- Arai Helmets Overview and Sizing Guide
www.revzilla.co...
Arai has been making premium helmets for well over 50 years and the Arai name has always been synonymous with quality. What makes Arai helmets stand out is their commitment to quality and the high level of safety standards each and every helmet Arai produces must meet. Arai has a complete range of full face helmets from their most modest Vector 2 to the most exotic Corsair V. Arai was also the first helmet manufacturer to produce a Dual Sport helmet with the first XD helmet, which is now on its third iteration. For folks who prefer an open face helmet, Arai has two offerings, including the new CT-Z which is inarguably the most protective and safe open face helmet available. The Arai commitment to safety means EVERY helmet must pass 3 separate inspection points and use their own set of internal rigorous testing standards that exceed any nationalized test out there. Every Snell 2010 helmet in the Arai range uses 5 shell sizes, making each offering the strongest, lightweight, most optimized shell available. As Mr. Arai has been quoted "We don't make helmets, we make Arais." What more can we say?
Anthony I want to thank you for taking the time to present these vids,
Your product knowledge and presentation is so useful to so many of us
The feature set is nearly identical from the RX-Q to the Signet Q. The Signet Q uses the new SAI Max-vision faceshield, and the newer FCS cheekpads (both slight upgrades over the RX-Q). If you liked the features of the RX-Q, but the fit was off, the Signet Q is the clear winner. ~Ali
I'm not riding yet but plan on getting my motorcycle in the coming months. I have been watching all your videos for the past year. I'm trying to arm myself with as much knowledge about motorcycling as I possibly can so that I am better equipped when the time comes.
I must say, that your videos should be a benchmark for all others who review things here on youtube. They are very professional, are loaded with tons of info, & have a very good speaker in front of the cam.
Thank you.
This is an old video I know but thank you for telling me my helmet should be tight for the first few rides before they break in. I almost bought a size too large.
Thank you, thank you again.
The Arai Corsair V is an incredible helmet. If you plan on taking your helmet to the track on a regular basis, this is a great option. If you only ride street, I think you'll prefer the Signet Q or the RX-Q (depending on head shape) for the street. ~Ali
Like a finely crafted samurai sword, Arai is the track weapon of choice from Moto GP riders to F1 drivers. I am the proud owner of a Signet-Q. Attention to detail and superb fit and finish throughout. Thank you Arai family for your commitment to safety and quality.
The RX-Q has a more round to round oval fit. If your head is more narrow, it could be that the internal fitting shape is not a good match, even if the measurements are spot on. I suggest giving our Gear Geeks a call to help walk you through the Arai line-up and which helmet might be the best fit. Also keep in mind that the interior will break in about 5% with some use. A new helmet should fit snug. ~Ali
Whoot! Thank you for the great feedback. ~Ali
Small and Medium are unique sizes. Arai is a premium offering and most of their helmets also include up to 5 unique shell sizes. In nearly all Arai's, the size Small will use a small shell sizes and the size Medium will use a Medium shell size. To confirm, the size Medium is larger than the size Small. ~Ali
The Arai XD4 has some nice upgrades over the XD3. I have the XD3 and love it, but the XD4 has eyebrow vents, the facial contour cheekpads, and the 5mm peel away tabs for a more customized fit. ~Ali
The Vector 2 does feature the new customization 5mm peel away pads at the cheeks and the temple. Also keep in mind there will be some break in once you spend some time in the helmet. The Vector 2 shape is fairly neutral within the Arai family. If you can't find an Arai that fits well, check out the Shoei RF-1100. ~Ali
RevZilla will not be a vendor at the IMS circuit in 2013. If you fit a Profile helmet, I would suggest looking at the Signet Q that also has a long oval fitting shape. ~Ali
I've got a vector-2 and it's the most comfortable helmet I've ever owned. Good video, thanks for the review.
Nice. I have the original XD helmet too. I've since turned mine into a halloween prop and covered it in bondo. I am now rocking the XD3, which is even nicer. Maybe next year, I'll upgrade to the XD4. ~Ali
Can we get an updated one of these bad boys?
AGV would argue against you on that one, but my personal opinion is yes. Arai and Shoei compare very well to one another. -CK
Something about arai's neck roll.
It just caresses your head. I love it.
I have likely the roundest head on the planet and Arai RX-Q is such a great fit. I am thrilled to know that they are some of the best protective helmets out there.
I suggest giving our Gear Geeks a call so you can discuss in more detail how the helmet fits. Unfortunately, this comment format is a bit too limited to troubleshoot effectively. If you purchased the helmet and cheekpads from RevZilla, you would be able to return everything as long as all items are in new (no test-rides) condition and you save all packaging. ~Ali
I've owned a Signet-Q for about a year. While the helmet is well executed and the quality of components are top tier there are a few things that don't live up to my expectations. The first is the hot spots that are created on my ear due to the Sena 20 speakers I have installed and second is that the lens still fogs with the pin-lock shield installed and finally it's not very quite. I do love the fact that you can buy optional mirrored shields (but they don't have pin-lock posts) and that the face shields come with venting. Overall I love the helmet and the top level protection it provides but I will definitely look for my next helmet which corrects some of these issues.
In the US, we carry the Arai Corsair V. ~Ali
Not build to a price point, but to a spec. I'm sold. And I'm buying my first road bike (R3) I spent 7 years working in a Level 1 trauma center. You do not want to cheap out on gear. I'm getting full suit w/ body armor, Moto specific boots and gloves. Yeah, you gotta factor in and addition $1500 to $2K to ride safe.
BTW: thanks for the vid, I was trying to figure out the difference is all the models of Arai.
You're welcome! I also love my Arais. -DrewZilla
*bit.ly/Arai_Helmets
Love Arai. I have the red one. Same model. Vector 2. Love it. My second Arai. Nice video.
is there a newer version of this video with current models?
Arai, the best, hands down.
Peter knows the answer of life, universe , and everything
Why have you not done an updated version of this considering most of these are now replaced with newer models.
Interesting, where did you get that from? I knew that Arai was a name, but Arai pronounces their own name as we do in the US, but perhaps some say it differently in Japan. -CK
Arai nr5 was my first helmet, I sat perfect and all. I never realised that Arai was a good brand either, for me it was 'just a helmet'. I was a newbie and had no insight in anything.
So I thought all other helmets where as good. Because I had at that point never tried a bad helmet. But o'boy how unaware I was that Arai put the bar HIGH.
Only when Ive sold it and got a new Nolan helmet, I realised what mistake Ive done. The perfect fit was gone. And many many helmets later, I still miss the fit of my Arai nr 5... :-(
Its time to get an Arai again, and this time, Arai will stay.
5:05 Are EMT's informed about the quick release cheek pad system? I mean it's great to have such a safety design, but if peeps are unaware that it's there, it won't get implemented... ☹
Ducati Dude I know this is a little late, but I’m an EMT/firefighter and also a new rider. In my emt academy we are taught the proper time as well as the proper method of removing helmets. But never once were we told about the construction or padding in a helmet. Had I not gotten into motorcycles I would never have known of the emergency releases. Being that I didn’t know what they were, even though they say emergency on them. I wouldn’t use them. Just because it says emergency on it, if we’re not trained or informed, we’re going to treat the helmet just like any other. I imagine that this design is intended more for track day emergencies where there’s personnel who are more highly trained and more familiar in removing bike gear. As far as it stands on the street, your gear is getting cut off of you with shears and your helmet is getting removed just like any other.
I teach at an EMT program and when I teach helmet removal I do mention removable cheek pads. However, i ride so I know about them. My guess is the average EMT will not be familiar with them. In addition, all of our practice helmets were given to us and do not have that system. If it makes you feel any better, removing the cheek pads makes it a little easier but the difficult part of removing a helmet is clearing your nose with the chin bar.
It's like I always say....If you think you have a $100 head, buy a $100 helmet. But if you value your head at more than that, get superior protection. For me, that is Arai. Period end.
Got it, thanks! I suppose Arai changes their pronunciation for the US market then. -CK
@RevZilla, can you make an update of this video for 2019? Thanks.
We don't have a single overview for all Arai helmets, but we have individual videos for most current models. -DrewZilla

I would like to buy a full face solid color Arai helmet (assuming I can find one that fits me) but because of the price, there is no way I'm going to order one online, without trying it on. I figure there is a very small chance it will fit properly. As expensive as these helmets are, I would think Arai would have certain stores that at least have a way of determining the proper size and shape of a specific helmet, but that does not seem to be the case. I can't believe anyone is going to order a $1000 helmet online without first making sure it fits properly. Yet it seems there is no other alternative. A company that builds expensive premium helmets, should also have premium service for their customers.
In Rev's opinion.. of the full face. Which one is the most quiet for wind noise of the Vector 2, Signet-Q or Rx-Q?
Hi. How big are your heads guys for L size Arai?
I'm almost 59cm and wear L in HJC RPHA10.
Thanks in advance.
gr8 video! helped me out a lot... now i just need to find out what shape my head is.
My head is more into round to oval, kind of big too considering I'm 5,4.. I do fall in love with this helmet though, would it help if i change the liner to 7mm or 5mm and 25mm cheek pads? I'm afraid by the time I tried everything, i can't return this helmet..
Thanks a lot ali..

Great reviews guys as always. I want to invest in a top quality sports helmet but I am 5ft 4 inches tall and nearly every helmet looks too big for my body. Is there a helmet that you would recommend (preferably out of the arai brand) that has a smallest she'll size and won't look too big for my body
Jim Jones Sure, but it really depends on your head circumference, so that we can determine the smallest option. Wrap a cloth tape measure around the crown of your head, and let us know what you get. -DrewZilla
My head circumference is 22 inches and I am typically a small in most helmets. I don't mind if it's not arai, just want which ever helmet looks the smallest on my head.
Jim Jones I'd recommend a Shoei RF-1200 in small or most any Arai in size small. Those will provide the smallest shells for your head size. -DrewZilla

I just got my rx-Q and was wondering why is it too snug? my head is 58cm and I bought medium size rx-Q.. I tried to take off the cheek pads and my head feels a little better but still kind of too snug.. is it because of arai design feels too snug or is faulty in sizing (me)?..
Is Arai considered the too brand? Saw some agv's in person and was not impressed over my 5 year old rf1000
Thanks man , your reviews are the best by far , I decide to get the arai rx7 gp or crossair v even that im a beginer rider
I had an old Vector but crashed with it. The Vector was the best fit i have ever had in my life, but trying on the new vector 2 I get pressure points with the new liner. Could that be because of the removable foam in the headliner?
I was planning to get a Signet-X but after watching this video I think I'll go for a Corsair instead. They just more awesome
The Corsair-X is indeed awesome. -DrewZilla
Last night I bought a Schubert C4 Helmet. The sale price was too good to pass up. Thanks for the discount.
Also a great choice!
kind of hard to put on and off with cheek pads, not sure if I guessed my head shape correctly..or is it?
*top. Is arai much better quality than agv?
So I was wondering. Is the small size helmet and the medium size helmet the same size. Or one is bigger then the other.
I got an Arai and the shell fits great (can't fit a finger between brow and helmet) but it can twist while on my head. If I shake my head vigorously with the strap on, the helmets also moves from side to side. Would thicker pads help solve this problem? I know it's not supposed to twist on your head at all which concerns me but when I first got it it fit better than it does now.
Yes, a thicker head liner and perhaps thicker cheek pads might help the fit. -DrewZilla

Source for the stat that half of all people wear wrong size helmet, please? Thanks!
Which arai should i look at if a shoei rf1100 head shape fits me perfectly?
It's time to replace my old Arai Quantom f , what style from the current Arai lineup would most closely match the excellent fit I had from my Quantom?
Thanks!
Wulfen64 The RX-Q and Defiant are closest in fit to the older Quantum f. -DrewZilla

what head shape is the arai rebel helmet ?
Just bought the Signet X. Wow. Like buttah.
Showed frig all on sizing :P
Im looking for a review on arai rx7 gp on your channel and I cant find , is the rx7 gp only for europe? I would really like to hear your opinion anthony , im a new rider cbr600f , thanks
Love Arai Tour Cross 3 or XD4
I recently tried a rx q small and the helmet fit perfectly around the crown without any pressure points and no fingers in the brow but the temples had finger space. I don't know if they had the temple pads in it. I have looked from a picture from the top of my head and I do believe my forehead is much narrow then the rest of head. The helmet moved with my skin but was able to go up and down if I tried. It wasn't so tight on my cheek so that might be a problem there but I'm worried about the open space around the temples. I am a measured 57cm Please help me. I'm really digging Arai
You should probably be ok with a small RX-Q even with a bit of space at the temples. -DrewZilla
Its been a while since I've sized a Arai, and i'm at 23" (58.42cm or so) just like Peter. Im of the North American Haole variety and was curious what size Peter might wear, Medium or Large? (or just send me to the closest Arai shop in N. Calif)?
Gregor Miller At 23", I'd recommend medium for Arai Helmets in general. -DrewZilla
RevZilla Ok, thanks much. I've sportin' open face lids, like Bell since the mid-70's moto riding. I'm looking at the hypermotard SP, and want the approiate helmet, like the Arai you showcase. Thank-you for all the informative vids. I appreciate your knowledge of your products and attention to detail. I will continue to use RevZilla.
I currently wear an Icon Variant in the size L. Would I need to re-measure again for the Arai helmet?
Yes, I would recommend measuring your head again, as a centimeter measurement is more accurate than just comparing the size. -DrewZilla
RevZilla thanks for the help :)
Bought RX-7V in May 2017. Paint already with problems. A small stone in the highway made a little hole in the helmet. Terrible...
Get well soon nicky
Is there any Arai helmet which is eyeglasses ready?
All Arai helmets are designed to accommodate eyeglasses, so you can choose any of them. I wear glasses, and for me, Arai is the best for glasses. -DrewZilla

where did I get it from? from knowing how to speak Japanese. and I definitely know how they'd pronounce in Japanese.
While watching this I put on my arai
Allie’s fishing 123 😂
Is arai quantum j and arai rx-q the same helmet?
No, they are slightly different helmets. The Rear vents are different, and the internal shapes are different. -DrewZilla
Thanks so much👍
My dad named me after these helmets!
I've had helmets that were just as comfortable if not more comfortable then these and they weren't 800 dollars. No way I could justify spending upwards of 1000 bucks on a helmet
...oh and RevZilla's site is excellent with amazing prices and deals. You'd have to be braindead not to do your shopping with these guys.
What happened to the editing around 0:36? lol
Uhh, that's just a glitch in the Matrix. Don't worry about it. Everything is fine. -Kraus-e
They should have gave yammie noob a shoutout 😂😂
I mean corsair v , crossair lol , im a noob
One of the nuances that drives me mad with helmet manufacturers.... why re name an exact model helmet for different markets across the world..... insanity.
It's due to the different safety standards. The US models are Snell/DOT, while the European models are Snell/ECE. Then there are the Japanese market models too. They just want to better differentiate the standards. -DrewZilla
nonsense.
wtf is this 0:34
"a-la-i", not "a-rai"... learn how to say the name correct. and that's Mr. "A-la-i", it's a Japanese name
