Fender risers and better off road tires are indeed an absolute must on the Himalayan if you plan to spend any time in the dirt. Both make a world of difference.
sweet! im thinking alot to buy the himalayan when the summer is back in norway. and also I think it so nice to see a woman and not just old dudes on adv bike all the time. hope you can inspire more women to join the adventur travels!!
Hi! Did nearly the same modifikations. You talked about offroad riding so i'd highly recommend the rear mudguard offered also by Hitchcok. I also can recommend pivot pegs, they really are an improvement. Additional I mounted ceramic brake pads. Greetings and save riding!😉
@@OpenRoads yeah, grip wise they are really good and it's pretty understandable that anything with good grip is made of softer compound that wear off faster. And I gotta say, that mount which came with the wind visor is blowing my mind. I have never seen anything like it before. Great place to provide a mount. I gotta introduce this idea among bikers out here in my place 😀. What's your name bdw?
Yeah it’s great! Only thing is that lately my GoPro Mount and phone have been too heavy for it and the screw has started to come loose. Will need to add a bit of glue to keep it in place. I’m Jess! I’m the owner of OpenRoads and the person you see loads on here 😄
Very interesting video ! I'm a fresh new owner of a Himalayan and I would like to see more content like this ! Like maintenance, cleaning, tips ... Great work, thanks ! 🔥🔥
So firstly thanks for a great informative video 👍 iv just bought a 2021 Euro 4 same colour pick it up this Saturday 🥳😊 when I test rode it the wind noise was awful with the original screen 🥴 so the guy said I’ll take it off and now go and ride it again…. What a difference it transferred the ride so what sort of difference does that extra 6 cm on that screen really make I’m 6ft 🤔
Hi, Thank you for info on aftermarket accessories. Can you able to provide windshield accessory link. I really like that and want to Install on my Himalayan
Every adventure rider we've been watching for years has driven the Royal Enfield Himalayan, up into the mountains of Northern India and Nepal, since it's introduction, and with superior success compared to other bikes so, am wondering, why did you and Andy ride anything else up into the mountains, last year? Also, when I recently had new tires replace the old cracked sidewall factory tires on my Suzuki C50T touring bike, my friends who grew up in China told me Not-To let the local powersports shop put made in China, Shinko tires on my bike. I ultimately chose Metzeler ME888 Ultra, designed in Germany; manufactured in South Korea. I agree, the multi-design knobbies offer more stability offroad. Please, let us know, how well the Shinko off road tires you chose for your Himalayan perform. ...... PS: Thanks so very much for sharing your 2019 friends adventure ride with us. My now late partner, Carol Ann and I created so many treasured/precious memories of our adventures together, I am inspired to continue with the plans we had to travel on our bike soon as weather breaks in Spring.
I love my Shinko tyres they are so good. They make a slight high pitched noise at high speed on the highway but they handle algae covered rocks with ease. I will report back with how long they last. Andy was hell bent on getting the classic bikes. I did mention to him that we should take CrossFires (Himalayans at the time were not available to hire because they were so new and too expensive to import into Nepal). But in the spirit of the classic road trip we decided to go for the classics - big mistake haha! Honestly, even the Himalayan is perfect for Upper Mustang, Nepal. Dirt bikes are the only thing that will allow you to get the torque needed at such a high altitude. But they are a sick bike, and they do do the job pretty well!
I have the GIVI protection (TN9050) installed on my Himalayan. The left part protrudes and continuously hits the left ankle. I have contacted the manufacturer, sent photos, and explained the problem. They have treated me correctly, but they tell me that the protection is designed that way. Other users have the same problem.

Hi, great video for the himalayan, do you mind telling me what sizes you used for the tyres, i think i will purchase some for my himalayan. Thanks a million
I always wanted that windshield, but it cost 72 pounds which is Rs7,500 which is dam expensive for a windshield and i cant afford that at this moment. I wish some one from india can pick it up this model and do at a reasonable cost.
Actually, she is about as tall as the average Indian man. I am maybe 2-3 inches taller than her and even with a street helmet I get some really intense buffeting from the screen whenever I test ride a Himalayan at a dealer. The stock screen is bad for the average Indian rider. My friends who own Himalayans and have had trouble with the screen are 5'11" and 6'1". They, like many Indian owners, have removed the screen altogether to fix this issue. Therefore, the Himalayan needs to have a taller screen or just a tiny one that extends only an inch above the instrument panel in *all* markets.
@@twowheeledparadox average Indian man is 5ft 6 according to national stats. I know it varies greatly Punjabi are tall and the NE men are normally only about 5ft 3.
@@corychartier7961 Yes, average heights do vary by state. My point still stands, though. You have to be pretty short to be able to use the windscreen's protection. Shorter than the average Indian man. Personally, I would remove or chop the stock screen to get around the buffeting issue. It makes a huge difference.

Absolutely loving those tyres.
They are great aren’t they. They are the best duel purpose I’ve used on the himi so far aside from Dunlop 606 (but those degrade really fast!)

I removed the top front guard and used its spacers to raise the bottom guard 22mm. Cheap fix.
Yep thats a good idea! The top guard is only for aesthetics, doesn't really do all that much.

worthy information
Where can I find those foot pegs? I can't seem to find ones that simply bolt on top of the OEM pegs..
I will machine some fender spacers on my Lathe.
💪💪
What tire sizes did you use? I'm not sure what the correct tire sizes are in inches.
How's the higher screen, is it better than the stock one?
@OpenRoads did the windshield worked?
Useful video 👍👍
