    On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-17-22.
    We’re looking at a 1970 Chevrolet Yenko Deuce Nova in Citrus Green Paint. The car comes with a 350 CI V8 “LT-1” engine with a 4 Speed manual transmission.
    The car's Caretaker is Stefano Bimbi. Stefano’s once owned this car in 2015. Stefano shares less than 200 were originally produced, only about 100 are know of today, and this is one of the very few restored to specification like it came from Don Yenko Chevrolet Dealership.
    If you’d like to visit Stefano’s Nickey Performance Location, go to www.NickeyPerformance.com

    Great video. My older brother's close friend bought a 1970 dark green with white strips Yenko Deuce used in the summer of 1970. He bought it from Roger Penske's Chevrolet Dealership used car lot off Telegraph Rd near Detroit MI. The amazing part is Roger himself came out to talk with my brother's friend about the car. When he realized how interested Mike was in the car, Roger told him to get in and let him drive it around in the lot. While doing so, Roger told him to give it some throttle. Mike did so, and that sealed the deal. Roger told him a lady bought the car new and it was too much for her, so she traded it in for another vehicle. I can't remember the milage, but I know it was very low. That car was very quick, you could matt it and the traction was so good, it hardly broke traction. I can remember the springs in the beach seat would compress completely when launching hard from a stand still. It was an automatic, with 4:10 rear end with a Hurst His and Hers shifter. One warm summer night on Woodward Ave, Mike raced a brand-new1970 purple with white side strips Hemi Challenger. It was an automatic as well. Mike raced the car three times. Each race from a standing start was very close, but the Yenko Deuce won each time by about half a car. Needleless to say, the guy driving the Challenger was disappointed. Sense my brother had to work the night shift, I was the lucky one who got to ride shotgun with Mike. Man, that summer is one I will never forget. So many close races and most of the time the Yenko Deuce would win. It would launch hard with little wheel spin and that was a great advantage for street racing. Mike never ran it at the drag strip, but I would imagine it would run in the high 12's. It sure felt like it would. Mike had the car for about 6 years and then sold it. It was ridden hard and put away wet. It needed a rebuild. Mike was hard on that car. If Mike only knew what that car would be worth in the future, he would have held onto it and restored it. I am sure many have said those words about their hot rods of the 60's and early 70's. I was 17 in the summer of 1970, and the amazing sound of two high performance cars going through the gears while the windows were down, is something one had to experience to fully understand how awesome that sound really is. Thanks for the video, it took me back to a time in my life that I will never forget.

    I got Grandma's Citrus Green 1969 bare bones, dog bowl hubcaps Nova str8 6 banger in 1977 when I was 16. She moved on to a 1977-78 Dodge Aspen. I added garbage night found similarly green kitchen carpeting fitted and glued down which looked good IMHO. Bucket seats came from a buddy junking his blown-engine Vega. Last was a similarly designed racing steering wheel from Murray's Auto Parts. Thanks now I know the name of the color thanks to you and Stefano.

I've always been a bigger fan of the 327 fuel injected he mentioned and even the carbureted Novas, both were good, especially the 68s but this is one amazing car. This 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova is the ultimate muscle car. That citrus green paint job looks awesome, and the 350 LT-LT1 is definitely a 4-bolt main crankshaft with the dipstick on the drivers side. A 2-bolt main crank, the dipstick is on the passenger side. It sounds healthy, and the car is equipped with a manual 4-speed transmission, making it all the better. The Plain Jane interior makes it a true muscle car with no frills. What a true beauty. Nice ride Lou! Wish it were outdoors!

Saludos cordiales Lou!

    the johnny ligtning company is currently selling a 1974 pontiac gto. I know the body style is different from the 1970 version. That miniature car toy has the same body style of a 1974 chevrolet nova which just came out recently, in a very limited number special edition red color. I can't put the site on here, but it is easy to search for and purchase. they are selling for around fourteen dollars if you're interested. I know it isn't the same car as this but if you don't support it with a purchase, then they likely won't make another version of it, possibly as a 1974 chevrolet nova next time. Anyway, it is worth purchasing if you like that body style. It is the first well known manufacturer that I know of, that is making a miniature car in this body style.

    Most Yenko SC cars were 427 Camaros back then with a few 427 Chevelle’s thrown in. Don’t believe the Deuces were big sellers for Yenko. Yenko Chevy was in Canonsburg PA about a 15 minute drive from where I grew up. These Deuces were quite fast and I would luv to know what the sticker cost was on this low option car. Remember you could buy the big L78 396 /375 horse Nova at that time and they were much more popular. A stock 350 Nova put out around 275 horse and cost less than $3000 then. On another note, I knew a guy in High school back then whose mother bought him a new 427 Yenko Camaro for his 16th birthday! He didn’t kill himself in it either by the way. Kept it 2 years and traded it for a new Monte Carlo. BIG mistake!

      The numbers are debated but widley accepted are 201 Camaros, 99 Chevelles and 30 Novas (Not all were converted to 427), all with 427s in 1969. 1970, 175 Deuces with only 1 prototype 1970 Camaro.

    You should try and get the RRP of people when talking about the cars sometimes in their research they may know what they cost originally and they may even have bought it them self.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that interested in that, however sometimes we'll see that when there is a window sticker if they have them.

      It would be cool to know what a person originally paid for a car back in the 1950s, 60s or 1970s.
      There is so much regional variation on the prices and deals people got and sometimes the hard work they did in saving for the car.

      Hi Joe, Happy to read this is a "favorite whips" for you :-) Hmmm, not sure. Guessing the 1969 Yenko Nova might be the 1st, so maybe the 1970 is the Deuce? Hoping a Viewer with knowledge car share, Lou

    Forgive me for perhaps missing the obvious, but what does "Deuce" mean in this application?

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anthony C, Hmmm, I don't know why I never thought of that before. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge. I'm guessing it was the 2nd Nova to the 1969? Lou

    • @stefanobimbi9466
      @stefanobimbi9466 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "From 1962 through 1967, the car itself was called the Chevy II, and Nova was a trim level." So the "Deuce" name is a throw back to the original Chevy IIs.

    My grandson had a green '72 with the 350. He wanted to swap a 396 in it's place because it put out 375hp. While talking talking with a machinist in Pomona by the name of Bob Leonhardt, Bob asked if he'd heard of the LT1 350 that put out the same horsepower. My grandson hadn't, and Bob proceeded to educate us both. The Nova ended up with a motor which put out nearly 450hp and still got almost 20 mpg on the highway. This was in 1984.

    Nice car but his claim to the fact that the LT-1 in 1970 having 420-25hp in stock trim is simply not true or realistic! I have owned 2 in my day, one in a Z28 and one in corvette. It's very apparent if you look at the trap times of the cars tested back in the day, they do not correspond to 425hp. The most powerful SB in the era was none other than the Boss351 found in the 1971 Boss 351 mustang.
