 1000. guns.

I bought a wmr version from Bud’s. About $480. My Mark 2 with standard velocity will group just as well. However, at 100 yds, WMR does much better. I will be trying several different ammos to see what works the best. It’s still cold here, so when it warms up, I will be out there more.
Got it in .22WMR. Wish ammo manufacturers would put some effort into making match ammo. 50 yards standard ammo does pretty good but by the time you're at 100 yards groups are like 3-4x bigger.
I was supposed to buy a 22 precision rifle. Dern gun store had a kimber with a tiny scratch that took 300 off the price so there went the precision money. But that was last month so in a few days money in hand I'll be looking again. I think some of the comments about Ruger have been helpful. I gave away a 77/22 that was good enough for hunting rabbits but was never a good paper puncher. I very much liked seeing the Savage make a nice group at 50. Groups are just where it is at.
Nice shooting ! You should redo the Ruger Precision Rimfire range shooting again using the Lead Sled rest, probably make a difference from the bags, no pushing or squeezing the gun/bags for nestle pressure.
Here is another option for adding elevation to your optic setup. FX airguns sells rings that have elevation adjustment. They can be adjusted very finely and the overall elevation range they can achieve is quite high or low. The rings are called “FX No Limit”.
Great view. Really nice rifle. A bit too much for me. I'll probably end up with a tactical solutions rifle and a scope that has a far less busy reticle.
Target accutrigger has been around for years. I think they claim 6 OZ, but most people keep it up closer to 1 lb. I guess they've never offered it in a 22 though.
A grand for one of the few accurate 22’s? Nope doesn’t add up. Sickening how in our country we always have far to many options of poor performing products, in a technology time where great products should be the norm. It’s a 22 for god sakes. I’m happy with my savage 64 $135 with similar grouping & a China scope $35. Yes I said it. At a grand I’ll be looking at a 300 mag. But great review. Keep up the good work. Great content !
Agree with you---why they don t test side by side vintage ones with the new "wonderguns" many years ago a Saurio modelo 6oo rifle /es a clone of Stenens model 87 produced one hole groups at 50 meters, had a German microgroove barrel, anyhow would put to shame most of those modern .22 s..........
You mentioned using the Arken scope on an air gun. My experience is that an air gun can destroy scopes that are not air gun rated. Many quality scopes for center fire rifles are damaged by air guns. Am I off base here?
@@22plinkster FWIW, the problem you are referring to with air guns is with spring piston airguns only, and it only applies to old scopes made before all of the scope manufacturers got wise to the issue with the problem of the brutal whiplash double recoil from spring piston airguns. I don't know of any scopes being made today lacking the essential double bracing of the lenses that allows a scope to be used on a spring piston airgun. I would bet the price of the Arken scope that it would stand up just fine to the severe double recoil from even a Gamo Hunter Extreme.

Super light had to turn it up trigger was going off on bolt slam.(no bang) accutrigger caught as its supposed to!
Another sold. I love Savage rifles but I'm genuinely enthusiastic about testing that optic setup. 0 stop, huge tube and side focus for half a grand... Are you kidding me? That beats switching out the same $1200 scope between 3 or 4 hunting and plinking rifles all damned day in North Georgia- math elsewhere may vary, but with my budget it's good 'nuff. This is actually the 3rd or 4th review of the scope I've seen but I've been waiting for it to debut here and I think you picked the perfect rimfire to review it on. Thanks, bud.
I'm finally picking this rifle up on Sunday but in 17hmr. It's my first 17hmr so I'm crazy excited, I've been stocking up on 17hmr ammo for 2 years while I was being really picky about a rifle then this was introduced and it's just perfect. I might have some parts cerokoted a bronze/copper mix but I cant wait to play with the trigger. The accutrigger has always been trash on savage rimfires but I've only heard good things about this orange blade accutrigger.
My mark 2 loves cci standard velocity. Keep the barrels CLEAN. After 4 or 5 fouling shots, it will group tightly at 50 yards. Not hard to group within an inch circle. Standard velocity ammo is cheap($7)and shoots as well as the green tag. I highly recommend cleaning the barrel and try different ammos. Every rifle has its favorite ammo even within the same brand and model. Also, as the barrel warms up, POI will spread. I usually take 2 or 3 rifles to let one cool when I notice the change in POI.
It was your second shot at 100yds. Looks pretty good, need to take my rifles to a place where I can shoot 50 and 100yds. All I've done is indoor range at 25yds. The MDT Chassis looks nice, but those crosshair emblem/logos make it look cheap. One of my favorite rifles is the Savage 110FCP in .338 Lapua Magnum. Also a fan of Bergara Rifles, was hoping we could get a review of the Bergara BXR?
Reticle is too complicated. We run a .22 Sniper Match at our club in Hoover, AL. We shoot steel targets at 50, 75,100, 125, 150 and 200 yds. 10 at each distance. 200 target is 5" x 6". You are correct in finding what ammo shoots best in YOUR rifle.
I wish you would do a review on the Keystone Precision Trainer, but I think the Varmint is easier to find. There are hardly any videos on it and it's pretty darn accurate.
I worked for Savage making their rimfire rifles in Lakefield for over a year and a half and I can safely say their B22 is the best 22 they make. The 93 series is alright but the B and A series have much better construction and its deadly accurate when it is made right. Depends on who swung the gun together, might get a sloppy bolt every now and then but I always made sure the bolt was slightly over tight just so then when it wears in you get the best fit possible.
@@GevarM96 exactly the stock was the worst part of the design, I suggest buying the wood stock version the B22 G. I have a B17 G and it makes shooting a lot more enjoyable and doesnt feel like such a toy. I also put a tactical rail from the FV-SR series on mine, adds a bit more height to the rail and looks sweet with a scope.
Hmm. Not sure about this. I was at the range day before yesterday with a Ruger 77/22 shooting common Thunderbolt 22lr. I was able to hold 2 inches at 100 yds in a fairly strong wind. The scope is an inexpensive ProStaff 2-9x variable. I was sitting using a sandbag on the forearm end and only my arm/shoulder on the butt end. Also, I didn't have an exact point of aim because I had to shoot about 6 inches high of the bullseye. I've belonged to a couple clubs and I know I'm just a middle-of-the-road marksman. I have a Weihrauch 17hmr. Most amazing gun I own. Build quality is far above anything else, including my Lithgow, CZ and savage
Would love to see a side by side comparison between the Savage B22 Precision and the Ruger Precision 22.
No Sale!
ruger precision vs cz 457 mtr vs savage b22 precision we want to see it plinkster!!! keep up the good work love the channel...
I feel like you just cost me money.
only if you buy one spend the extra and get the V22

How about a review on a CZ 457 Pro Varmint or a Ruger Precision.
Go to the archives-- he did those a year or more ago.
@@knokname6466 I watched the Ruger video, thanks! Still cant find his review for a cz 457.
I’m keeping my CZ 452. It’s got a walnut stock. :)
wood warps
But it looks good doing it. 😇
I’d get the CZ varmint for the same money as well, this is nothing but an old savage with a MDT chassis. The CZ is a higher quality rifle.
There’s a rebate on these right now and you can find them for 190ish new
You’re a great shot, so for you to say that it’s super windy your groups are excellent! Great video, thank you for your review, I learned a lot.
First thing I noticed: MKII bolt. I love my MKII. If this gun is anything like an MKII with a box mag then it's the only better rifle than an MKII
I love my MK2 also. Next one is probably going to be a CZ though. And i want an Anschutz hunting rifle one day.
You can get an MDT chassis for the MKII. That is what I plan to do for mine.
So if you were to choose 1 precision 22 between the Ruger and the Savage, which would you pick?
Honestly, neither. If Ruger would drop the American rimfire into an MDT chassis, or if Savage had built the B22 to function with 10/22 magazines, I'd be sold on either. But with the choices both manufacturers have made, my advice is "buy something else". If you want a Savage or Ruger, I'd be looking at the Ruger Long Range Target or the Savage Mark ii TRR
what about using "precision" rifles like this to cut off a card bit by bit
you can do that with any gun might take 1 shot or 123423324 shots but you can do it :D
@@koopasayer5999 well i think we know it can be done.... mind blown.

We need a full comparison between this or the ruger precision, and the CZ 457 chassis... see if the CZ is worth the extra money.
Someone Else yes!
I have a CZ 457 At one 16".22lr and a Savage B17 precision 16" in 17HMR and the build Quality on the CZ is much nicer.
Nice video and thank you for taking the time to pattern a second group! I knew it was the wind but that 2nd group confirmed it! Excellent shooting
I wish you would’ve shot groups with more types of ammo with this rifle. As mentioned by someone else I would like to see a side by side comparison of this with the Ruger precision rimfire. Personally which one do you like better?
Andi a CZ rifle the CZ cost less andI will mop the floor with both those rifles
@@nephisilver3051 You're probably right about cz .22]s, they are the only .22 manufacturer with choked barrels. I have been extremely lucky with Savage though, and have not found better for the price. My Mark II can shoot 5 rounds @ 40 yards in the size of a dime with stock iron sights, so long as my old eyes cooperate and I use good ammo. I can't complain about that.
A head to head with the Ruger would be cool

No CCI "STANGERS". :0)
Good point on the rail. I like to play at 200 yds with a .22 lt is very interesting what it can do.🇨🇦🤠outstanding group!

You should redo the Ruger Precision Rimfire range shooting again using the Lead Sled rest, probably make a difference from the bags, no pushing or squeezing the gun/bags for nestle pressure.
WOW, ACCURATE!!! Good job Savage!
Here is another option for adding elevation to your optic setup. FX airguns sells rings that have elevation adjustment. They can be adjusted very finely and the overall elevation range they can achieve is quite high or low. The rings are called “FX No Limit”.
But do they hold?
this rifle can do dime sized groups at 100 to 150 yards with no wind. its really a great rifle. i got my kid one for his birthday.

You mentioned using the Arken scope on an air gun. My experience is that an air gun can destroy scopes that are not air gun rated. Many quality scopes for center fire rifles are damaged by air guns. Am I off base here?
I've heard that about springers alright.
PCP air guns, not spring operated guns. 👍

It's my first 17hmr so I'm crazy excited, I've been stocking up on 17hmr ammo for 2 years while I was being really picky about a rifle then this was introduced and it's just perfect. Savage is my second choice, Vudoo v22 is my first choice
I call it a tailhook - that part on the stock you mentioned
Clean the barrel and swap your ammo. Try the Federal Value pack ammo 36 gr. See if the groups tighten up.
You should shoot your favorite rifle for a comparison of the wind alongside the savage.
If you were using a Weaver T36 you could see your group at 100 yards and have a $100 bill left in your pocket.
or a tasco 40X for 100$

How about a review of the Savage A22 Precision?
I worked for Savage making their rimfire rifles in Lakefield for over a year and a half and I can safely say their B22 is the best 22 they make. The 93 series is alright but the B and A series have much better construction and its deadly accurate when it is made right. Depends on who swung the gun together, might get a sloppy bolt every now and then but I always made sure the bolt was slightly over tight just so then when it wears in you get the best fit possible.
I have a B22 FVSS that will shoot just as good as the this one at least at 50yds. The only thing holding back is the terrible plastic stock.
Please shoot without the suppressor sometimes. Would you get the same results without it?
The chassis on the Savage looks really sweet. The rifle is impressive but for me the Ruger Precision has more bang for the buck.
I'm not a hotshot. You're the expert, so I believe you, but those groups don't seem to be the result of really high-end equipment. Perhaps I just had a lucky day?
I LOVE THE WAY Y IT SHOOTS AND WAY IT SOUNDS,ANOTHER NICE VIDEO.
