@@dennishallada890 No it's even better, Venice being a former barbarian tribe means that Venice actually has cultural ties with city states (which are all implied to have been barbarian tribes). Instead of the massive amount of vote buying that the other Civs think their seeing, it's actually Venice laundering money from the barbarians all while encouraging the other Civs to try and outbid them to double up on the payout. Venice actually being the public face of the Collective Barbarian Hoard is perfect.

Ah, yes, gotta love the barbarian battleships. Because it makes so much sense for random tribes of barbarians to have enormous dry docks and enough steel to build a 70,000 ton battleship with 16" guns. It is kind of hilarious watching barbarian battleships terrorize the AI civs, though. I usually just have my own battleships stay back and watch. - haha - It makes almost as much sense as learning Nuclear Fusion from an Arctic tundra tribal village.
It's time to play, what part of this sketch *isn't* CGI! It was a tough one this time, but I think I can say with complete confidence that the tank, the battleship and the giant death robot are the only non-CGI parts of this video.
For real tho i like the image that the barbarians are so successful cause they're all just working together.. more efficiently than the so called "civilized" people.

I always loved playing fractal civ 4 and finding an island off in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of barbarian cities protected by modern armor and attack helicopters.
I like to think ghostfish was Venice all along. After Venice got destroyed in previous videos, he moved to EU2, fled back to Civ, made a barbarian tribe and eventually rebuilt his city. Timeline’s probably a bit rough (been a while since I watched every civ video). But Venice is immortal so it’s not impossible.

I’d like to believe there wasn’t a death robot in the scene and it was still a tank, but since Enrico hasn’t seen past 2 scouts and 3 archers, anything that moves on it’s own (as far as he can tell) is a giant death robot.
It just goes to show, all Civ's start as barbarians, whether you succeed is all about ambition in the end! Also makes perfect sense that Venice were barb's.
that's actually the first stage of Humankind: you're just a nomadic tribe until you accumulate enough science, get big enough, or hunt enough megafauna. If someone else advances before you, you can be the barbarians raiding them. And if you get wiped out at that stage you just respawn because you can't lose until you become civilized.
There's always that 1 barb that's smarter than the other's. Next thing they know. All their friends die around them as they learn they're immortal and running an empire against other immortal beings
Fun fact: Kyle actually had to digitally add all the beards in this video in post because the cast had to be clean shaven for Zach Snyder’s The Guards Themselves

Civ 4 shipped out with a scenario that you could play as the barbs ... Pretty much just would be safe not to say "I wish civ let me do X" if you haven't seen all the games in this monstrous series. Even if the base game didn't allow it, you can bet a dozen or more mods for at least half of the civ games out there have been created to let you do just that.
You know, I was gunna say something clever about how Ethan is no longer the only barbarian, but then noticing the clan that "let all that gold get to their head" became Venice, I just died. well, atleast now we know what kinda city state they became I guess. 🤣

Although with advanced weaponry like that Ghostfish tribe did themselves no favor by aiming to be a City State instead of something of actual importance. I was worried that this channel was going under for a while because you guys mostly stopped posting (or slowed down posting sketches) but the channel seems a lot healthier now. I’m a fan of a lot of the media you make your sketches after; Skyrim, Pokémon, Phasmophobia, Stardew Valley, and others. Never played Civ, but somehow the sketches are funnier when I have literally no context
One I would like to see is the life of an envoy. You show up at a city-state as an ambassador, and they somehow cause your capital city to have a small bonus? How does that work? What value does your being there give the city-state in exchange? Does it get awkward when envoys from other civilizations show up? What happens when enough rival envoys show up to make that civilization the the suzerain? Somehow your being there still gets your civilization some bonus, but I imagine that it would still seem awkward. What happens when the suzerain declares war on your civilization? Somehow no one has a problem with you still being there?
Having recently gotten civ VI I must say these just continue to become more and more enjoyable to watch. My friends have explained multiple differences between civ V and civ VI so I get all the jokes.
Great sketch. I didn't care for it at first but Barbarian Clan mode is pretty great. I love setting up a map with 2/3 fewer city-states and watching them evolve over the course of the game and unlike regular city-states they don't take the best real estate since barb camps tend to spawn in far off corners.
I like the enter a game of Civ like this. Post apocalypse. These people are emerging from bunkers, where all the records were somehow wiped out from the old world and bunker society collapsed, regressing us to club wielding savages once more, where our children were taught little to nothing but basic survival skills. Thus, human history restarts. But there's still some... things, around. Especially from those who never went into the bunkers.
Well when you have 4 giant men with muscles to rival bears and the endurance to move a mountain internal combustion engines are generally less appealing on the power to weight ratio side of things.
They should do one about the AI reacting to the Spiffing Brit’s nonsens. “He founded how many pantheons in one turn?” “Forget the pantheons, he just researched nukes!” “Hey guy, I just found tea!” “Sid Meier help you….”
I remember once scouting the world in Civ V and finding an undiscovered plot of land. On the barbarian camp it had modern infantry and I believe the 2 other tiles of island also had more modern infantry. Let's say I've left them as an uncontacted tribe.
I cannot describe what the difference between this and previous episodes were. But this has the old school energy from the young door monster I love. Absolutely wonderful episode.

In my experience, the main difference when using the barbarian clan mode is that there are way more city states in the Arctic.

I remember once scouting the world in Civ V and finding an undiscovered plot of land.
On the barbarian camp it had modern infantry and I believe the 2 other tiles of island also had more modern infantry.
Let's say I've left them as an uncontacted tribe.

I cannot describe what the difference between this and previous episodes were. But this has the old school energy from the young door monster I love. Absolutely wonderful episode.
Barbarian having Mechanized Units is crazy in late game, they need like a special partisan unit instead.
Now this is a loosley organized culture i can get behind.
