I think this is absolutely brilliant but what I would like to see is something like a case just to hold the NBC gear or a small container to hold base building supplies
What we all really need is that over promised infected AI update. Not a reduction to stuff. I see what you mean and many others to only carry what you need but i do anyway. I generally run a mountain backpack but only use about 55 slots of it but others fill it, i dont see whats wrong with that. However what i do see an issue with is 10 years later they decide to adjist slot sizes, why 10 years later is exact same bag now smaller in inventory size and also 10 years later the wolves and bears are infected. Thats what makes no sense at all. The game is FULL of trivial bugs like infected, vehicles, collisions, clothing clipping, sounds, the lost goes on and on but none of it gets fixed. Instead we just get other stuff added or nerfed equipment.
Not other company made a competent competitor to dayz in ten years either. Might be a bit ( sarcasm ) more complicated than you are giving it credit for
@redshift912 Many have tried and failed. I think SCUM will be a competitor but not as it is now. It needs a lot of work before it's as good as dayz. Don't get me wrong I love dayz, if I switch on my xbox it's for dayz. It's a great game that has a lot of mechanical features that other games can't match. It just needs all the bugs ironing out.
@redshift912 I long for the day that dayz has modding capability but I personally don't ever think it will happen on console because of the requirements that would be needed. Steam runs the mods for dayz so we would need a third party to host the mods. Likes nexus does for fallout kinda thing. But then say you want to have winter Chernarus and more clothing, bigger backpacks, more guns and airdrops. That's 5 extra nods that everyone that wants to play that server needs to download which could be like an extra 5gb. Everyone would need an external hard drive just to run the mods lol. I dint ever think it will happen unless steam ports over all their stuff to console. I have ran dayz servers on console and on PC I know how it needs to run and how much space is needed for all the little bits. It just simply won't happen.
@@wastelander6341not sure why anyone is playing on console at this point. A used 200 dollar pc could run dayz with 60 solid on low settings which still look better than console
I like this. It is supposed to be a hardcore, realistic, survival game. Custom servers can do mods so the war boys can carry their Barretts and bazookas.
This change will be tough for everyone but it will improve the gameplay. Anyone who enjoys the survival aspext will appreciate it in the long run. If they dont they are playing the wrong game
I think an interesting idea could be alter the container inventory to mimic the shape of the backpack for example, similar to the way tarkov does it, with the external pockets being there own inventory.
The bags should have stayed mostly the same, especially the outdoor and military ones. The other changes make sense, even though i dont like them, and it adds to the challenge for sure
I actually really like the inventory changes, yes even the back packs. Seeing as DayZ is, at it's core, a survival game and as such should be quite challenging. However, in my opinion, the devs should best avoid making the game tedious instead of challenging. Reducing inventory slots but leaving the amount of uses in the repair kits (gun, leather, electric, ...) the same doesn't really work. I've been playing a LOT of experimental recently and it has been quite a lot of stashing guns/gun parts and cleaning kits, then running between these stashes until I got a propper setup going. Yes challenging, but also tedious. If they double the amount of uses in a repair kit, so 8 instead of 4, and resize the NBC stuff as mentioned I think the new inventory changes will positively add to the survival experience.
Hoarders complaining they can't carry every piece of loot on the server. Encourages teamwork, stashes, "loadouts", exploration, keeps gameplay loop going, helps loot pool, and for the record I'm doing fine solo with nothing but an army bag, field jacket, and combat pants.🤷♂️ soon as I find a canteen, holster, pouches, and sheath I'm set. Nice explanation Marks and congrats again on the job.
The only players I think this will annoy is PVP only players. I think it's a more realistic change. Shouldn't be able to carry a car wheel in your backpack 😂
Shouldn't be able to carry three AKs in one backpack, too. It's ridiculous. However, I also think there should be two different slots for T-shirts and jackets.
Nah it wouldn’t effect me at all because I light carry as is sometimes I challenge myself and run with no clothes just a plate carrier and a sling bag and gun of choice the LAR for both long and close range, so I’m good 😂😂😂
@Marks if you've ever played on Chernarus Has Fallen (CHF) these sorts of tweaks would be nothing new. Slots have been drastically reduced on that server for going on 4 years. They also keep you from accessing your bag without taking the bag off your back. Legit that needs to be in the game as well. I've been playing on CHF for over 3.5 years now and love the challenge and you definitely have to think more.
Facts I sometimes challenge myself to do a naked run, just a plate carrier and a sling bag no clothes and one gun, so this want change anything for us light carriers 😂
Ok if there going to do this…….at-least make ghilly suits able to wear army pouches or the pouches in general. I always run ghille suits having this clothing change makes ghille suits even more not viable to run than before
just started playing again after a while and the inventory change is one of my favorites, no longer can i just power thru drinking bad water with meds and carry two armories on my back
I'm OK with with the changes to the backpacks and clothes, but only if they reduced some of the gun sizes. For one, the M4 should be smaller than an AKM. Even the d*** profile, when you hold it smaller, you should be able to make it smaller if you have a folding buttstock or take the butt stock off and put it somewhere else and make the gun smaller too. Some guns should automatically be smaller. Like I believe. 18 slots should be the M4 size. Just like the all day? At the pretty similar size anyway.
My issue is I have developed a perfect combat oriented loadout, I only really PVP on official or community servers. I only carry what I need but now I can’t carry even minimum ammo or food. The mag pouches that attach to your plate carrier ( IRL ) can carry two 30 round mags each, for a total of six 30 round magazines or even three 60 round magazines. This would give you a basic ammo load of 210 rounds including the magazine in your gun. With the new changes they’ve completely removed that part of realism and it’s been two months since then.
I’m all for the changes in inventory space! Not being able to carry several rifles in a bag makes sense. However, it’s going to make base building slower and more frustrating than it already is, not being able to carry as many planks, logs or building supplies at one time. Maybe the devs are planning to address this at some point with a building update? Thoughts? @marks?!!! Great video btw bro! Hope you are enjoying your new role!!
Im happy with this. Im solo and it gives me a more realistic decision on whats important to me instead of being a walking tent. Makes my choices on gear more meaningful
I love the change as a solo player I don’t need much , it just keeps the game as a “Hardcore survival game” the reason I brought it back in update 0.29.
Clothing makes sense. I shouldn’t be able to stack 3 pistols in my armpits. Backpacks need to be reversed. If I carry one on my back and one in my hands (leaving me at a disadvantage) I should be able to carry a few things. Just makes Dayz and Dayz logic even more grindy and boring
I like this change. People are upset they can no longer stuff a full sized AKM in their pants. I do think it’ll make things tougher for new players who haven’t experienced DayZ inventory management, they don’t know what’s important so they take it all. And with clothes being changed, fresh spawns will have a slightly harder time as well. I like these changes, but I think it would’ve been acceptable to leave civilian clothing alone while still changing backpacks and military/hunting clothing
I totally agree never made sense you could carry an AR in your pants, or in the middle of a gunfight magically switch to a gun in your backpack. Any gun in a backpack should not be able to be on a quick bar
@@Mykee36 Agreed. This relates to something else I think should be a mechanic in game: non-fixed weapon slot counts. For example, the AK-74 takes up 27 slots no matter what you do to it. I think it’d be great if you could, say, take the stock off entirely for the gun to only take up say 18-20 slots or so. And having a suppressor should increase slot size by 2 or 3. This should affect all guns, pistols included. You could sacrifice recoil control for having a gun small enough to actually fit in a coat or backpack
That's what folding buttstocks are for. If I see gangbangers pulling carbines with the stocks off outta their pants I don't see why we couldn't squeeze an m4 without a stock in our backpacks. Would actually give a purpose to the folding buttstock at the same time since they never had a purpose. Just make us remove the stocks from guns or get folding ones, if the gun doesn't have a removable stock than you can't put it in your bag.
I do believe in tweaking the size of the NPC suit maybe some other items and that's it. The biggest thing they should do is change the damage you take from the zeds. So inventory spaces reduced but you also don't need as many items to repair, sewing kits etc.
They NEED to make base building or stashes easyer/ more usefull. I dont build bases anymore cause ill spend hours building log off for the night log back on and be raided. Useless. Really gonna suck now with no loot space on my person
Also, with regard to the ' feedback tracker ' unless you are a well known content creator for DayZ on one of the platforms or you know someone at Bohemia, they do not give one damn about anything there unless it is put there by 99.99% of all people and someone there points it out. if just a few talk about something it does not matter to Bohemia one bit, In addition unless you are a PVP player they will not bother making changes to things.
@@Marks12 not once has anything I have reported ever been responded to and I have been sending feedback for many years. eventually some 'content creator' says something about it then it gets looked at. Maybe YOU will look and bring things forward if you are involved in the process but whoever does it these days and for the past many years does nothing unless it affects some bottom line of a content creator like toperec, mindr, and others who are top tier creators.
I personally don’t like it that they change the size of the backpacks. I usually pick up what I can when I can because it’s hard to find places to store your items. If you don’t fine a tent, or barrel, or nails axe and a saw to make a chest you have to carry everything with you.
I don't agree with the clothing and back pack degradation. It will hurt solo, solo duo. ESP when doing raids, and honestly ever since they updated the gun count there is loads of loot that is not a problem.
Would be great to be able to disassemble some of the guns maybe snipers or the larger weapons but the changes to the inventory will definitely add a cool layer to the game
The decreased inventory size might have an unforseen consequence. I can see players taking what they want from town loot, leaving the dross or "junk", and all those junk items building up over time. Things like collar dresses, badly damaged anything, rubber slugs, kitchen timers, so forth. All those items sitting there waiting out their timers before despawning to make way for more desirable items might not be such a good thing. Or am I totally mistaken here?
Regarding backpacks, they should have just made it so you can't put a rifle in a backpack. But I'd like to see them add a rifle or mele to the outside.
So they reduce the amount of slot space in all clothing and backpacks and then resize items to fit, all that work for a completely pointless exercise that does quite frankly nothing. If this is the best the devs can come up with for changes to the game then leave it to the modders we will get better content....
Still cant check the inventory in the car, still cant drag a wounded friend or dead body. Still no grande launcher for the m4/ak, still no 4wheeler or bike, still cant sit in a chair. Still didnt put eggs in, still broken base building mechanics, still cant board up window and doors, still cant armor cars(in a zombie game). Still still still no automatic pistol, still no ankle holsters, still cant syphon gas or jumpstart a car, Just fix the game please. Quality of life over a map
next step is to restrict weapon carry. they should remove one shoulder slot . its what we used to have and it makes you think even more, wich is a really good thing. dont really need 2 weapons slots i would also like to reduce the inv slots more like we had in 62, to counter this you could add attatchements to the items. lets say a bag, it can carry the bottles hook some gloves or masks to it etc pants can also have belts with more equipement added to it. by doing this you can smoothly reduce slots sizes to 62 style. it has its pros and cons but taking what you need is better than to know you can just take everything
Ima be honest since base building kinda sucks I usually just carry my needed things on me and just make stashes if it were like rust where could have bases that were actually safe then I would mind this change but I need my space lol I’m a loot goblin
I agree with the clothing items being reduced in inventory size but bags i fell they shoudlve kept it the same as it wouldve increase all of their value by 10 fold
Think the Dev's should have resized items along with the reducing of carrying capacity in experimental to properly gauge the response from the community. Also give bigger backpacks one or two tool/equipment slots like some of the mods.
You mention traveling light so leaving pouches behind but I would keep the pouches and maybe ditch a backpack first, given the protection factor the pouches provide.
If the devs are concerned about loot in town, they could just decrease the spawn timers If community servers are any kind of example the servers can definitely handle a minor boost in loot instead of resizing everything
I'm ok with the size reduction. Normally I have a sling bag, pants, jacket and sometimes pouches. Now I will have to try a little harder for a hunter backpack or similar.
One idea of mine was increasing the usage of sewing kits it might balance it a little instead of collecting multiple of them all the time they seem to be a bit rare sometimes 👍
@@zorgovenga the more damaged the more likely hood of sickness because of cold nothing to do with looks, how meny hours do you have if you mide me asking because apparently 1700 isn't enough to know the game?
I don't like it. This change has minimal benefits and significant costs, and I certainly don't see the game being any more fun because of it. I'll drive less cars because I can't carry car parts, build less bases because I can't carry all the tools, and I have less reason to go find good loot because I can't carry anymore anyway.
The backpack changes arent terrible 63 to 56. The clothing everything is basically half. The pouches to 15 is rough. But why resize everything? If you are gonna resize the loot too. This seems like a backup plan incase we wig out too much. Which i see happening specifically in official.
I think they are trying to make it more realistic as in not being able to carry so much stuff but still make it playable by resizing things that you need such as a set of nbc gear
I think there was a million other things the devs need to be working on then inventory space. Let's be real it will take them a whole year to re size every item in the game . This was a terrible idea from a marketing and replayability stance. This will definitely drop the player count . There has already been hundreds of vets in this game move on to only modded maps or just plain out playing other games because how slow the devs have taken to to get the game where it is . Frostbite is really gonna have to bring a punch to keep a good taste for the game we all love . Cuz at this point base building should not be as dull as it is and a headache as it . But hey here's some more clothes with smaller inventory and a boat
@@Marks12 I said it "WILL" take them a whole year to resize every thing accordingly.maybe read and understand before just Mr. Know it all and fire back with no real thought to what I said . But if you would like I can elaborate. That I wouldn't say making inventory smaller and harder to access would be a bad thing. But how long it will take to rebalance everything so mending feels like a necessary chore rather then a repeating nightmare. I think they could have slowly worked on this in the background and when they have polished a few much needed things then add the inventory change. But at this point we are just playing an unpolished mess of a game. (My opinion.)
I find the idea of reducing the sizes of everything a bit odd but I guess it should make inventory sorting and modification easier from a drag and drop perspective, maybe harder when you try and Tetris items into the inventories - hard to say without having tried it yet ;) Maybe, there could be a couple of very rare oversized bags out there, for those who are loot goblins ..... If you have a group go through town ahead of you, the loots gone regardless, not actually helping the solo players out there perhaps ...
If the goal is to make us carry less, wouldn't making the number of slots everything has higher and increasing the number of slots items use be a better solution? It would offer more granular control if instead of (for example) 16 slots in a container and a pistol takes 6 of them, that it was 160 slots in the container and the pistol consumed 60?
The game lacks a complete change in the inventory that players do not have to scroll the inventory, or at least reduce the need to do so, for example, by changing the size of the items themselves, that for example a can of beans 2x2 slots will take 1x1 slot or 1x2, and is equivalent to cut slots of items, cut clothing slots, the result will get a more compact inventory without the need to scroll constantly in it
There plenty of times where you fine a dmr lar at a convoy with out a mag and you could be carrying a a shout gun sk ect if we haven’t got gun cleaning kit ammo ect we’ll have to leave high tier weapons behind
I like it personally as a hardcore survival fan. Carrying half a house's worth of loot everywhere is silly, I like being forced to choose what to prioritize in a survival game. Sneaking several rifles in your bag is ridiculous for a game like DayZ
Love it. Will have a noticable impact on player behavior as many are forced to scavenge for an item they earlier thought wasn't worth carrying at the time.
Just spawned in and half my loot was in the ground. Say what yall want this effects solo players like me huge 😣... I choose to live in only tents and I have them scattered about and this just made my life that much harder and for what?? I don't get why this was an issue. They literally cut field bags in half 😢
In the next update, it would be awesome if they increase the spawn rate of rarer building items, like #pickaxes, #splittingaxes and #sledgehammer, in specific towns... For example, if a town is next to a quarry, pickaxes spawn rates double and all other tools are cut in half.
Yeh I did a fresh start on 1.25 this evening. At one point I was literally carrying 4 rolls of tape, 2 leather sewing kits and 2 normal sewing kits. So this change will really just force me to control my greed lol. But I guess we will all see how it goes.

This would be a super easy mod to make, but I agree would be a nice change to vanilla dayz.
I think this is absolutely brilliant but what I would like to see is something like a case just to hold the NBC gear or a small container to hold base building supplies
Explain why its brilliant or youre a moron.
There are modded belts that are tool belts that can hold a majority of the building tools. That would be cool in vanilla
If you cycle the loot there is always loot for other players. I do this every time because a new player always deserves a chance at new loot.
@@wastelander6341attribute based pvp will never hold a flame to dayz pvp . Maybe when modding is available someone will remove all that in scum
This will help noobs with inventory management and stamina which is so underrated in the game
Bro we need a new building overhaul like please tell the devs that
I like this. It is supposed to be a hardcore, realistic, survival game. Custom servers can do mods so the war boys can carry their Barretts and bazookas.
People will still loot the whole town though, they will just grab another piece of clothing or backpack and fill that up and throw it in the bushes
as loot goblin I am this change is tough, this changes me playing style. but change is good you know ...
Exactly this.
Having certain pockets that only fit the small items and don't mold into the overall space .. 👍
Like it✅
The bags should have stayed mostly the same, especially the outdoor and military ones. The other changes make sense, even though i dont like them, and it adds to the challenge for sure
It’s good. Most rifles shouldn’t fit in a bag. Make compact mean something
I think the bag nerf is stupid, especially the waterproof backpack cos that's what solos usually use for stashes
As a solo player, I'm not sure how to carry anything now. 10 man groups will have 2 mules with double backpacking and just hoover everything.
@@Mave74BassEditsfortheBlowout so exactly how it already works
Its already a challenge to be able to pick and choose what to carry and how to manage your inventory. I dont know what the devs were thinking.
There is different perspectives on what you need or classified as essentials.
There is but it doesn’t mean it’s right . My wife brings twenty bags for a two day vacation while I bring one .
Base building could do with alittle treak to your stored loot less raidable or just hacked
make the game more hardcore, i'm very happy about this.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this
Yea bro I’m with you. When you grasp the basics it becomes too easy. Surviving is supposed to be hard. It’s not an FPS.
Exactly. I looted a guy the other day, he had three assault rifles in his Tactical backpack. Yeah, veeeery tactical. It's just ridiculous.
@zorgovenga same killed a dude wich had a Mosin,m16,sval,2 sv 98 and ak 74
Dayz shouldn’t be easy imo
Time to get the inventory buff mod,
The only players I think this will annoy is PVP only players. I think it's a more realistic change. Shouldn't be able to carry a car wheel in your backpack 😂
You're right...
...dammit😂
its a pvp game, what the fuck is the opposite of a pvp only player.
Shouldn't be able to carry three AKs in one backpack, too. It's ridiculous. However, I also think there should be two different slots for T-shirts and jackets.
@@zorgovenga yeah totally
Or… this just increases duping of crates/barrels and tents.
It’s already over the top on console.
Make a rifle scabbard for the field back pack so you can carry an extra gun. It’s a giant rucksack essentially
Alice bag carrying the same as a combat backpack is insane, literally no other way to describe it
Always travelled light. One of my main rules
I like that I now know for sure what is going on! Good job and good luck with the new job!
Thanks for the update. It has been a bit more challenging for sure with the backpack size reductions, especially with NBC gear.
If they are cutting inventory they need to update base building

I don't mind the inventory size changing but it's pretty drastic in the backpacks
Would be great to be able to disassemble some of the guns maybe snipers or the larger weapons but the changes to the inventory will definitely add a cool layer to the game
hey mark, i think it would be nice if they added more attachments to backpack.
But I'd like to see them add a rifle or mele to the outside.
people angry about that is the same people playing pvp servers thinking dayz is the new call of duty, dayz is a survival game first of all
So they reduce the amount of slot space in all clothing and backpacks and then resize items to fit, all that work for a completely pointless exercise that does quite frankly nothing.
Still still still no automatic pistol, still no ankle holsters, still cant syphon gas or jumpstart a car,
Just fix the game please. Quality of life over a map
next step is to restrict weapon carry. they should remove one shoulder slot . its what we used to have and it makes you think even more, wich is a really good thing. dont really need 2 weapons slots
i would also like to reduce the inv slots more like we had in 62, to counter this you could add attatchements to the items. lets say a bag, it can carry the bottles hook some gloves or masks to it etc
pants can also have belts with more equipement added to it. by doing this you can smoothly reduce slots sizes to 62 style. it has its pros and cons but taking what you need is better than to know you can just take everything
As a solo runner, these changes seem harsh, althought not being able to carry a bolt in a backpack is a good change
This really makes having a team much more mandatory if you want have a loot run
Been playing on servers for years that have similar size . Most played solo and had good sized bases
So stoked for this! Truly makes dayz look like the survival game its supposed to be.
Also give bigger backpacks one or two tool/equipment slots like some of the mods.
what if we could sling 3rd weapon to big backpacks , just like we already can to certain modded bags
You mention traveling light so leaving pouches behind but I would keep the pouches and maybe ditch a backpack first, given the protection factor the pouches provide.
If the devs are concerned about loot in town, they could just decrease the spawn timers
If community servers are any kind of example the servers can definitely handle a minor boost in loot instead of resizing everything
I really like the inv size changes so far. And is doesn’t even effect me too much.
I've always liked vanilla but I guess servers with clothing mods are gonna be a must now. these inventory changes are stupid
I'm ok with the size reduction. Normally I have a sling bag, pants, jacket and sometimes pouches. Now I will have to try a little harder for a hunter backpack or similar.
Meanwhile I’m still waiting for a better way to carry logs and sheet metal haha
Me, as a renown member of the loot-goblin foundation, am not amused.
One idea of mine was increasing the usage of sewing kits it might balance it a little instead of collecting multiple of them all the time they seem to be a bit rare sometimes 👍

Defenitly didn't take a year idk where u got that from
@@Marks12 I said it "WILL" take them a whole year to resize every thing accordingly.maybe read and understand before just Mr.
I think this is a good change but not enough surviving should be harder
Sneaking several rifles in your bag is ridiculous for a game like DayZ
people will just throw the loot they can't carry so that no one else can pick it up
There should have left the bags some size
In the next update, it would be awesome if they increase the spawn rate of rarer building items, like #pickaxes, #splittingaxes and #sledgehammer, in specific towns... For example, if a town is next to a quarry, pickaxes spawn rates double and all other tools are cut in half.
I like this change, but I think they need to review other items too on size and weight. Other thing, dry any mask take more time then a huge jacket.
Yeh I did a fresh start on 1.25 this evening. At one point I was literally carrying 4 rolls of tape, 2 leather sewing kits and 2 normal sewing kits. So this change will really just force me to control my greed lol. But I guess we will all see how it goes.
