Mr Techmoan. I see your battery was stuck to the chip. This has caused catastrophic detaching of the chip over time rendering the camera "dead" in a few cases, my 1st Mobius2 included (See RC Forums thread post #902 for images). Apparently this happened to a batch of cameras during assembly by lazy employees finding it easier than sticking the pad to shell of the camera. (My second Mobius2 has the sticky pad on the shell, not the chip.
The violinist is a guy called Ed Alleyne Johnson...superb electric violin music. I saw him busking in Liverpool about 15 years ago and was so impressed I bought a cd off him.
Hi Mat. Great review. Based on you review of the Mobius 1, I purchased one and have never looked back. Nice to see you doing a review on the new Mobius. I do and I'm certain many of us do appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos. Keep up the great work. Thanks again !
The original mobius is still my fav dash cam. I love how discreet it is, I plug it in and forget that its there.....perfect. Thanks for doing a review on the follow up version!
The new intro was fantastic, had the same "something amazing about to happen" vibe while still being shiny and new. The video itself was fantastic, thorough and informative. The ending was amazingly funny, I had to watch it twice. Amazing work as always man. I have no use for a camera like this myself, but whenever someone needs help finding dash cams or other electronics that you have done reviews of, I am sure to introduce them to your channel. You have helped many make educated purchases around here! Cheers!
I have to say that the möbius footage is always excellent. I run two in my car as dash and and have played with the settings to get it right but they more than paid for themselves when recently someone crashed into me. For use on a motorbike I just larded Vaseline over it and did 1500miles round Scotland in some very testing weather. Not a problem. Good review sir.
I never cease to be amazed by these little cameras and the quality they turn out - I don't use them much, so they impress me all the more! I've just finished fitting one of those generic "700TVL" PAL cameras (£8) into the van so I can see out the side when reversing, along with a £15 TFT monitor. Pretty damn good picture quality.
The Mobius 2 is such a modest upgrade over Mobius 1, that it kind of emphasizes how good the Mobius 1 actually is for its age. It was a groundbreaking camera back in 2013 and still useful.
You are right. I was disapointed wen they told the Mobius2 will not provide at least 4K at 25 fps... Minimal improvement. I will keep My mobius 1 untill someting better will be released.
I've run the Möbius 1 up behind my rear view mirror for the past 3 years and have just recently hit a deer in the early morning hours. I have never changed the battery but have it plugged into my cigarette lighter. It exceeds my expectations. Thanks to Techmoan for helping me make the correct choice. I put my video of the car hitting the deer along with my profanity immediately afterwards on TH-cam If anyone is interested to view for quality and sound. I also have other videos with close calls during the day. It cannot be seen from outside the car or from the drivers side. Again, thank you Techmoan for the tests of the different dashcams.
When looking it up (because the Ebay links don't work any more), I noticed that the current version is the Mobius V3. Would you mind doing a video on that?
It's good to see that you have grown a large channel! I've been subscribed with my other account since you had only 50,000 subs, and now you're nearly at 500,000! In fact, you're the reason I am so dedicated to SJCAM!
Wasn't expecting to see my home city of Chester when I clicked on this video. Certainly wasn't expecting to see Purple Violin Dude! Glad he's still going.
Man, great looking video. I love your stuff and they are great for relaxing but, damn I can't help but notice the rapid improvements in video quality, your videos were superb before and now it is above that! Love your videos and you have done a great service to me.
That looks exactly like the lithium polymer battery pack from my latest small drone that I bought. It's pretty neat that they use the standard power lead connectors for most RC stuff as well, so hooking this into the power system of anything that flies, rolls or crawls should be a snap.
Nice review. I do love that brick wall background in your studio. 41 mbits is quite sizable even in the chubby h.264 codec. Should provide a very high quality, very usable image. Davinci Resolve can very quickly clean up that yellowing as well!
I have a quick little suggestion for you. If you were to take a 1/4-20 X 1/4"long flat head bolt and a fender washer (maybe 2 or 3 washers to get enough thickness to cover the tapered part of the flat head bolt) and sort of just leave them attached to the camera that would do several things. First, it would marginally improve the heat sink capacity. Second, it would give you a larger area to set it on and be more stable. Third and finally, you could get some neodymium disc magnets and mount it in lots of new places. As always love the channel and keep up the tech goodness.
never ceases to amaze me how professional your vids are. anyway.. i just came here to say, Runcam !... please send techmoan a runcam 3. hopefully this works and we get the full techmoan review on the runcam 3 for RC pilots.
Another excellent review, sir, cracking stuff. I am really enjoying your videos and the amount of effort you pay to quality and detail in making them, thank you for all the great entertainment!
7:20 You were in Bruges, yay! Was there a few years back, beautiful place. I remember going to a little market at that very bit, just on the road at the right.
Just got this camera to try as a zoomy gun camera using an aftermarket zoom lens for paintball. First impressions are looking good, just have to tweek a few things and it might just do the trick. Everything you said pretty much confirmed my experiences so far, actually surprised i sat through the entire vid, great job mate! Oh, fyi, they sell on Amazon now too.
Great review. IMPORTANT information about the video, it does look soft, but it is only here on YT, I downloaded the sample clips and the video is smooth and sharp, as it should be.
Thank you so much! When I heard him playing the first thing I thought was "That is freaking amazing, does this guy have any albums out and where can I buy them?"
First time I saw my fishing spots in one of your vids. (under the music building) Was looking for the mobius 2 but ill stick to the Yi for fpv footage. Thanks for the review!
Whoa!! I used to live there, Amsterdam. I've played concerts at the venue you recorded, muziekgebouw aan het ij. Went to school next door at CvA too. Small world
The new codec H.265 is amazing... Sooo much more crisp and clear. File sizes are smaller too. I just wish my current set-up could import those videos easily.
How did I missed this video? I was wondering when you will review Mobius 2. It was your Mobius (M1) review that convinced me to buy one and than I bought another one and I'm subscribed because of that review. Let see this review 3 years later, than - better now than never. :-) Fact it I searched the net to repurpose my mobius cameras for webcam since kids needs it for school daily and image is decent in comparison to "real" webcams.
these ending segments keep getting better :) also... nice camera... enjoyed the review as always. BTW I wanted to look back to one of your early videos when you were just starting on TH-cam. The cameras you reviewed were spectacularly crappy compared to this Mobius 2!!! But I couldn't find the videos anymore. Have you removed some?
Techmoan - I like your no-nonsensibilities... And please make more reviews and yes I am a retro-tech afficianado - I'm still looking for a sexy Reel-to-Real machine like that. And I am still learning to use my minidisk recorder.
Hi Techmoan, one question: where can I buy a replacement lens for my Mobius Mark 1 camera? Tried to look around, to no avail. I blew mine with a stupid manipulation (too embarrassing to explain) but I don't want to buy a new camera altogether. Thanks again for your valuable advice. Ragamuffin
I like to watch techmoan videos not only for the content, it's also because of how good his narration is.
Techmoan - "Come for the tech, stay for the muppets."
I want a tech review of the muppets !!!

Techmoan Yay, love these!
hey techmoan what is that green laptop the puppet uses during the outro?
Great thorough and technical review.
Usually I enjoy your reviews, but I found this one a bit... ONE SIDED
You know, MOBIUS.
ONE SIDED.
Oh I give up...
Thumbs up for telling us it was a joke :D
Two thumbs UP for knowing what a "Mobius" is.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I really like your jacket.

Pretty cool to see him here randomly, and great musician indeed.
A BMW that close to the back of your car? unheard of!
Aaron Nebbs bimmers gotta bim.
That's because if he didn't move from the junction that would be £70 penalty.
I was surprised he used his blinker lol
what are you talking about. you are driving on his road. he makes the rules. lol
Aaron Nebbs Don’t diss a BMW driver! They get very defensive! Mostly shit drivers though.

OMG you were in Amsterdam!!! Greetings from the Netherlands :)
Love the new intro!
SpeedySPCFan I was caught off guard because it seemed like he didn't have the intro before this one for too long at all.
I preferred the reel to reel intro
OLD intro better man
urdnal This is the oscilloscope one, just displayed full screen.
The original mobius is still my fav dash cam. I love how discreet it is, I plug it in and forget that its there.....perfect. Thanks for doing a review on the follow up version!
You're the best and most thorough and least boring techies posting, Another thumb up video for 100% of the time. Bravo.
He's stepped up his game with that intro

Agreed. I kept watching hoping to see something worth getting excited for, but not much has changed.
there's a mini mobius out now
You are right. I was disapointed wen they told the Mobius2 will not provide at least 4K at 25 fps... Minimal improvement. I will keep My mobius 1 untill someting better will be released.
yeah but that''s a real hot burner... not suitable for car dvr... so sad.
The mini version does 1920 x 1440 plus these new cameras dont go dark in bright light.
Now that is a dapper outfit you have on.
miss your old reeltape intro- new one is like a million others.
please bring it back:-)
great intuitive and detailed vid and entertaining as always!

The service from the manufacturer is superb! I had a problem with one of mine, not focusing correct, and they sendt me a new lence for free!
The new intro is absolutely amazing! Had to go watch it a second time.
When looking it up (because the Ebay links don't work any more), I noticed that the current version is the Mobius V3. Would you mind doing a video on that?
Saw a few familiar scene there :) I hope you enjoyed your time over here. Great video, as always

Hey you were in Amsterdam.. hope you had a good time..
Nobody has a good time in miserable Amsterdam.
Well clearly you dont know what a good time is :)
BoloYung had a bad trip? Bought the wrong drugs? Got robbed? Didn't get a f*ck at the red light district? What happend BoloYung?
Sander Nieuwenhuizen
No, it's just like a wise man once said, "the only good thing in Amsterdam is the train to Eindhoven".
hey BoloYung youre frigging hilarious, was the wise man called Willy van de Kerkhof?
Good to see another cab cam video, I have missed your recommendations 👍🏻
"I'm off to the parcour with Alan, he wants to try out his new hip" Near coffee on monitor moment! :-)
Wasn't expecting to see my home city of Chester when I clicked on this video. Certainly wasn't expecting to see Purple Violin Dude! Glad he's still going.
Just wanted to say that I have been enjoying your videos and commentary for years. I don't "hit like" support you enough, I just forget. Cheers.
Good to see Ed still busking his violin! I've not been home in ages. :(
Finaly the intro that I want to keep seeing! Smooth futuretro. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

That lens just needs a sinister red glow behind it and it'd be perfect... :)

Right in the beginning :D when talking about the tripod mount
Chip.
Same thing
"I duct taped the camera to my cat" :-/
...oh hang on, he said "cap" ;-)
Nice to see a bit of Ed Alleyne-Johnson on his electric violin in Chester. Great street busker.
Nice Smart Roadster :) I love these, drove them on the Nurburgring. Shame we can't get them in the US :(
New Techmoan action cam video! It's like Christmas again.
7:20 You were in Bruges, yay! Was there a few years back, beautiful place. I remember going to a little market at that very bit, just on the road at the right.
The new intro is amazing. Love it.
My home town! Nice to see a bit of Chester... Wait, wasn't it? _(The violin, busker guy and Christmas lights.)_
Another great video. I hope you are getting a healthy % I plan on buying a Mobius in the near future because of your videos.
Just got this camera to try as a zoomy gun camera using an aftermarket zoom lens for paintball. First impressions are looking good, just have to tweek a few things and it might just do the trick.

Nice to see some shots of Chester (where I live!) and Liverpool as well as the usual Manchester :)
When I saw all those bikes I knew immediately which country you were in.
Hey look I'm early. Nice intro revamp
What about the Mobius Mini from the same manufacturer ?
Do you have an opinion on that ?
Ooh, I like the new video intro format!
like the improved changes, channel is more professional now :)
Great review! Thanks to it, I'll be buying this camera now! :)
Excellent video as always - totally forgot about the Mobius, let alone a second one!
413 THOUSAND SUBSCRIBERS! WELL DONE
- Greetings from Denmark
I want to know more about the guy playing in the video. That was very nice.
He is Ed Alleyne-Johnson. He has a few albums out, too!
Thank You! I'll check it out.
Thank you so much!
When I heard him playing the first thing I thought was "That is freaking amazing, does this guy have any albums out and where can I buy them?"
Visiting Denmark. Awesome! Hope you had a great time. :)
@Techmoan what kind of head-up display did you have at 7:28 ? WIll you do a separate video about it soon?
looks like you had a fun trip to Tivoli Gardens!
Wow! love the new intro!
Great review, as ever, "great review".
Can we please have a video of Alan's parkour exploits?
Finally more cam videos! You should take a look at the EKEN series.
Did you enjoy your trips to Liverpool and chester @8:50 ish?
The violin guy in chester is always great
First time I saw my fishing spots in one of your vids. (under the music building) Was looking for the mobius 2 but ill stick to the Yi for fpv footage. Thanks for the review!
I can see you visited Copenhagen (Tivoli). Did you go see the huge mechanical clock in the town hall just next to Tivoli I once wrote to you about?
the date on circuit boards is generally the date when that specific layout was designed, not necessarily when it was assembled.
Love the new techmoan animation. Vector graph, very clever
thank you for creating these!

I swear the intros get better every video.
Hey, you were in my home town during christmas. I was in Newcastle at that time :)
Hey +Techmoan, that HUD-thingie that's in the shot where you drive your car, where did you get that? (At 7:27)
How did I missed this video? I was wondering when you will review Mobius 2. It was your Mobius (M1) review that convinced me to buy one and than I bought another one and I'm subscribed because of that review. Let see this review 3 years later, than - better now than never. :-)

Great review as always. Cheers
Thank you! I've been looking for a budget action camera. I can definitely get 3 of these instead of 1 gopro
I didnt know you guys had Costco over in the UK! Love that place
Is this discontinued for some reason? is there a better version around? I can't find it on eletoponline365 on ebay
No longer supported by the maker. It’s a shame, too. Great little camera. I just wish they installed a super capacitor for us folks in Texas.
these ending segments keep getting better :)
also... nice camera... enjoyed the review as always.
BTW I wanted to look back to one of your early videos when you were just starting on TH-cam. The cameras you reviewed were spectacularly crappy compared to this Mobius 2!!! But I couldn't find the videos anymore. Have you removed some?
Nice to see Ed Alleyne Johnson busking with his electric violin :D
Getting creative with the intros; nice.
Now we are waiting for a Muppets Intro!
Let's start a movement to request at least one Muppet opening :-)
the written config file seems to have more options available to change then what the winapp does , most simple boolean so thats good
I am waiting for a Sony FDR X3000 review from you for like half a year :( You did such awesome reviews of the previous Sony Action Cams.
Yay, you're back sir
Holy Shit. The expression on his face after she called him that name! Lmfao...
Techmoan - I like your no-nonsensibilities... And please make more reviews and yes I am a retro-tech afficianado - I'm still looking for a sexy Reel-to-Real machine like that. And I am still learning to use my minidisk recorder.
love the new intro!
Can you review “rexing v1p” dash cam. I need a two channel dash cam and thinking of the rexing v1p but couldn’t find any informative reviews for it.
Ragamuffin
