According to Damon the album's "plot" (if this was experienced as a film) ends with Cloud of Unknowing, while Pirate Jet is the song that plays in the credits. They wanted to avoid being preachy so they made the last song kind of sarcastic and cheeky on how the plastic will remain for a hundred years and we, the plastic eating people will be there, still consuming it, so the album it's not so much a "let's save the planet or we will be doomed!!", it's more a way to show the state of the world, our plastic beach, part organic, part artificial, the message is "hey, this is the reality we're in now, how absurd is that?". There's a whole documentary on the making of Plastic Beach which is very interesting.
I think you would both really enjoy Chappell Roan's new album - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. SO many different influences it's really amazing!!!
I enjoyed both reactions to the Gorilaz, just as a huge blue fan I find it fascinating that you mention Damon as if this was his first project but that only proves how relevant he stayed amongst the youth
42:57 when he said 'i like this part in a song when i never know how to tap my foot yet' it reminded me of By the Time I Get to Phoenix. you should do that too sometime.
Humanz is an extremely underrated album by them and their comeback after 7 years. Really would love to see a reaction to it, as their are barely any new reactions to that album. Extremely underappreciated, has some absolute bops on it. Also Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez is arguably their best album since plastic beach. Easily the best modern Gorillaz album.
Okay, so the comment about Lou Reed is kind of how I feel about this album as a whole. Empire ants stands out in contrast and because of that rise far above the rest. I don't dislike Plastic Beach. Hell, for a time I loved it. But it's one of the albums that's depreciated for me. Demon Days, D-Sides, and hell, even Humanz with its introverted cry for help stand out to me more. All it needed was for Out of Body to not be a bonus track because it's by far the most "Gorillaz" track. ANYWAY If you liked Demon Days, the first album by The Good, The Bad, and The Queen is a must. It has a lot of the team from Demon Days which makes it hard to separate from that era. I'm also going to hiiiiiiighly recommend Gruff Rhys and his catalogue. Babelsburg/American Interior are EXCELLENT, and his work with Super Furry Animals is damn good. Also I mentioned it in the discord, but ya gotta check out Moses Sumney. Listen to the Tiny Desk Concert without your dad and you'll get it, then you can introduce him to it.

It’s beautiful, evokes so much images. The accompanying video was beautiful as well.
Idk what is it but the theres something about Some Kinda Of Nature, the beat along with the aged vocals of Loud Reed makes me just make me so happy.
