My best friend and I used to walk up to each other in high school and one of us would randomly start doing a song from the first Fantomas record and the other would have to join in. That's how well we knew those songs.
Your Frank Zappa comparison to Mike Patton is spot on for a few reasons: variety of styles and projects and genres, and variety even within each individual project, but also in just the sheer volume of output, the man is insanely prolific.
Also no matter what kind of genre or style or song he's doing, he somehow manages to get his 'stank' on it, that kind of specific stylistic and unique things he does that just make it so him.
My Italian buddy took his aging mother and father to the Mondo Cane concert and they absolutely loved it and said it was the best concert they'd been to!
Mojo! I used to play this in the office right before getting off work every Friday. It's important to also pantomime all the drug references while lip synching. My coworkers loved it, lol.
The PERFECT artist to start with! His talent is truly on another level. His project Mondo Cane was amazing! Only Mike could make old 50's & 60's Italian pop songs that appealing! 😳
Mike Pattons Vocal Range/Ability is NUTS. There is a Video by Jackson Oliviara on TH-cam compiling and mapping his Vocal Range. I think it's worth a look, even if you don't react to it and break it down (although we'd love to see it) you should watch it on your own time. Pretty amazing stuff.
Rahzel is the amazing beatboxer you hear on Mojo. Should you ever do another song from that album, I heavily suggest We're Not Alone. It's not necessarily most representative of the record, as it's probably the most traditional rock track on there, but it's such a fantastic song that you just have to hear it!
This Peeping Tom album is awesome. You should check out Five Seconds or Don't Even Trip. But you really can't go wrong with anything Mike has been involved with. Loveage, Music to Make Music to Your Old Lady By is pretty awesome and I think you'd enjoy Mondo Cane also. Just such a prolific guy involved in so many unique projects.
Geebz my man, so close to one of my absolute favorite songs - When Good Dogs Do Bad Things by Dillinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton from the same ep (easily one of my top 3 EPs). Happy for the whole reaction today as always, thanks!

I love the comparison to Zappa, very fitting. I hadn't heard the Dillinger stuff, so that was a nice treat. Great video overall, and this was a great example of the extended video format. Looking forward to the Claypool video!

I love the reactions. I love watching your movements and being able to see you are hearing and understanding so many things Patton does that may take others to listen to over and over to hear.
The Dillinger Escape Plan, one of my all time favorite bands, are really also worth a listen. A few songs. Baby's first coffin, from Miss Machine. And Low feels blvd from Dissociation. Both Songs in my opinion, shows the diversity of the band, where it can be both extremely hardcore and technical, but also extremely beautiful.
Very cool Geebz. You picked a nice journey there. Many more to come with MP. Mondo Cane, Fantomas, his songs with Sepultura, Lovage, Le Chanson de Jacky with Secret Chiefs 3, a song with The Tango Saloon, a great tune with the late Mark Lanegan, a song with Alain Johannes, a song with Bjork, Team Sleep, Dead Cross, Corpse Flower, as well as his work with John Zorn, and that’s just the beginning! What a rabbit hole!
I highly recommend reacting to the entire Peeping Tom album. That whole album is absolutely stellar. There is such a wide range of genre-bending music on it that it will make your head spin.
I'm not even a hip-hop or pop fan but its got enough of the oldschool stuff to give me nostalgia. Then of course Patton is doing amazing like usual. Id also suggest the Tomahawk album Anonymous, it certainly has its own consistent theme too.

My only critique of this video is that it wasn't nearly long enough. Thank you for this video and please come back and do another Mike Patton video. He has so much great stuff out there.
I was taking a music theory class from a classical/jazz pianist, who had perfect pitch btw. One day he dared us to bring in any cd of our choice and play any track. He wanted to show us that all songs produced on a reputable label would follow the “Sonata Allegra” format. So I introduced him to Mike Patton and dared him to pick the track. We ended up listening to about 5 songs during class. Some were S.A. Some weren’t. But He did ask if he could borrow all three albums and the next day he was in love this impossible new music. Your reaction was like dejavu to his reaction. You took me back brother.

It sure was fun to experience your first impressions and reactions to tracks I have been enjoying since their original release dates. Thanks for the entertaining and thought-provoking work. Much Love.
Patton is the G.O.A.T.
Fantomas - Experiment in Terror
Tomahawk - Capt Midnight
Dillinger Escape Plan & Mike Patton - When Good Dogs Do Bad Things
These three for the next Mike Patton songs please!
considering the rich, rich catalogue, maybe this should be part one of many . . . fantastic work as usual!
Haven't even watched the video yet but so excited!!! Mike Patton is one of my favorites!!
You haven't even begun to stir the Patton pot. Can't wait to see you dive into more of him in the future. Great reactions!
Mike Patton and Devin Townsend are the most stunning and versatile musicians these days (and during the last at least 25 years). For me at least.
Ihsahn too man. Those 3 are each the most interesting musicians. Because everything they do just feels so natural.
I say this with love- stop second guessing yourself! Your instincts are spot on! Always love your videos. I could watch you pick apart Patton all day!
Part 2, please!! Try Fantomas!
Great! Please do more Patton 🤘
Thank you for diving down the Mike Patton rabbit hole.
Keep up the great work. One Love
Kaada/Patton is wild. I’d recommend “Aubade.”
Fantastic! Would be awesome to see you react to Fantomâs, their directors cut album is some weird but awesome stuff :D (Twin peaks, godfather or rosemarys baby)
I’m not gonna lie, I am a bit disappointed there was no Mondo Cane where he sings in Italian with an orchestra. Lots of great live performances.
More to come - was soooooo many suggestions :)
@@KeyOfGeebz It is not a reflection on you as much as the responses when you asked in your previous post.
Not to mention Geebz could do 20+ episodes on just this one guy.
@@KeyOfGeebz keep it coming!
@@KeyOfGeebz You've got to do Deep Down off that album. I mean it's Paton covering Ennio Morricone doing pop...
I love the comparison to Zappa, very fitting. I hadn't heard the Dillinger stuff, so that was a nice treat. Great video overall, and this was a great example of the extended video format. Looking forward to the Claypool video!
Hell yes, we definitely need a Les vid.
Luv the way he pushes the vocals in god hates a coward...building radical and hard .awesome. luv the extra texture of the crackles and winding squeels...sorta thing textural awesome.
I love the reactions. I love watching your movements and being able to see you are hearing and understanding so many things Patton does that may take others to listen to over and over to hear.
I love watching you experience Patton! I can see you getting the mojo!
Just so much new Mike Patton you have given me!!! Whoop Whoop Oi Oi!!! Thank you!!!
Some of the riffs sounded backwards, like the start (normal start) I found them at the end...
Loved the format! Cool to hear the artist's variations and Patton is perfect for that. Thanks.
Hellyeah man... the best vocalist in the world!!
🤘🏼🤘🏿🤘🥁🥁🥁🎸🎸🎸
Very cool Geebz. You picked a nice journey there. Many more to come with MP. Mondo Cane, Fantomas, his songs with Sepultura, Lovage, Le Chanson de Jacky with Secret Chiefs 3, a song with The Tango Saloon, a great tune with the late Mark Lanegan, a song with Alain Johannes, a song with Bjork, Team Sleep, Dead Cross, Corpse Flower, as well as his work with John Zorn, and that’s just the beginning! What a rabbit hole!
I was so happy to see you reviewing three of my favourite songs with Patton. He's a genius.
Great vid as usual and I've been waiting for the deep dive into Mike Pattons work. Keep up the good work 👍
I highly recommend reacting to the entire Peeping Tom album. That whole album is absolutely stellar. There is such a wide range of genre-bending music on it that it will make your head spin.
It’s an incredible album.
I'm not even a hip-hop or pop fan but its got enough of the oldschool stuff to give me nostalgia. Then of course Patton is doing amazing like usual. Id also suggest the Tomahawk album Anonymous, it certainly has its own consistent theme too.
I found looked into DubTrio after hearing the We’re not alone on it.Ones of my favorites now. You’re right the album is great for sure.
I saw Mike Patton and clicked. I'm never disappointed !
Glad you chose this format to explore this artist. You have so much genius ahead of you.
Aloha Geebz, remember you mentioned Peru on that live stream? you probably don't but that was me...anyway, thanx for doing more Patton...and hope you dive into more mighty KYUSS too...also kyuss' former members have all done a lot musically after the band broke up( mid 90s)...you've already done some Queens Of The Stone Age ...take care, aweright!
Amazing choice!
There's a really good video for God Hates a Coward!
That live one? With the respirator? Love it!
@@AzazelCain yeah, that's it!
It's such a reaction-worthy video.
Such a shame Geebz didn't know! Haha
@@WebsterA Flashback too!
@@WebsterA but he did know. everybody told him
@@bifferoni14 oh that's unfortunate.
Geebz is great but reaction guys should realize there always should be a "Wow Factor"
Ex.
1) it's your favorite band and watching someone discover them is awesome.
2) the video is so visually "over the top", it makes for an eventful reaction.
3) Metalheads reacting to rap
Rappers reacting to metal
Older composers outside their
comfort zone etc.
We've seen quite a bit of the latter category here is all I'm sayin. Lol
God only made one Mike Patton, we are very lucky to be alive to hear him. Great show!
Love love the long format, especially with one artist.
Mike patton is the best vocalist of our time
Largest octave range
Perfect pitch
Oh I LOVE Peeping Tom! Mojo is so good. He's even beat boxing throughout it yooo! I just heard both God Hates A Coward and Pig Latin in the last few weeks myself! Guy's a theatrical, musical, vocal genius. He can sound like anything. Great video Geebz, excellent choices for the songs!
Oh man your reaction at 20:13 made me laugh out loud! 😆
It is not an uncommon reaction when listening to Patton. Truly one of the most gifted vocalists alive with a range unrivaled by most, and at the same time one of the most unpredictable.
I love this journey you're on. Keep it up Geebz!
Quality! A great format to show off a truly talented artist.
This is the best episode yet! So happy you are enjoying the ride so far! Thank you! thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
@@KeyOfGeebz Oh I DO! I have been a Mike Patton fan since high school like many others. You literally cover all the stuff I listen to and would want to share with you if we hung out! Lol Its fan-flipping-tastic!
😎👍
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the title! What a perfect gradation of intensity, too :D Cool format, keep it up, Geebz 🔥
So glad you did this. Patton does so much variety, it's great to have it as a collected thing. Chuffed you're enjoying it too dude.
I am late to this but i wanted to chime in. I have seen every Mie Patton band live and they sound this good live. Great review mate.
