The whole video is full of great information so watch it all but I hope.this helps for finding specific information. Thanks so much MM.
@ about 22:00 in. Blessed Triptych, the last word is pronounced 'trip-tick'. Easier than it looks once you hear it said. (All credit to my college Art History professors for teaching me that useless fact years ago.)
It's a holy three panelled image with a larger center panel and two smaller side panels, or in the official model's case the statue and two candles. It's basically a Holy comic strip.
Highland Miniatures have some nice "Bret" models, maybe characters as well
Monstrous encounters is the one I believe Steve is talking about.
highland doesn’t fit the 5th ed look. Though they are quite nice
I think it kinda makes sense that the knights errant can't take the errantry banner. They already have impetious.
Though that makes me wonder, put that on the BSB, give him the extra charge range and imperious honor, and then stick him in a unit of knights errant.
I really enjoyed your Bretonia Vs tomb kings battle! Please more of that!
You kept me ticking over with battle reports when mention of square bases had to be hushed in a Games Workshop store, thank you Steve. Glad to see rank and flank is getting love from GW again.
Don't the Khemri Skeletons (and I bet the Tomb Guard as well) have "flammable" rule?
A solid review. I do think the Magic weapon with one or two hand options has some legs. Getting charged by heavy Cav? Kill some of them before they can strike you/your unit. After that? Swing with both hands.
Glad to see that not all the virtues/magic items are amazing. I personally like taking not so great options just to see how things shake out or to try and make them work. Sure, might not win. But might get a laugh out of it.
You and Dr. Luke Blaxill are the best youtubers for Warhammer fantasy and info on the game. I wonder what he will think of the new rule?
I am very sad he didn’t get the rules early
Oh that is not cool! I thought they would at least send him the rules. :(@@constantinekorkousky3363
Awesome as always. Can’t wait for more.
Really want them to rerelease the Green Knight. Would like two copies of him.
Old copies still selling for $100+ for what should be a $60 character
I'm 95% sure they will and I'll definitely get one even though I don't currently collect Bretonnia, it's such an awesome miniature.
This comment made me smile widely, sitting here with my lead Green Knight from the 90s in front of me.
Flaming attacks are good against a lot of regeneration, trolls, undead, trees, a lot of them have flammable
I am partial to the old VoH build for the Bretonnian Lord on Pegasus, though not sure how prevalent Monsters will be in my local Meta.
I think if you painted 8 Pegasus Knights you'd be in a good spot.
I think a Flying Circus of a Duke on hippogryph, Prophetess on pegasus, Paladin on pegasus with 2 good sized units of pegasus knights and a small one might have some legs this edition now that characters can join flying units and cant be knocked off their mount.
I hope all armioes will be of similar power level as Khemri and thise. In comparison to 8th O&G they seem stupidly powerful :).
great report, always loved the models.
Rules question (I have French books so I don't know if it's properly addressed in english ones) :
The "rank bonus" rule from the Lance formation is unclear. I read (translation in english by me) "a unit in Lance Formation can receive a +1 rank bonus for each rank containing enough models according their troop type" (page 110 Forces of Fantasy). Does this rule supersedes the maximum rank bonus limit from heavy cavalry (which is 1) ?
Because it's clearly a different wording from the "rank bonus" rule found in the "closed order" rule (page 101 of BTB) which states "if the unit is large enough, it can receive a +1 rank bonus for each rank beyond the first, up to the maximum according to their troop type".
If I'm right, 10 knights in lance formation have a +1 rank bonus, 15 knights have a +2 rank bonus, 21 knights have +3 (starting to get really cumbersome).
It would match the ** mentioned page 105 of BTB, stating that maximum bonus rank can be increased by special rules.
you got it. 10 knights would get 1 rank bonus in lance formation
What do you mean Bretonnia hasn't had a Duke character before? I have the old metal Bretonnian Duke on Hypogryph model; it was the first Warhammer model I ever bought lol. Both Dukes and Barons existed in previous editions.
I think i got a mounted Duke with a 2-handed battleaxe
@@spacebb I always enjoyed that model, but since I had the Hypogryph Duke and a couple Paladins, I never got him.
Looking forward to these
I PRAY and PRAY AGAIN that the game doesn't suffer the "no one cares Horus Heresy" effect and gets played a lot - especially in my area. ) Wanted to get into WAP when you started playing that on your channel but couldn't find anyone to play it.
I want to start Bretonnia cause I love knights and unfortunately they were scratched from AoS long ago (I didn't knew Warhammer when Fantasy was still around). I would just pick them anyway, even if they wouldn't be good :)
I viewed your magic video first and I agree that all Lores seem to be good and Bretonnians have good choices with solid casters there. As stated before I love knights and I like the idea that they don't fall apart if peasants panic - while giving the peasants a substantial moral boost. I think the Pegasi are very good units for their mobility.
Can't wait to get my hands on the game. Thank you for your videos - also, joined :3
I don't get the benefit of wedge formation. Does it limit incoming attacks, by, reducing base to base contact? The unit counts fighting in base to base, but that does not mean they do. Hope this makes sense 😊
You can have more models attacking in wedge
That does not seem to work out though. A 5 rank knight brick is like a wedge of 6, fights with 5. The only way it is good then would be in squads of 10?
Its pretty good for vision since the models on the side of the back rank can see too
The unit is also slimmer, which is good for deployement, movement and not blocking the line of sight of your own units
I think the mounts armour is for when the character's magical armour gets destroyed by magic
I am wondering if any one can help me clarify, whether I can take both a Heartwood Lance (magical weapon) and a regular morningstar (non magical weapon), for my character. Resorting to the morningstar in consecutive rounds of combat post-charge, or in the case of being charged. Or does a magical weapon prohibit you from having one of the three weapons options available to Dukes/Barons? (and whether the phrasing for a morningstar makes its strength bonus forfeit in combats where you charged, since it says the "Strength modifier applies only during the first round of combat.)
Here i am split between getting 3dprint questing knights or wait for greatswords to return with the empire line for conversions.
I'm wondering about the Pegasus knights, is there going to be a need to give them command or to have a bigger squad of 6?
What size lances do you feel are optimal for damahe output?
Hey Steve non rules question. Does the Bretonnia box have the old transfers in it as well? From the website it doesn’t look like it but wondering if I need to hunt for some
no just the new ones
just getting to this review, im going to run foot knights with both shields and great weapons, i like the extra save against shooting, and i can choose to use hand weapon and shield instead of the great weapons if i need to be more survivable, or use the great weapons if i get the charge
Sorry to ask, but does anyone know if the giving ground rule, will count towards losing the blessing of the lady? Also the heavy armor on hippogriff makes me think that they may have royal hippogriff knights in the works but might be waiting for a later release or seeing if the sales or there to keep making new models for the game.
I remember, that some youtuber, Great book of Grudges I think, said, that giving ground does not count to losing the blessing.
Call me crazy, and can tell empire is my other favorite army, but I plan on running my KotR on foot with great weapon and shield with a damsel for the -2 to casting vs them. Here’s the kicker, I’m gonna run them in a 10x4 brick. Expensive but will have some nice defensive buffs. 4+ armor, varying ward save plus the damsel.
Two videos in a day, damn. How fast are these coming out?
For my mounted and foot seargents I'm using the fireforge forgotten world human miniatures range
I was thinking of using a steelhelm for my sargent at arms
I don't know how useful it would be but i definitely see myself sticking a Paladin with great weapon and virtue of Heroism into a unit of knights of the realm on foot and just park them near a block of men at arms waiting for an enemy unit to get into charge range
For the Lady!
how do i get 2+ armor for bret chars without magic items?
Beguiling aura as you read it says enemy MODELS must take a Ld test before rolling to hit. Meaning a seperate Ld test for every individual model trying to make an attack not the unit as a whole. is that correct?
ANy idea on the squire stl you mentioned?
When will next instalments be on YT? I am wating for O&G :)
So I heard in one video that bretonnia can take extra units from the boarder princes like a cannon and a unit mixed with empire and bretonnia soldiers. Can these be taken all the time or only in certain scenarios
It's in their Armies of Infamy section from their Arcane Journal.
@@HeavyD6so could I take a cannon with any army set up or just for certain camping scenarios
It's like a separate army list of it's own.@@jmiklos21 It's basically exiled Knights. You can take certain models but not others.
Love the tee
Weird, in the latest GW batrep they used flaming arrows to prevent regen for Skeleton Chariots
Yeah cos I’m pretty sure that’s the rule.
Chariots are flammable
The best Bretonia alternative STLs are lastsword's
You could use the 5th ed metal Men-at-Arms comman's champion for the sergeant hero character, would fit well. GW did rerelease the awesome Alan Perry mounted squires but of course sold out, they will restock.
EDIT: Ah, you were talking about the squires on foot, no info on those but hopefully they’ll rerelease the 5th ed models for them.
I'm curious if the lore is more 5th edition "romantic" or 6th edition "Grim Dark"
I'll just use historical models for mine. Deus Vult.
At 9:55 I’ve had 4 ad breaks not including the one at the start of the video. Kinda bonkers.
Another at 12:45. One 45 second one minute
KOR of foot will be in the trash bin
I just don't see a point to put foot knights in the table. Wouldn't it better to just take grail pilgrims with a reliquae?
For ze lady
Is the green knight still playable?
yes sir! I’ll get him on the table soon
I think you mispronounced "tree bucket"😂
Awesome work, I would go insane talking to myself like this
Men-at-arms are 4 points with a shield, light armor and polearm? If they left all that and went out onto the field with just a hand weapon the dirty peasants would be worth 0 points each ;p
You, Sir, sound like a true noble Bretonnian!
For Algorythmo!
Waiting patiently for Vampire Counts ;)
So let me get this straight….for 5pts the peasant infantry get strength in numbers, hoard, shield wall, light armour, shields AND pole arms? Sounds waaaay too much for such a cheap cost…..oh yeah I forgot they can use knights LD too…….oh yeah I forgot again you can’t capture their standard 🤦🏻♂️
None of those are particularly strong and they have an absolute dog base Stateline.
They've only got ws 2. They're getting beat every combat.
@@christopherflanagan9626 they can, just not when they charge.
HONHONHONHONHONHON
Cant wait to play Bretonnia with my Skaven army………oh wait 🤦🏻♂️
Pronunciation tip: it's tree-buck-et, not tre-boo-shay
I don't like waiting, when can we get the DE rules,
Most likely on the release day of the Old Word (Jan 20th).
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
