Great Vid , you can only learn by whatching and think over what yourself will do on the sticks but in general the Vought F4U to land is a little bit tricky. At our field we are always counting , Monday, tuesday, wendsday, etc. , lol.
I will concede that there were many good landings shown in this video. But,. I wish to comment, as a retired commercial pilot, and one who flies RC as well, that virtually none of these pilots are flying a stabilized approach before landing. All appear to be in a high speed left hand turn which only ends as they fly at higher than necessary speeds over the runway threshold, causing the majority of touchdowns to occur at high speed and farther down the runway than necessary. I only observed a few pilots make the wise decision to do a go-a-round when their landings were poor , namely floating for an extended period of time, or flaring too soon and bouncing. In both of those occasions, a go-a-round would be prudent, especially given the cost of RC aircraft these days. Again, thank you for providing a well edited video of some ‘good’ landings. I just wish that these pilots would demonstrate better habits, as younger less experienced RC pilots need to see good habits, in order to learn them for themselves.
