Dear Brother Mike would you please do the same with the Enoch gnostic teaching about fallen angels mating with women in Genesis 6? This is a huge deception and people claim that the Bible clearly says this doctrine and that you don't need to read the book of Enoch, to have this view.
Also, the "serpent seed" doctrine, which is just another side of the same coin.
I can't wait for you to expose this doctrine of demons because you do such a faithful job!

@@michellejohnsen912 It all depends on how you interpret who the “sons of God” are.
The sons of God and daughters of humans (NIV) created the Nephilim, who were seemingly giants as described in Numbers 13:33, or at least a larger species of human.
I think it’s reasonable that the sons of God could be the fallen angels who were mentioned in Jude 1:6.

@@Marlaina Matthew 22:30 Jesus says angels don't marry. I can't harmonize the idea of angels mating with humans with this clear Bible verse. I know angels can look like men when they come to earth. In the story of Lot etc.
I don't think the verses sighted in support of angels mating with humans are clearly saying that. I think those verses are talking about fallen angels. Even Chuck Missler said he doesn't know how the Genesis 6 angels mated with women because they are eternal beings.

      Correct.
The Bible has been horribly translated by clerks of a certain denomination who had no clue about God's intend, just like Muhammed.
Still the red line is clearly visible. The original text is crystal clear:
1: God created us after His own image and likeness.
2: Man fell. That is what you see in this world: lust, greed, selfishness, strange philosophies, sicknesses, corruption, terrorism, death, etc, etc.
3: God, the spirit of life, manifests fully in Christ, pays the debt for mankinds fall so we can be indwelled again by His Spirit and be transformed back to origin.
Pure grace, love, power of God for His creation.
Hence the divine healing miracles and casting out of demons His first friend, i and many others experience up to this day!
When Jesus said: "It is finished", He did a perfect job. Nothing to be changed by people comming after Him.
Some examples of these idiotic translation errors.
Saved, from the Greek Sozo means made complete, brought back to origin.
Eternal life from the Greek Zoë means life of God, divine life.
Wrath from the Greek Orge means PASSION.
Wrath from the Greek Thumos also means PASSION.
Etc, etc, etc, look it up in the Kittel Theological Dictionary or in any Greek/Hebrew Strong's app. It's there.
So now we have ignorant preachers parotting the lie that we have to be saved from God's wrath by Jesus (who is God....) and "have to repent or go to hell".
In stead it is: God restores us through Christ by His own atoning blood sacrifice and indwelling Holy Spirit, from mankind's fall, to His own image and likeness (Christlikeness) because of... passion.
For God so loved the world....
God cannot be tempted to do evil....
There is no turning or shifting with Him....
If you don't love you don't know God, for God is love....
The goal of all instruction is... love
      The Father Himself loves you....
      Jesus healing all..... love
      Jesus raising the dead..... love
      Jesus casting out demons.... love
      Jesus controlling nature..... love
      Etc, etc ,etc ,etc.

I've only recently discovered Mike Winger; this is maybe the 4th video I've watched. He totally leaves me in awe. I grew up in the church but turned away for 20 years in my teens and twenties. The Spirit called me to read Scripture cover-to-cover (Gen. To Rev.) And I came to true saving faith in my mid 30s (1989]. Since then I have read the complete Biboe repeatedly more times than I can count along with numerous word and topic studies. I received an MA. In Theology in 1999. Recently I have been reviewing my Greek and doing my own personal study /word translation using an Interlinear Bible with a Greek Expository dictionary.
I have come across a number of preachers with fairly sound doctrine on most of the basics of the Gospel and Salvation but sooner or later I will come up against wrong teachings that reflect denominational or sectarian views that are not supportable by Scripture. Mike Winger is the ONLY preacher/teacher I have come across that is spot on about everything theological... even the minor things. I watched 9ne of his "20 Questions" videos where he covers some pretty controversial topics most denominational pastors get wrong. I was shocked to find myself 100% in agreement with him. That virtually NEVER happens. And there were a couple of questions he said he was unsure of and needed further study on... they just happened to be issues I also have nit been able to settle on. Really just amazes me because I am totally independent of denomination and follow my best understanding of Scripture based on my own study as well as specific research into the first century Jewish cultural context of the New Testament as well as the relationship between the aood and New Testaments.

I have only been born again for two and a half years, and am going through my Bible just the second time through this year but I must say I completely agree with your assessment of Mike's theology, understanding of doctrine, adherence to scripture as authority and letting the Bible speak for itself as much as humanly possible.
I too often find myself really grateful for a good preacher/teacher and then they'll throw something in or take something out and not just let the scriptures lead in that particular area (why is Calvinism so popular?!). I can still watch or learn from such brothers if their gospel is Christ and Christ crucified, Paul's gospel, and none other (Galatians 1:8), but it is incredibly refreshing to have found Winger's channel, as I also am in awe of how I have never had a serious, or hardly even minor, doctrinal disagreement with him. I was even joking today that I almost wished he'd say something I disagreed with just because it is an almost surreal experience to agree with someone so completely on these issues. I am very grateful for his sola scriptura ministry and I pray he is blessed and continues in wisdom and strength through the Holy Ghost in Jesus' name. Amen.

Again; my list is SO FAR. There may very well be others I'd fully trust as well & I just haven't checked them out yet.
I do believe I have enough to keep me occupied in between Sunday Local church, anyway
BTW: I discovered Pastor Winger a yr or 2 ago when Melissa Dougherty had him on her show as guest. Mike Winger & Melissa Dougherty are the ONLY two that keep my attention span...for HOURS at a time even. Partly bc of my ADHD. We, on that spectrum, have the attn span of a hummingbird on crack, UNLESS it's that EXTREMELY rare something or someone that can hold our attn- then we're WAY on the other extreme side of the pendulum. No gray areas for us AD(H)D ppl. 🤷‍♀️. But even other ppl who are NOT on the spectrum say the same thing
about Pastor Winger..(even a TEENY bit more-so than Melissa)..and That says ALOT considering that, unlike Mike, Melissa does skits..and they're HILLARIOUS, eye-opening, encouraging & EXTREMELY well done in EVERY aspect (her acting, editing...EVERYTHING!).
They are, SERIOUSLY, the best EVER skits ever known to man!...(including Napoleon Dynamite)
It's kinda like: you get dinner with both Mike & Melissa. Mike serves a more elaborate dinner than Melissa. But ya get the occasional after-dinner dessert from Melissa. 🤗
Sorry this is so long but Idw2 edit: takes top long (you'll forgive my ADHD slathered all over this...??... won't you? I choose to believe you will😊).

It's not even a paraphrase, it's a commentary trying to pass itself off as a paraphrase translation. If he had just followed the example of the Amplified Bible, and included his extras merely as parenthetical expressions and acknowledged they were not in the original Greek (or Aramaic), he wouldn't be receiving as much heat as he has been. He'd still be getting into trouble over bad theology embedded in his work, but that's a separate issue from Simmons' inserting his own creative writing and passing it off as Scripture.

I like how Dr Brad Bitner draws a connection to Simmons 'secret knowledge' claim and gnosticism. From my understanding Colossians was written by Paul in part in response to a Colossian heresy - which was mysticism/gnosticism. It's really made me think on how Colossians is so relevant, and may be a remedy to the distortions we are now seeing in the Charismatic churches.

Needless to say, my respect for her and my trust in her biblical understanding dropped dramatically

I’m honestly glad there are already a couple of comments here. The moment you said “she”, the problem became a no-brainer. It’s more likely than not the churches that become ensnared by the spirit of the feminine that devolve more rapidly into these heresies, and i’m speaking from experience. First church outside of the catholic church I was apart of for two years was run exclusively by women. The church I just left after nine years started including women in their messaging and quickly fell into all kinds of heretical traps of the “new age” and woke egalitarianism.

Regardless of the sex of the preacher, I would seriouslty consider walking out of a church that did this. I would give them a week to address the issue from the pulpit because it is possible that one of the preachers has sprung this out of the blue. However, it is equally possible that the pastoral staff is onboard with pushing this "translation". If it is the latter case, it tells me that the clergy of the church is not sufficiently educated in the historisity of the Bible and has no discernment. It would cause me great concern.

    • @bufficliff8978
      @bufficliff8978 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@drzpl7229 It's not a feminine spirit that causes problems, though I might have misunderstood you.
A church that welcomes female pastors as heads of a church have problems because they have to misunderstand or twist scripture in order to make it happen.
The reason we see theological problems or discernment problems in churches that don't restrict certain areas of leadership to men isn't because a feminine spirit is harmful; we notice discernment issues and doctrinal issues more often in these cases because doctrine and discernment were already lacking BEFORE a woman is offered such a position. Brothers, thank you. This research and presentation has brought me to tears. My heart aches to hear this. The blatant mutilation of scripture must break God’s heart. Seeing Christians fall for it makes me physically ill. His take on husbands and wives undid me. This problem of “truth,” is so prevalent in our society today - media, leaders are chronically distorting reality to make it say what they want say. Simmons has done this very thing with the scripture. He is a false teacher, an ear-tickler, a liar.

Simmons basically exposes himself as a false teacher at the 1:00:41point. He essentially admits that no translation supports his personal theology so instead of allowing scripture to inform his beliefs he has to create a new translation that reflects his new found beliefs. Like Charles Spurgeon once said, "There is nothing new in theology except that which is false".

Brian Simmons is correct ( ref. 1:01:27 ) we DO oppose his views regarding the unbiblical change that could occur within Christianity. However, it’s not because we fear it will be for the better - or that we don’t want our home church numbers to dwindle. Rather, instead - t’s because wisdom and discernment, clearly reveals that it will lead people astray - especially those who commit themselves to such ideals as those found within the Passion Translation (PT). Starting today, I will continually stay praying for those following the Uninspired (aka, not of GOD) PT. Mr. Winger, you’ve inspired me to grow as a young Minister, future firefighter and Spoken Word Artist. God has used this page as a catalyst towards growth. A comment Dr Bitner made suddenly clarified something in my mind that had been bubbling in the background. He said something along the lines of 'if we allow that Paul is the Apostle, inspired by the Holy Spirit, to write these things, not Brian Simmons' - right there is the problem: Brian thinks that he is being inspired by the Spirit - what he is writing is in actuality special revelation, fresh revelation and he IS adding to scripture and knows it, but in his mind it's OK because he believes he is doing it by the Spirit.
I'm genuinely shocked that any Christian Pastor wouldn't immediately have every alarm bell ring listening to him talk about his inspiration, his downloads, his visit to the great library...

The question of Jesus' primary language (and the language(s) in which he taught) is one of some interest, and it's far from completely settled. It's been pretty widely assumed that much if not all of his public teaching was in Aramaic. But he certainly spoke Greek; it was the _lingua franca_ in that part of the world at that time. He also read Greek, which we know because he quotes the Greek Old Testament (the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the OT). One place where he does this is in Matthew 21:16, where he's quoting Psalm 8:2--if you look at the psalm in most Bibles, you'll see, "Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established *strength*"; when Jesus quotes this psalm in Matthew 21:16, it is praise that is established--which is the reading of the LXX. So to say that Jesus didn't speak Greek, as Simmons does, is demonstrably false.

    • @suzannegriffiths4795
      @suzannegriffiths4795 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Who has assumed that Jesus public ministry was in Aramaic? Why?

    • @danbrown586
      @danbrown586 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@suzannegriffiths4795 Who believes that Jesus' public ministry was in Aramaic? Just about everybody, it appears. If I do a web search for "what language did Jesus preach", pretty much all of the first page (and onto the second page) of results say the same thing: while Jesus would have had at least some familiarity with Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic, at least the bulk of his public ministry would have been in Aramaic. Unfortunately, I don't see that any of those pages cite particular scholars for or against that conclusion, but it does seem to be held across a wide variety of sources, Christian (including an unsigned, but fairly detailed, treatment at Zondervan Academic) and secular (and at least one Muslim source as well). The biblical text doesn't really answer this for us--there are a handful of occasions when we're directly told Jesus used Aramaic (including on the cross), but beyond those we're not told (which may suggest the question isn't that important).
But, although this is widely held, it isn't universally held--some scholars hold instead that Jesus conducted at least some of his public ministry in Greek. Again, a web search (this time for "did Jesus teach in Greek") provides some material, and the first result is a 37-page paper by one Dr. Stanley Porter from 1993 arguing for this position; another scholar who appears to agree is one Dr. G. Scott Gleaves, whose book on the subject is available on Amazon for about $25 (or rather less if you want the e-book). Though in the same search, at least one critic of Porter turns up; a Dr. PM Casey addresses his piece in 1997, claiming that Porter "downplays or even omits important Aramaic evidence" (though Casey's entire article doesn't appear to be freely available as Porter's is).
So, insofar as Simmons' view is that Jesus primarily spoke, taught, and preached in Aramaic, his view is widely (though not universally) accepted. His claim that Jesus didn't speak Greek is much more contentious, and I believe Jesus' quote of the LXX renders it untenable. But it's his position that the NT was originally written in Aramaic (and, further, that there's a new academic consensus to that effect) that takes the cake--there's simply zero evidence to support such a position, and with respect to much of it (i.e., all of Paul's epistles), it simply wouldn't have made any sense at all.

This was the best one so far. Dr. Bitner’s comment about this drawing a veil over the text that obscures God’s word and can prevent people from knowing what God says and might even prevent them from being saved.
This, to me, was a very thoughtful comment and really represented the danger of this “translation” in addition to its ridiculous word choice.
Pastor Mike, thank you so much for hiring these scholars to comment upon and refute this. I’ve learned so much about how translations are made as well.

Gnostic is the best description of the passion version.

Thank you so much for this Passion Project ... what a tremendous eye-opener and help. I literally threw my copy of the TPT into the garbage after listening to all these episodes. God bless you, brother! Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹 😀 😊

I wonder how he changed Pauls witty sarcasm. Thats one of my favorite aspects of Pauls style.

Love language of God: "He suffered, died & rose again". For the forgiveness of our sins. What else do you NEED?

Great video and work by the scholars. They're probably the least animated out of all of the Passion Project videos, but still great stuff :P

I hurt so badly in my spirit hearing Brian Simmons say the things that came out of his mouth, especially the blasphemy that we are exactly the same as Jesus Christ.......🤢😔

The discussion at the beginning of the video sounds like the conversation that happens with our Mormon friends around the book of Mormon. Joseph Smith received another revelation from two heavenly personages and Joseph Smith translated this message from reformed Egyptian Hieroglyphics. A language only he had to communicate a new, more correct translation of gospel.

I deeply enjoy and am deeply grateful for expository teaching of scripture.
But, I also enjoy the work you do also.
May the Lord bless your ministry.
