    It is not often that a true juggernaut is brought to the forefront and allowed to showcase a plethora of features such as the Arai Corsair X. Positioned as one of the most premium racing helmets on the planet, the Corsair X is looking to set a new standard in the motorcycle racing world with regard to overall protection, functionality, and pure aesthetics. From sidepods that have been lowered by 24mm over the previous iteration, to improved aerodynamics, extended air vents, and an improved face shield mechanism that allows for extreme ease of operation, the Corsair X is putting the bar higher than it has ever been before for Arai.

    The reason Arai doesn't make grooves is indeed safety. They feel like cutting into the EPS compromises safety. That is also the reason Arai doesn't have integrated sun visors and still has the shield change mechanism on the outside rather than the inside.

      @Jay_Murs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrGarnettmiller I know for sure they cut down on vents and stick with a simplistic design for safety. In a crash, a side vent or an edge might get caught on the ground during a slide and torque your neck. The vents on top probably are not too much of a concern, most likely no one will be sliding on that part haha.

    Anthony is this the helmet you ride in day to day? You get to review every single thing that comes into your shop, so what you actually ride in speaks volumes. I wonder if you might look into doing a revzilla picks, not just what consumer's are buying most or is most highly acclaimed, but what you guys ride in. A single video for each of you guys, where you break down what gloves, jackets, pants, helmets, boots, etc. etc. you guys ride in. Obviously what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another, but it would be a damn good place to start. Cheers.

    So I've had my Arai for 2 years now and it's been phenomenal. Best fit of any lid I've worn, no complaints other than some idiosyncrasies with the shield change and locking/opening mechanism. After about a year I noticed scuffing on the brow area of the helmet right above the shield. Apparently it rubs up against that section occasionally when opening. Not a big deal, but mars the aesthetics a bit and something I didn't expect from a top shelf premium helmet like this. It's the only helmet I've owned that ever had this quirk.

    They're not roman numbers, so its not 5 or 10. That is a "V" for the added vents to the RX models, and an "X" for the more narrow shape of the vents on the helmet.

    This is a excellent review on the Corsair X. I have the Japanese version (RX-7X Pedrosa). It is slightly quieter than the Corsir V (Japanese RX-7 RR5). Still trying to get use to the new visor release latch. I love the improvement of the side pod release mechanism and visor change - very simple and quick. Definitely an improvement over the Corsair V (RX-7 RR5). Weight gain of the RX-7X didn't make any difference when riding compared to the RX-7 RR5.

    I just picked one of these up and I love it. It is so much quieter than my old Arai Corsair! The one issue I had with it, is that I found that it fogs up a lot more than my old Corsair. So I switched out the nose guard for the old one... problem solved! I also think the old nose guard looks cooler too, as it is a bit higher and more pointy. Bonus!

And I just realize is snell 2020D, not even R that meet ECE2206 Criteria (soso). Unfortunately I had to order it online as I am nowhere near a showroom, to Identify these things. Not sure if its worth he buck.

    How does it compare to the Shoei GT-Air helmet? I've been riding in it for over a year so I don't really remember the specs, how do they compare in head shape, weight, noise level? I know they're different styles as this is more of a race helmet while mine is more towards touring and commuting, but I'd like to check out Arai next and it seems like they made this more street friendly than the 5 was yet still a track helmet.
    Not to mention that I am now attracted to Arai's style, I wasn't before as I thought they were too round and old looking, love the look now!
    Another thing, the face shield looks a bit small top to bottom, a race helmet should have more view in the tuck, is it because the chin side has less view that it seems that way?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Death666wish The head shapes for the GT-Air and Corsair-x helmets are both intermediate oval. If anything, the Arai has just a bit more room in the temples. For noise, the GT-Air is generally quieter. For weight, I weighed both in size medium, and they were both exactly the same at 3 lbs. 9.4 oz. As for the shield, it only appears shorter, because the chin bar is so compact and closer to the the face. From your eye position, there is plenty of vision up and down. -DrewZilla

  • @olderwiser2080
    @olderwiser2080 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Since there's no mention of change, the fit is the same as the Corsair V? Arais' int. oval is too round-short for me front to back, and leaves a nasty hot spot on my forehead. The Shoei int. oval fits me perfectly. The 2 Corsair Vs I own are both shelved due to fit and autographs by the now retired Texas Tornado...can't really clean the outside and preserve the sigs.

    My biggest concern is if the field of vision at the brow area is narrower that the V? When in a full tuck many helmets obstruct your forward view, the Corasir V was one of the few that didn't. It looks like the new X may have less vertical field of vision.

The neck roll arms into the chin spoiler, the cheek pad shape for install etc. So I'm thinking I can order the new Corsair -X chin curtain right???? :) I'm sure I'm not the only RX-Q, Signet, etc customer who would love a chin curtain!! Lemme know please, thanks

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an RX-Q as well, and I tested your theory. It sort of works but isn't ideal. The RX-Q's drop-down chin spoiler sits flush against the shell/chin rubber gasket when retracted, whereas on the Corsair X, there's a clear gap between the chin spoiler and the shell/chin rubber gasket where the chin curtain sits. If you were to always leave the RX-Q's chin spoiler in the lowered/exposed position, you could shove the Corsair X chin curtain in that gap. However, you wouldn't be able to retract the chin spoiler with the chin curtain installed. If that's ok for you, then go for it. Currently, though, we do not have Corsair X chin curtains available separately. -DrewZilla

    Hi Team, I hope you guys can give me a solid suggestion. I just bought a Corsair X in size XS. I am exactly a size 56.2 cm and wear a size small in Shoei. The shop owner suggested to go down size to XS which I believe as per the Arai website is for head size upto 54cm. I've been wearing the helmet in my house and apparently all the hotspots are gone now (were there initially). 2 observations though 1: The chin curtain plastic rubs on my forehead and has caused a rash (I know I can remove it). 2: My nose touches the breath guard when looking upwards . In your experience, what should I do. A reply would be highly appreciated Cheers!

      @RevZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The size small shell is slightly larger than the XS shell, so that would give you a bit more room. If you found the size small to be a bit loose, you could always get a thicker head liner and cheek pads. If you keep the XS, you'll probably want to trim the breath guard. Either choice is valid, but I'd consider the size small. -DrewZilla

      In the Corsair X, XS and Small have different shells. The 5-shell breakdown is XS, S, M-L, XL, and 2XL. So if you like the snug fit of the XS and the shell doesn't feel too small, then I would try to find one. However, if you don't mind the slightly larger shell used in the size small, you can make the size small have a tighter fit by buying the optional thicker inner liner and cheek pads. The stock head liner is liner code II in 7mm thickness. You can go to II/10mm for a tighter fit around the crown and 30mm or even 35mm cheek pads. As for XS availability, we don't expect more until mid-October. -DrewZilla

      @RevZilla  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tunnel Man The helmet shown is plain gloss white. Arai's diamond white has metallic flecks in the paint, so it sparkles a bit in the sun. So far, the Corsair X is not offered in diamond white. -DrewZilla

    The Shoei RF-1200 killed my temples, after wearing them for about 10 minutes and it is intermediate oval. This helmet is also intermediate oval. I wear an Icon Airframe and it fits me well. Would this helmet's adjustment system be able to adjust to my size? Thanks.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Duane Quan Yes, the Corsair X is just a bit wider in the temples compared to the RF-1200, and if you need even more space, you can remove 5mm of foam from the temples. -DrewZilla

    What is this helmet called in Europe? Do you guys ship to Germany?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Europe, it's the ECE-rated RX-7V. Also, yes, we do ship to Germany, but the Corsair X is DOT and Snell-rated. It is not ECE-rated like the RX-7V. Shipping cost depends on size, weight, and value. Some brands may not be shipped to certain destinations due to manufacturer restrictions. If you have selected an item that cannot be shipped internationally, we will inform you in the checkout process on our site. Please see our International Orders Page (rvz.la/intl-order) for more details. -DrewZilla

    Im using Arai Corsair V saiz S(55-56cm) but my head is 57cm. Is it normal that my lips close to the air intake that i can breath using it?
    Sorry for my bad english, pls do respond

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally, someone with a 57cm head would wear size medium (M), which has a larger shell. In size medium, your lips wouldn't be so close to the air intake. In size small (S), though, I'm not surprised that the air intake is very close. If you want more room in front of your mouth, I recommend size medium (M) for the future. -DrewZilla

    How does this compare in terms of external size with the Shoei X-14? This seems smaller, less of that bobble-head look...

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems smaller, because it's a bit rounder on the outer shell. The chin bar sits a little closer to the mouth, and the shell isn't elongated in the rear to make a spoiler. The Arai's rear spoiler is more compact and part of the external vent channel housing. So in that case, yes, it has a little less of a bobble head appearance. -DrewZilla

    Wait so it goes from V or 5 to X or 10... so is it really the tenth version or is it really the 6th or what

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neither. Technically the Corsair V should just be called the Corsair "Vee" as in the letter V, not the Corsair Five. It's not actually supposed to be a Roman numeral. Everyone, even many here, just called it the Corsair Five. The Corsair-X also does not represent the Roman numeral for 10. It's just Corsair "Ex" as in the letter X. -DrewZilla

    So can this helmet be tailored to fit any head shape?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not totally. It still has an intermediate oval fit, but you can give it a slightly rounder/wider fit by removing a foam layer from the sides of the head liner. For those that need a truly long oval fit, we recommend the Signet-X. -DrewZilla

    Eh to call this the best helmet is kind of iffy.
    The only thing that makes a helmet the best to someone should be fit. Arai helmets do not fit my head properly, so I personally will never wear them as long as their shape does not fit my head. Their quality is obviously no question, but calling any one brand "the best" should not exist really.

    • @moralrevulsionLive
      @moralrevulsionLive 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arai helmets are proven to be the best after the crash. But yeah im with you on the fitment. But then again in european market old rx7s didnt write the size at the back and many with small 55 56 got medium for small. So yeah it depends. The rx7v though fits nowdays most heads.

    is it the exact same helmet with the rx7x rr5?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Helmets can be constructed differently depending on their intended market, so they are not exactly the same in most cases. For example, helmets for the US market are at least DOT certified and the European market ECE. Sometimes helmets for the Asian market (like the RR5) have slightly rounder head shapes than their western counterparts. As such, While the Corsair X we sell looks nearly identical to the RR5, we couldn't confirm it is exactly the same. -TeamZilla AJ

    Why's the rubber nose guard so ridiculously small?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The compact chin bar means there isn't a lot of space in front of your nose and mouth, so a larger nose guard would tend to interfere with the nose too much. -DrewZilla

    • @lemonjellies4985
      @lemonjellies4985 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you mean but it's surprising seeing other helmets (HJC, SHARK, SHOEI) include a nose guard that actually serves its purpose. The Arai one hardly even covers the nostrils.
