I moved to Des Moines in March of 2024 from St. Joseph Mo. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and plan to experience all the amazing things Des Moines has to offer. One thing that I wanted to share is the wonderful bike trails that feature over 4000 miles of connected trails with some of the most breathtaking countryside views! Great job! Happy Travels!!
This was incredibly well done! As someone who's lived in Iowa my entire life (10 years in young adulthood in Des Moines, the last 35 about an hour away), I've seen almost all of the sites. But you added new life to places I often look past. I used to work downtown and loved it! Your video and voice over of the capitol gave me shivers. My dad was a State Legislator for many years, and I tried to visit him there at least once a year. Such a grand building. I love the Yankee Doodle Pops concert with the Des Moines Symphony on the Capitol lawn looking over the East Village. Now I really need to get to the farmers market. Again, this was a really excellent video!
Brian the city should pay you for that video. Your videography skills & narration are fantastic as always. We always love your videos & watching you & Michelle is so fun. Definitely our favorite channel. 💜
Thank you for another great video. As many times as I have traveled THROUGH Des Moines, you have shown me reasons to slow down and really visit the City of Des Moines. Thanks again!
Bryan, you do such an amazing job putting these videos together. The narration is the best, and the footage is perfect. Des Moines needs to use this video as their commercial. It made me even more proud to be part of this great city and state. 🙂
We were just at the Farmer’s Market last Saturday in Des Moines. Spent the last 3.5 months just southeast of DesMoines. Sold the family farmer and moved stuff to Texas yesterday. We love Iowa.
@@LivinRVisionoh wow. Since your videos are delayed, never know where you are until after you’ve been there. Maybe next time. We’re home now. Next planned trip is Texas in Nov. going to First Mondays in Canton for the Oct 31 weekend then exploring fir a few weeks before home for Thanksgiving. Safe travels!
❤️ I know this was centered on just Des Moines, but wished a few other attractions were mentioned, such as the State Fair, Waveland Cafe, and all of the linked trails, including the high trestle trail. And, of course, RAGBRAII. Thanks! ❤️
I believe the State Fair was mentioned, but like any of our videos, there was only so much that I could do in a short amount of time including other things that were not mentioned yourself. I have 5 days only to do the best I can on each video. So much that you don’t realize. Glad you enjoyed it though. 🧡😊🤓
Loved that you did this video because Des Moines is such a cool place! We were bummed that this summer some of the Corps of Engineers campgrounds were closed for work on them but of course understand upkeep is important. I do wish you would have shared how absolutely amazing the Des Moines network of paved multi purpose trails is! We are cyclists and live in Marion, IA and although we have wonderful multipurpose trails as well, they don’t hold a candle to Des Moines’! Also thanks for sharing about the pie place in Bondurant! We’ve cycled there but didn’t know about Pie Girl’s favorite pie place! :)
About 120 miles east of Des Moines on I-80 is the little town of West Branch. It is the home of President Herbert Hoover. There is a National Park Service historical site and his presidential library. It is an interesting and worthwhile stop.
Loved this as my bestie in Seattle is from there as well. Beautiful overview and cute to hear about tour first date at the movie theater. The pie looked yummy!! Happy travels❤
Your video presentation and informative narration is second to none. If I had not lost my travelling companion I would be following in your footsteps to some of the places you bring into my home via You Tube. You are a lovely couple.
Great video! We'll have to add Des Moines to our bucket list... much like all of your other places you've shown on videos! We need to get busy seeing what ya'll see! Keep them coming! Safe travels.
This brought back memories of meeting you guys there on my way to MN. Had a great time at the Saturday market, horse racing & I had a "pint" at Annie's Irish pub. Adventureland CG was great and walking across to the casino & watching the horse racing. Good times. Best, Brian
Great video. We live in Phoenix AZ now but are originally from Chicago, videos like this one remind us of the great midwestern charm…makes us a bit homesick, but don’t miss those ccccold winters, lol. Love your work/travels!
We can totally relate. Now that we have been seeing so much of our country, we only miss Iowa because of family. Des Moines is a very nice small city, but there is so much more out there in terms of weather and sightseeing.
Omg that Key Lime pie had my heart in palpitations. I love farmers markets, just the smell of all the fresh produce . Is that an every weekend thing? I loved the looks on your faces as you strolled through memory lane. Des Moines looks like a very clean city. If the people are as nice as you guys, then it must be a great place to live and visit.
I’m wondering do you see your self ever getting a class A or Fifth wheel or travel trailer? Or are you intent on staying with the class B? We have a fifth wheel and wondering if we go smaller will we regret it.
We don’t see ourselves ever going to a fifth wheel unless it would sit in place at a lot. Too many things go wrong and most seen to just not be built well enough for constant movement. A Class A can be the same, depending on the make, plus they can be expensive to maintain. So far the Class B has lessened our stress quite a bit from when we had the 40’ Class A as well as the Airstream Classic 33FB. We also don’t see ourselves living in a van the rest of our lives either.we love to travel, so we don’t plan for that to stop. It’s a tough decision, we completely understand, but only you can make that decision on what’s best for you.
Beautiful video. Adventureland campgrounds are getting so “run down” that we stop at Griffs Rv park a couple miles away from Adventureland. Next time we will take the cycle trail over to bondurant and get pie!! Thx!
Agree, it needs some updating. It’s not much of a problem for us because as long as we still have our “home“ and bed we’re usually happy enough but aesthetically it would be nice to see some updates. We don’t use any of the amenities since we are always so busy. Griff’s is a great campground, but you have to make reservations about a year in advance to get in. Many times we’re not sure what date we will be there.
Sounds like you guys missed it. Michelle knows her pies. I think you guys can be on to something with pie reviews just like Dave portnoy one bite reviews of pizza. I always enjoy how she rates each pie she tastes. Try to include one in every video. Travel safe.
That’s an in incredible capital!! Des Moines Chamber of commerce should use this video for visitors to see (plus give ya a little money for your time 😁) I would love to go to the horse races, always something I wanted to do, don’t ask me why 🤔 safe travels!!! 😁
Adventureland works out better for us for a few reasons, our grandkids are close by and it is a closer drive when we have to drive downtown Mon-Wed mornings while we are there in the area.

They are the farm teams of the Minnesota teams. If a player does well enough, the MN teams may call them up as needed or if someone is not doing so well or rehabilitating, they will play here until they feel they are well enough and needed. Like a reserves.
😂 We didn’t move away, we sold our house to travel the country full time. We could do videos about many different places in this beautiful country we live in and tell you why they are so great.
I actually lived in the Quad cities and I’ve never been to Des Moines and I live in Wichita Kansas so have to make a road trip. Thanks for all the ideas to do.
I live in Des Moines and was feeling all kinds of proud to watch your video about my hometown! :-) Happy Camping!
The Iowa Capital building is beautiful, definitely worth the stop. Thanks for sharing.

Liked seeing Mike Housholder on the tv at the beginning of the video. Pleasant Hill IA.
I enjoy the way you present all your videos 😊
Great homage to Des Moines.
Loved this episode as Des Moines and Waukee are my hometowns. Live in Joliet, IL now but was just back to Des Moines the end of June.
Amazing video, you truly are a gifted word smith. Thank you for sharing your home State. ❤️
As a Cubs fan living in Altoona, I love every part of this video
That capital building is amazing. It has to take a lot of work to keep it that pristine. Thanks for sharing!

You did a outstanding job in depicting Iowa and it's beauty. Makes me miss my home town

Was there over the 4th! Stayed with friends in Stuart and went to DesMoines several times. New favorite store is Scheels! Stay safe!

Growing up in Webster City I would spend a lot of time in Des Moines visiting with family. Sure do miss that. Thanks for sharing ❤❤
Great video as always. Our son went to boys state in Des Moines and at the end of the week they sang as a group at the capital, the sound was amazing

The Capital is Beautiful!! Would love to hear a Q&A on your life before traveling. Like how many children and grands you have.
That was an amazing video, extremely will done. We will want to send time exploring Des Moines. Thank you for all you guys do.
If you are a history buff or homeschooler, my favorite is Living History Farm.
Yes, that’s another. 👍🏻 It’s been years since we have been there. That was back in grade school for us both during a field trip.
