    Blur took britpop and made it weird. They have some really fun music. I wouldn't really compare them to oasis. They were always a little more interesting. Also, Little Dragon is amazing. Everything Yukimi touches is golden. I never really got into this album, but I always loved the two songs she collabed on.

    Really enjoy Plastic Beach, brilliantly put together. Great album to check your reaction to, Sam. Always good fun. Saw some live chat nominations for Blur's 13 and TV On The Radio's Dear Science and I would endorse those as good choices for a communal listening experience.

    I loved this video! Plastic Beach is a grower I go back to all the time. Subscribed! I think you would really love the LP Ultra Mono by IDLES. It's one of my favorite punk rock records, and my favorite record of 2020. I noticed you were selling it on your store and was thinking of buying it off there... 🤔 Anyways thank you for this reaction, really brightened up my bad day

    Saw you do Song Machine the other night and came back to this. Glad you're enjoying them - they are one of my all-time favourite artists/groups/art collaborations whatever label you can apply to them. If you're looking for another, go for their debut self-titled.

    Super Furry Animals was doing this type of genre bending and incorporating electronic music with rock in the 90’s. Probably the most underrated and in my opinion the best band out of the 90’s UK rock explosion.
    The albums Radiator and Guerilla are amazing.

    Finally my favourite band of all time! :) I can't count how many times I listened to this album after release playing NFS Porsche 2000. Funny thing with Damon Albarn is no matter how many times I listen to something he created, I always find something new I never discovered before. This time orchestral part of Sweepstakes took my attention and after all these years it was really appreciated by myself.
    Great listen as always Sam, keep it up carrying music light among us.

      @@VinylJunkies666 I thank you for nice receive, I'm very glad you liked this album. My highlight of this video was your reaction to Empire Ants half drop, which is my top 3 of their songs. Sweet! If you ever want to try something Blur created (which was your question about Damon during livestream), try 13 or Think Tank. I that period of time they had typical britpop period behind and turned into more amazing experimental tunes, which is main difference between Blur and Oasis. Thanks again Old Man!

    Blur was similar to Oasis in the early-mid 90s but in the later 90s they really transformed their sound. I’m 100% sure you would enjoy Blur’s self titled and 13, as they are a lot more electronic rock-sounding.

    Hi Sam! JacksAxe here! Was listening to your broadcast while driving up to work, and just finished the rest. Love Plastic Bag, and looking forward to the next Gorillaz record you got (whenever it comes in).
    A question: If I have a record to recommend, do I name the record and artist, and tip you the cost of the record? Or do you go out and buy records that multiple people you trust recommend you listen to, and the people have to fund it afterward for you to listen to it? Not sure what the process for this is, if there is one.
    Anyways, I'm like a broken record myself for constantly saying this, but listening to all different kinds of musical experiences is a huge reason why I love your channel! It's all about the art, and there's a beauty to being exposed and experiencing all kinds of different art. And... well, of course, it's also all about the community, with you and everyone else, to listen and experience those same things together. :)

  • @mabeylane7163
    @mabeylane7163 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with the rant at 1:00:20 when it comes to assigning pointless scores to albums but I think most people have a favorite album by an artist. Demon Days and Plastic Beach both stand on their own as great albums but I personally prefer Demon Days as a whole (even though plastic beach has my two favorite Gorillaz songs, Empire Ants and On Melancholy Hill.) Assigning scores to albums can be a bad thing, especially with how toxic the music community on the internet tends to get but if you're talking about your opinion, I don't see the problem.

  • @qwerty30013

    52:33 they’re both “90s Brit pop” bands, but what makes them different is blurs willingness to experiment. Oasis has a very 90s rock sound whereas blur is more alternative I think. Beginning to end blur has a very noticeable progression, while most oasis songs sound the same? Just an opinion.

    • @n0body550

    I was an good album at best. Artistically it didn't come close to Demon Days. I mean, Demon Days did something fresh and new. It created a world, a story and a mythos. Plastic Beach just talked about what it would be like living in a pile of garbage on the beach. Lame premise. It had a couple good tunes but most were mediocre compared to Demon Days. Not saying it was bad, because it was actually pretty good, just not the best Gorillaz had to offer.
