It's cool to see people like Char, Amuro, and even Kai Shiden fight from an outside viewpoint. Shows how terrifying both Amuro and Char were, and that even resident punk Kai Shiden was a good pilot.
Thing is that the novelization confirmed that Kai Shiden is a NewType.
I know this is an old comment, but that guncannon isn't Kai. Thats 203. Kai's and Hayato's guncannons are 108 and 109 respectively, 203 was an unknown pilot who participated in A Baoa Qu.
From the wiki: "During the Zeon attack on Side 7, only one RX-77-2 Guncannon survived the attack. It was stationed aboard the Pegasus-Class assault carrier White Base and piloted by Kai Shiden. However, when the White Base made its way to Jaburo, another unit was transferred to the White Base to replace the Guntank. It was piloted by Hayato Kobayashi. To separate the two units, they were named the "C-108" and "C-109". Both units were heavily damaged at the last battle of the One Year War at the Zeon's space fortress A Baoa Qu. A third unit, codenamed "203",[7] also participated in the battle, though its ultimate fate was unknown. Kai's Guncannon later reappears in Hayato's mobile suit museum in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. "

We need more grunt battles like this. As much as I love watching the mc going to town, looking at you mika!!!, I would like it if the show is more tactical rather than I got dis here shiny robot that zips around landing shots like shooting womp rats back on Tatooine.
Grunts are where it's at. Mobile suit Gundam battle operation 2 focuses heavily on the grunt units from 0079
I agree but don’t look at Mikazuki because they don’t have “grunts” the people they send to battle are family

Uh. That is Guncannon piloted by Kai Shiden. It is his fighting style. Go check the old classic 0079 anime. Kai use Guncannon to kick Zaku of from the cliff.
interesting to see this from the perspective of the grunts getting mowed down by armuro and char, really gives you a sense of how terrifying those two really were

You can heard the mild panic in the Zeon pilot's voice as he tells Erik that the Gundam has arrived. I think that itself speaks volumes in how many Zeon personnel have nightmares over the Gundam.
@@HaloFTW55 yeah I'm pretty sure you would have nightmares to after hearing storys on how it can take on your entire strike forces and of course some storys by zeon might be over done to give it a demon appearance to the people to fear it even more

One of the few times a Mobile Armor wasn't blown up by getting stabbed with a beam saber.
We desperately need a new UC series with that kind of animation and focus on grunt battles. AUs are cool, but it's been a while since we had a good UC series, and the only series that managed to do grunts right was 08th MS Team, which is starting to show its age in some places and has some big issues (the whole "both sides are just as bad" BS for example).
Besides, there are a lot of cool grunt suits that deserve far more screen time than they got (especially on the Feds side, since Zeon have lots of nostalgia moments of museum pieces wrecking modern suits FOR SOME REASON), such as the Guncannon MP or the GM Sniper II (that thing was supposed to have Gundam level stats, and it got less than 10 seconds of footage !). I mean, even the Ball got its moment of awesome, can't the others have some love ?

Except in the U.C. timeline the Earth Federation and Zeon WERE just as bad as each other. The Federation was corrupt as hell and was bent on Spacenoid oppression and subjugation while Zeon was far too zealous in their justified war for independence.

New Gundam shows, take note of this. Especially despite being like 10 years old, we are invested in the care of animation and fighting techniques. The Build Divers/ Fighters series completely miss this imo.

we need a Gundam show that has the main character as a grunt and you can see all the Gundam battles from his point of view . and he is not a frickin kid . I think It would be a nice Gundam spin off show .now the question is what grunt suit dose he pilot

It was indeed Kai. The animators said they made a mistake after it was already finished and that they had intended that guncannon to be Kai. That's why it does that kick and why Amuro is directly following behind it. I believe they made sure to correct that mistake when they did the manga of this game.

i started watching everything UC related but i dont remember this.
Sadly this isn't from a full series, its just a short prequel OVA for the MCs of the video game Battlefield Record. Still awesome though.

ゲルググの取り回しの悪いビームライフルが惜しい。そしてゲルググのリリースが遅れた原因の一つ。連邦のジムのように先ずは簡易版のスプレーガンで出していれば戦局は変わっていたのでは。ゲルググ本体は１０月には出来上がっていたそうだからジオンの裏方はかなり混乱していたのだろうか。

Actually it can. They use particle technology, firing a burst of energy, not a beam. Although beams would be cooler.
@@miafillene4396 Umm they are beams, the Ex-T2-2 Beam Bazooka which is what we see at this timestamp was a prototype weapon that had it's own internal reactor that utilized mega particle compression instead of the E-Cap seen on the beam weapons of the Federation where charged particles were already stored. This meant that the Ex-T2-2 Beam Bazooka had a longer operational time and more powerful particle beams over the mass produced E-Cap beam weapons the Federation had which were only able to fire a few shots.
Zeon in their bid to catch up to the Federation in mass producing beam weapons for mobile suits pretty much ripped a Musai Deck cannon and shrunk it as much as possible and gave it it's own reactor and thus they came up with this Beam Bazooka which was originally designed for the Rick Dom but would also be adapted for use by the Pezun Dowadge. However if the reactor overheated or used up all of it's particles it would take about 10 minutes to recharge or cool it down which was far longer than swapping out an E-Cap or recharging one. So the Ex-T2-2 Beam Bazooka never went into mass production and was only seen used by a handful of Rick Doms.

This particular video is set during the Battle of A Baoa Qu, which is in December 0079. The main game that this video is for takes place during 0081.
