Just to clarify *This is my favourite dash cam and the one that I use* - as mentioned on my website, when I can afford it I intend to buy another two so that I can put one in my other car as well as use one for a rearview-camera in this car. The app supports a dual-camera set-up. - There is a FOLLOW UP VIDEO with HINTS & TIPS for this camera here th-cam.com/video/jb4PSB-4z6A/w-d-xo.html
Low light PQ seems out of this world. I got myself Yi dashcam after your recommendation but this might be its replacement. So I either sell Yi or use it as rearview cam. Decisions decisions.
Hello Mr. Techmoan, I greatly appreciate all the videos and watch even the ones that don't interest myself as I just like your format. (I actually found your channel looking for reviews on the diabetic equipment believe it or not!) I think you should make videos about whatever you are passionate about, because those will be the videos which are the best. While many won't share your enthusiasm for Dashcams, you present it well and it still makes for an interesting watch. Thank you for reading this :)
forgot one thing, When someone wants to buy a auto cam and they realy sure that they got a good one. But then just to be sure they go on youtube and then they can find your video's lot of cams cheap excepencive and the review quality is great and some cams can only be find on your channel
Keep on making videos about anything that interests YOU. You have a great presenting style. Very dry but informative. You are meticulous in presenting information about each item you review. I don't care if it's door bells or gramophone greeting cards or dash cams I find ALL your videos to be entertaining.
Same, but I originally came to the channel because of Dash Cams and it's great to see them. I say, do what you want to but you still have an audience that likes the dash cams.
Being in the process of actully getting a dashcam, I truly enjoy your vids on the subject. They are, indeed, an excellent source of info on what to expect from a good one... Thanks for sharing!...
This is the very first dashcam review I've ever watched, and it is everything and more than I could have wanted to know. Thank you for such a wonderfully in-depth review!
Can't believe that I've spent hours looking at rubbish dash cam reviews only to fid the most concise and informative of all from your posting!!! many thanks for such a great service Matt... Just purchased mine plus a battery system too....
I for one appreciate your dash cam reviews and this review might of just sold one. You show us what we need to know in an easy to understand, unbiased nature (as in all of your videos). I say keep them coming, if people don't want to see them they don't have to click them, they can sit back and wait for your next fantastic video instead. :c) I love that car of yours! Being Canadian I don't get to see cars like that cruising the neighbourhood. I didn't even know it existed until now, thanks.
Your Dashcam videos are my favorite ones. Don't stop doing them. I have an Itronics ITB100 that has worked well for several years in the desert heat of Nevada. But I am dashcam shopping for relatives and future purchases. So keep them coming as they are constantly changing.
If you are serious about supporting Matt and his "brilliant reviews", this www.patreon.com/techmoan is the way to do it. That way you can support him. :')
After 3 years of use in my GMC Sierra 4x4 that I have 2 DDPAI M6+ (one pointed forward one pointed backwards) I have to say that I am very pleased with them. I drive rough ungraded gravel roads a lot and not at slow speeds. If they will stand up to what I put them thru and keep on working perfectly you guys in the city should do very well with them. Absolutely worth the money!!!!!
I bought this dashcam this week cost me £69. I was using the mini 806 but that developed a fault, in fact quite a few faults. I must say the DDPai M6+ is a smashing cam. The app works flawlessly, and the footage is fantastic. Thanks to Techmoan again for a wonder review of this cam.
I love your dashcam videos, I enjoy watching them as much as you do your Audio Equipment, Kitchen Appliance, Vintage PC, and Consumer Electronic product videos. While I personally enjoy the Audio Format and equipment ones best as I have a background in music/audio and also was into vintage audio equipment collecting at one point (mainly Marantz), it was your Dashcam videos what originally brought me to your channel and made me a subscriber as I was once looking at Dashcam videos back when I was looking to buy one, and unlike other dashcam reviews which are uninformative or really boring, yours aren't. So forget those who may complain about not wanting to see or like your dashcam videos as I'm sure there's many more like myself who just like any video you do. Anyways, keep up the good work! I always look forward to your future videos, no matter the subject.
Love the dash cam reviews, mine is playing up (Battery) after 3 years, so this looks like a good replacement :) Paid for itself when I had a guy reverse into me and claim I had driven into him...
It's really difficult to find a moderately unbiased review source for dashcams. Because they change quality, price, and often fail due to their value-priced manufacture, it's truly valuable to have an ongoing review site. KEEP IT UP
I started watching your channel for the möbius dash cam review. I enjoy all of your videos. Your format is perfect in my opinion. It's good to have a sensible and unbiased source for reviews. Keep up the good work, sir!
I bought one of these cameras based on your review and I'm very pleased. It arrived quickly and was up and running within 45 mins. I bought a car power lead and SD card from the same suppliers and they sent everything out in the same parcel. I wired mine into the accessories power supply for the rear view mirror to avoid running the cable down the windscreen pillar. I like your reviews by the way :v)
Techmoan, first off you won me over with your videos of old tech such as your recent Cassette video. You have a real talent for presentation which keeps me coming back. I stumbled across your dash cam review of The Wedge A119 and loved it so much I ordered one. After some further research, I found the video review of DDPai and quickly realized that it fits my needs far better and would actually simplify my life, so I will be getting that one instead. You should really consider becoming a salesman, I love your attention to details. Thank you again for your work and keep doing what you're doing, you got a new subscriber!
Do you think you could try using a polarising filter (CPL) on this M6+? I use a DIY filter for my Mini 0801 and, whilst the night time is great without the filter, it's almost pitch black with the filter on during the night and therefore a pain to take off and put back on each time I want drive from day to night.
I have no plans to...I'm completely fine with reflections, they don't bother me at all or cause any technical issues that would make the footage unusable.
I've got to ask the following just for my own curiosity... 1) what is it about reflections that bothers you? 2) do you think reflections will prevent the video showing what occurred in the event of an accident? 3) does you car have a light coloured dashboard and a windscreen angle similar to my roadster that accentuates reflections?
Personally I can only say that the reflections bother me is because I'm a natural worrier (especially if, for some crazy reason, a reflection blurs out a number plate or something)! Whilst I know dashcams are mostly for evidence purposes, sometimes I like to record my journeys simply for personal use and/or types of vlogging, and reflections are nice to avoid in that case. I have a dark coloured dashboard but the reflections in my car are definitely not as bad as I am claiming them to be - I just thought I'd ask to see if you had thought of what it would be like with a filter in order to just make it an even better camera and more worth the purchase, even if it is more a personal thing :) Quite bland answers I know, but I hope it fits your curiosity in some way!
Thanks for the reply. I was just curious as it's something that I'm not personally concerned about, so it's good to hear why these things are important to others. I'm just one person, so I can only reflect my own opinions. If I ever find my 0806 CPL filter, I'll see if there's a way to attach it onto this camera and I'll report back on how it's gone.
Thank you for making Dash Cam review for all of us. I was having a hard time purchasing my first dash cam three years ago. Thanks to your video, you made it easier for me. Now I'm looking to purchase another one and I like what I see in your review on the DDpai M6+. Your asking if you should continue to make Dash Cam Review? Yes absolutely. Don't ever let others that never contributed to Video Reviews in youtube. Most of them don't even have a youtube video. Again thanks
Have you every looked at the BlackVue cameras? I know they are in the top price range but I have the 650GW and I think its the best one Iv every had. Oh and, I don't mind if you keep making the dash cam videos lol.
Techmoan That is very true, watching this video though, Im not sure why any dash cam should be priced over £100 if you can get this good of a camera for that price.
I think having a camera that can see things in the night that you can't isn't a good idea as it may make it look like the pedestrians you ran over were clearly visible when they weren't.
Cam sees better then me at night- putting CPL filter will make night vid more realistic - Also footage Looks like U R going Faster - good reason to have GPS on-
Yes always always do more dash cam vids. I love seeing what is available and I love the way you review them. I bought my last one based on one of your vids. Thanks Mat-
Dinkle_Man Dashcams could still be useful if you own a bicycle, coupled with a small battery/power supply in a helmet or mounted to the chassis in the event of an accident involving an automobile.
Another great one. Was watching one of your earlier videos (nearly watched them all!) and didn't know you travelled in to Manchester City centre daily - I live in the city centre! If I ever bump into you, I'll buy you a coffee and you could literally talk at me about LaserDiscs, vinyl records, 8-tracks, reel-to-reels all day!
Brilliant! I have been looking for a "concierge" dashcam for years. I have a mobius for my model aircraft endeavors and use that as a stand-in when parking for brief periods in questionable areas. What I've been waiting for is something like this DDPAI M6 Plus that can be installed and ultimately forgotten about until there is a need. Purchased one a few minutes ago from your link. Considering you are the World's authority on the every-man's dashcam, I sincerely hope you're making a buck off the time and effort you place forth. I appreciate it. Online reviewers like yourself are so few; the line drawn between honest consumer reviewer and manufacturer is so thin. Thanks for walking that line without net.
Forget the uninterested people! New dashcams come out all the time and some of us love hearing your take on them. (Mine is on it;s last legs, so I am looking for a replacement.)
Bought one based on your informative reviews of other cameras and statement that this is your current choice. I love the video quality, magnetic mount, and easy of operation. One of the nicest features (based on my car) is that the mount cannot be seen from the outside due to my front window tint. The app could use some work, but it's ok. My only issue is the video and sound don't sync - on playback (on any player) the sound runs about 3-4 seconds ahead of the video. Not a big deal, but interesting quirk. Thanks again for the review and all the great videos you post.
What????? The dash cams are the best videos lol. Literally the reason I subbed. Everything else is a bonus. How can people say not to make dashcam videos??
To hell with what the others say. I find all your reviews to be top notch and informative. Especially about dash cameras. Heck I'm still rocking my K1S in my Honda Insight.
Thanks again Matt for another great review. I had another type of dash cam but it MELTED!!! I ordered my DDPAI M6 Plus today. More people from North America should have dash cams in their vehicles. People drive terrible. I enjoy your dash cam and action video cam reviews. Not really into the retro stuff but I enjoy your videos so just "keep making videos"! Some smart quad copter manufacturer should send you one to review... that would be interesting
Quick update for anyone looking to buy this unit. I bought one two years ago based on this video. It work really well and I had no trouble with it for 18 months. Up to the point I needed to remove it from the screen to swap cars all was well. Then with only a gently tug, the plastics for the fixing body/ball joint crumbled. It looks like the UV killed the plastic. However the unit still works, just flops about now.
I love this camera. Got mine from ebay and the seller even mentioned this video :) Firmware is updated and it seems to work just fine with samsung s7, none of the problems some ppl have been getting. Best thing is that i can use the cam as a security camera when inside the house. camera is on constant power so i can connect to it whenever i want and see whats happening outside my house.
I just ordered that camera thanks to you! I have watched every single one of your dashcam videos and this one was good enough for me to buy. finally! Thank you!
I went to Wigan Tech 79-81 where you pulled out of the one way at Mesnes Park Terrace - had a massive snowvball fight where you turned right ha ha small world huh ? Wigan Tech has changed a bit since....
I bought this camera after seeing this video. Just did the latest update on it, and the funny thing is that many things you talked about you wanted them to change, they actually change them haha
Thought I would just mention this. I bought this Dashcam for my wife. It is great , exactly as you demonstrated. On the strength of being so pleased with Unit no 1 I ordered one for myself. Everything is fine except that I cant see any maps on the recorded track files. Now after substituting the cameras and using different phones I seem to have diagnosed the error to the Android App. IOS is fine but numerous Android devices just show a track start and end point but on a blue background ( No Map ). Everything else is great.
DDpai M6 plus A get camera . Plug and play and simple for a beginner to use. Also has MPH if you go into settings and change to imperial. Excellent quality day and night.
For what it's worth, I'm a fan of the dash cam reviews... been watching for a long long time, and this one makes probably the 4th or 5th cam that I've bought off of your recommendation ^_^ If they keep getting better, keep doing your reviews mate... they come in handy
Please keep those dash cam videos coming. I actually like them as well as your old tech videos too. In fact as soon as you came out of the carpark, I realised you where in Liverpool. I also like the idea of this dash came more than all of the others that you have tried.
@Techmoan the second announcement is "GPS定位成功" which is, roughly, "GPS positioning successful" just fyi your reviews, both dashcam and otherwise, are fantastic. keep it up.
Had a good laugh when you revealed the park guard recordings were set off by a Subaru and Mitsubishi. The usual suspects ;) Great review as always, I will keep this camera in mind for my next purchase.
The discontinued DDPai M6, in summer 2019, is still available from eBay and one UK supplier. Still seems a good choice. As mobile phones "do everything" I wondered about setting up the mobile phone for navigation and dashcam. I installed Android Auto which has large buttons, voice control and opens up the Waze or Google maps and plays music. I also installed AutoBoy Blackbox to act as dashcam. My phone has a 23Mp camera so HD recording are good. Reflection from the windscreen of the Smart Roadster are only seen in some direct sunlight. Switching applications may stop music playback or pause the video recording. It is not easy to get both running. It does work. The mount fits on the dash infront of the vent (some cars have a pair of gauges in that position) and connected to the earphone 3.5mm jack and USB-C. Connected to the radio via the aux input and powered from the lighter socket running a playlist, navigation and dashcam the mobile phones gets hot, very hot. It then switches of the camera to cool down but remains hot for a long time. The mobile phone dischargers faster than the charger can keep up from the lighter socket. After about 90 minutes the phone powers down.
If only I could find a dash cam like with similar features and excellent video quality and it is a dual cam for front and back. Please what will you recommend?
Yes! We need a 30/60 FPS model of this Dashcam model @ 1440P! And don't stop doing DashCam reviews. TechMoan is always the trusted and thourough Dashcam Review source on TH-cam!! :D
Phew... We got nervous when you said you might stop posting dash cam reviews, but judging by the vote there will be more! We want to send you a Greenlight SmartCradle. We know it's not your typical dash camera but we think it's a very cool alternative. Either way, thanks for posting these reviews, it's great to know who's doing it right and why.
I actually found your channel looking for dashcam reviews many months ago. As well, I have enjoyed the non-dashcam related videos ever since. I've been waiting for a decent camera with pretty much the specifications you were looking for. Thank you for the video and review. Top consideration for purchase, in my book.
A big thank you Mat. We installed our DDPai after this and the follow up video. Really great quality and excellent product thanks solely from this review! Cheers.
2023 and still going well after being in 4 cars, given to my son for a year, given back and is currently mounted looking out of the rear screen of my C-Max...with the original battery!
Definitely one of your best uploads to date and what a neat dashcam this is and works especially great in the park mode with the battery pack. Thanks ☺
Perhaps you could explain how you would travel somewhere, rent a car, and then use your own dashcam in that rental car. I take a dashcam with me that uses a suction cup mount for the windshield (do you say windscreen?) of the rental car.
At 8:28 you mention the tiny battery which lasts only long enough to save settings. My Black Box G1W-CB uses a capacitor for those functions but forgets the date/time if it is not powered on every 3-4 days (all other settings remain unaffected). Does the DDPai M6+ exhibit similar behavior? Does the Chinese app running on your phone raise any privacy concerns?
Keep doing the dash cams in and amongst your other stuff Matt. My ideal setup would be a 4 camera system all recording to a central box but the majority of the ones I have found so far are aimed at the professional market for trucks etc and have price tags to match. I have an old CCTV box I used in the house which is 12v dc, I had considered using an external HDD and then seeing how that would cope with being powered on and off. Enjoying the channel and ignore the minority.
So this requires a constant power source not a switched 12v source... you mentioned a battery pack, presumably this battery pack recharges from a switched source. Do you have video of this set up, if not can you make one? Cheers.
Why someone wouldn't want a review of a product they don't have to invest themselve?? Keep it coming :D EDIT: As long as it's a review (like any other videos you made so far) and not a sponsored video.
Great review, when this video first came out the UK link had sold 1 unit, now they have sold 83, I hope your getting some kind of kick back for this other than the affiliate link sponsorships, you deserve it.
Thats why im glad some of us sponsor you on patreon, you put so much time and effort in to your videos they are a cut above most other tech reviewers out there, we still use the mobius its been fantastic, I hadn't even heard of it before you mentioned it, please keep reviewing the dash cams though, they are a great tool to have in the car and can turn a 5 month insurance dispute in to a 5 minute one, worth every penny.
Yes the Patreon income is greatly appreciated and very useful....it's helped me to buy a few interesting things that I'll be showing over the coming months.
Isn't e-dog the remote? The overlay would be in the menu after. There's some sort of Chinese synonym or translation (or mistranslation..) where "dog" is often used for dongles, remotes or some other sort of addition. "Horse" sometimes gets used for the main control units too...
Thanks Techmoan for this review! Im getting my first car tomorrow and i live in Miami (The land of terrible drivers) and for sure i will have a dash cam ( This one to be exact) just in case of anything! Love your vids man!!
a polarizing filter in front of the lens might help the reflections at 13:30. And thanks for the review of the vantrue. I got one and the audio is pretty good.
Please keep doing dascham reviews. You're the best reviewer on youtube by far, and your insight would be sorely missed if you decided to cease making dashcam reviews. Don't listen to the naysayers.
At 2:30, you mention the reliability of the Mini 0806. I bought one on your say-so, and I'd like to mention that it didn't work right out of the box. It had two SD cards, and was supposed to fill one (up to 128GB) then switch to the other one. I bought two 64GB cards, but the switching did not work, and the manufacturers told me it was because the chip they used did not allow for it. The review did not spot that. A few weeks ago, it failed completely, and that's why I'm here looking for another cam.
NICE! No DON'T stop your dash cam reviews! I bought my V1000GS a few years ago based on your review! I like this camera however, as you need a 'smart' phone to set it up, it's NO good for me!
Thanks! Great review! If you hadn't done this one last dashcam review, I wouldn't have known about it. The magnetic attachment method and small size are what I've been looking for. Thank you again! God bless!
Do you want more dash cam reviews..or do you want them to stop? - Please vote here: goo.gl/c4ZhCc
I don't mind the topic of your Videos as long as they are videos
More dashcam videos please!
Don't stop. You're doing one of the best dashcam reviews on the internet. ...even if it is just a negativ review.
more
Keep them coming please!
Just to clarify
*This is my favourite dash cam and the one that I use* - as mentioned on my website, when I can afford it I intend to buy another two so that I can put one in my other car as well as use one for a rearview-camera in this car. Is it possible to buy the base plates separately? With the magnetic attachment it would be very easy to just pop it off and on from car to car.

True. I not only bought this dashcam now, I also own 3 wireless (batteryless) doorbells thanks to Techmoan. These doorbells are great 👍
They are...they tell me when more junk/gadgets have arrived.
Please don't stop making dash cam videos. this is what brought me to your site initially. I like your presentation of these and other devices.
I'll have a new one soon.
Being in the process of actully getting a dashcam, I truly enjoy your vids on the subject. They are, indeed, an excellent source of info on what to expect from a good one... Thanks for sharing!...

That voice sound thing is the most quirky and possibly annoying feature I've ever seen in a dashcam. LOL
A simple ding would suffice!
your videos are getting so good. Production value is excellent - B-roll, narrative, editing. Very enjoyable to watch. Keep up the great job.
Have you every looked at the BlackVue cameras? I know they are in the top price range but I have the 650GW and I think its the best one Iv every had. Oh and, I don't mind if you keep making the dash cam videos lol.
I looked at one a few years ago...the video quality back then wasn't good enough when the price of the equipment was taken into consideration.
Techmoan Yeah back then the BlackVue's did lack the quality but now they are up there with the best but... They are about £250 odd.
I'm concentrating more on sub £100 devices now...I get very little interest registered for any dashcam that costs more than this.
Techmoan That is very true, watching this video though, Im not sure why any dash cam should be priced over £100 if you can get this good of a camera for that price.
Personally, I love these reviews. Keep bringing them. If they don't like, they don't have to watch. I personally like to find out about the best ones!
I think having a camera that can see things in the night that you can't isn't a good idea as it may make it look like the pedestrians you ran over were clearly visible when they weren't.
They can say that but how can they prove it? Will the jury/judge believe them? How much weighting would they put on this?
Cam sees better then me at night- putting CPL filter will make night vid more realistic - Also footage Looks like U R going Faster - good reason to have GPS on-
Yes always always do more dash cam vids. I love seeing what is available and I love the way you review them. I bought my last one based on one of your vids. Thanks Mat-
I don't know why I'm watching this, I don't even have a car.
Typical BMW driver.
Tossers.
I saw a BMW the other day with the optional indicator pack fitted!!!
You mean it was actually indicating a helpful message to other drivers? Well, I never!
it was indeed. I had to have a lay down. It's been a life changing event for me, I'm looking toward the future with renewed optimism.
That part made me chuckle
your dashcam and sports cam reviews are why I watch you. Stick with what makes you popular.
Oh NO! not another well produced interesting and informative video in English. BORING!!!!! ;)
This man drove the width of the UK and back for this video, you can't tell me that the haters can't appreciate that!
For me at least, I think this is one of your best 'produced' videos yet. Excellent, thank you very much.
Forget the uninterested people!
New dashcams come out all the time and some of us love hearing your take on them.
(Mine is on it;s last legs, so I am looking for a replacement.)
Your my Go To reviewer for Action and Dash Cams ... Please do not stop
I think this is on my shopping list - superb camera and thanks to you yet again for a superb review helping us to decide on whats best to buy.
All your reviews are really professionally presented and interesting without coming across as biased. Keep up the dash cam reviews!
Reviewing things seems to come so naturally to you. Keep it up 👍
Far as I can see, I like this M6 Plus.
I specifically searched "techmoan dashcam review" to get here. Keep them coming!
Got mine from ebay and the seller even mentioned this video :)
Firmware is updated and it seems to work just fine with samsung s7, none of the problems some ppl have been getting.
Everything else is great.
nothing wrong with your dash cam reviews, keep doing them
KEEP UP DOING THE DASH CAM REVIEWS! I'm always looking for the best quality available!
I don't mind dash cam reviews, I usually just skip over them.
Love the random tech and hifi/audio stuff though!
@Techmoan the second announcement is "GPS定位成功" which is, roughly, "GPS positioning successful" just fyi
your reviews, both dashcam and otherwise, are fantastic. keep it up.
Your dashcam reviews are great, don't stop!
Had a good laugh when you revealed the park guard recordings were set off by a Subaru and Mitsubishi. The usual suspects ;) Great review as always, I will keep this camera in mind for my next purchase.
Your dashcam reviews are great, really comprehensive
I think these dashcam videos are great, please continue. They are very informative.
Thank you for taking the time to do such a thorough review. I'm definitely going to pick one of these up.
Dashcams have gotten much better over the years.
Good dash cam review... With real world applications and good advice... I've followed you for a while mate... Thanks again!
I chose this based on your review and I'm very happy with it so far. Thanks!
Don't let the butt holes dictate what you do. I like your dash cam videos. Keep them coming.
I want one! It's perfect with it's parking mode. Thanks for the great and detailed video.
Cheers.
8:47 sounds like the "Hello, Kugou" message when you start up the Kugou app
Why someone wouldn't want a review of a product they don't have to invest themselve?? Keep it coming :D
EDIT: As long as it's a review (like any other videos you made so far) and not a sponsored video.
I LOVE your dash cam reviews! Keep up the good work.
Great review, when this video first came out the UK link had sold 1 unit, now they have sold 83, I hope your getting some kind of kick back for this other than the affiliate link sponsorships, you deserve it.
It's just commission from affiliated links. I hope everyone is as happy with their new cameras as I am with mine.
That one seems to do it all. Please keep the Dash Cam videos as they are interesting.
Actually impressed with the quality just as cameras go!
God bless!
nice to see the hill leading down to the canal. Great to watch hgv's jammed under it! The bridge that is!
Please keep doing dashcam reviews. I love that stuff :)
