Yes, they require time & attention because they are programmed to work, to be alert & assist with chores. We inherited our Red Heeler and it wasn’t until I watched all these TH-cam videos that I realized that all of her mischief was because we treated her like our other dogs-the fat & sassy ones. When we started taking her to the creek and playing fetch 3x a day she blossomed into an energetic & entertaining companion. I’ll have other dogs too, but I’ll always have at least one ACD around to keep me active.

Blue Heelers are great dogs but have you ever heard of a Breed called a McNabb? My grandfather had them on his land. One day he called Jane his McNabb over, pointed in a general direction and said, "Jane, there's a cow over there getting ready to give birth. I want you to bring her and put her in the Corral. The dog bolts into action headed in the direction he pointed. She comes back with this pregnant cow. Lol The cow didn't want to go where she wanted so she double back, round the cow, pull the cow's tail and swing when it wouldn't listen; successfully flipping the cow. She guided the cow into the corral successfully too. My grandaddy only had to just shut the gate. Excellent working dogs.
My ACD was born without tail full in the breed checked with vet. He's our family dog, hasn't worked on a farm before I would love to see him. We live in the city. Loyal and protector. We absolutely adore him. Beautiful breed of dog.
Your dog is probably an Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog. Two of my 4 Blue Heelers / ACD’s are Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dogs; both of my females were born w/out tails. Stumpy Tails are the best dog ever!!! Stumpy Tails are extremely smart & have tons of personallity!! Look up the breed Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog for more details ~ are naturally bobtailed or tailles. Purchase your ACD a herding ball to help develop their natural instinct! Best of luck!

There's a chance you may get an ACD with a stumpy tail, as with the ASTCD, it's definitely going to have a stumpy tail. I'm lucky enough to have a ACD cross ASTCD. Not trying to be a dick, just thought, I'd let you know. No matter what, they're excellent dogs!
I have had 2 ACDs first one 17.5 years 2nd one currently 15 years and 4 months, Smart as!!!!, The funniest bumper sticker read, The keys are on the seat beside my Blue Heeler.
Basically the Swiss Army knife or Leatherman Multi-Tool of dogs. There are other 100% perfect 1or 2 skill specialty breeds but, this breed has a far superior range of a multitude of skills.
ACD are smart and specific dogs. I met one Red Heeler female,she was quick lerner,funny,and gently with toddler. I hope your dog is still in good condition,all the best to you both😃
Australian Cattle even mixed with/Border Collies as mine was, have intelligence knots on the top center of their head. The bigger they are, the smarter. Yours must have a huge one!!! ❤️
I’ve got two border heelers and it just blows my mind how much you can actually see them thinking… I wouldn’t be surprised if they opened their mouths and actually talked to me one day lol
Dam you’ve got a smart dog there I’ve got a 7mo old that strong headed as hell she doesn’t even want to drop a ball when we’re playing fetch so I can throw it again you’ve done very well my friend 👍👍👍
I'm on my second heeler. Travels with me every day. As long as you r OK being stared at 24 7 best dog in the world. Got to teach mine to do this. Problem is I'll have to throw a ball or Frisbee as he will pretty much do anything for that.
Great dog .. have a red ACD myself very smart dogs. Try cutting back on snacks tho he looks a little over weight ...I give my dog raw foods for snacks less fat...
@@nickg2366 he’s a beautiful dog but don’t trust your vet about weight, keeping humans and animals over weight is the number one way western medicine doctors keep their jobs. Remember a couple pounds over weight in a dog is exponential to their frame and health. Humans should never be more than 20 lbs over their proportionate weight. Every animals heart is designed to pump for its proportionate body weight. The more mass it has to pump through the harder it’s got to work. No heart disease for our healers they deserve the best healthiest lives !!!
I hope this is just a bit of a demo of your dog's intelligence and that you don't always treat gorgeous doggo like a four legged forklift fetcher and carrier. I'm pretty sure you must reward such patient loyalty with pats and neck scruffles and kind words not just treats. Only an egotist could be immune to such an irresistable and expectant doggo smiley face.

Lol, he's not fat! He comes from good stock! He's about 60lbs and the vet said he's a healthy weight👍 Thx for watching, ACD's are the best 🤗
