@@keithcheese8157 good on you. Was a busy day that day! Lots of Leica buzz in the air drawing in all kinds of photographers! Hope you enjoyed the video! J
The Terry O’Neill MP is amazing! I know there are two of them in Kitamura in Shinjuku (number 25 and other one unknown). I wonder where the other 32 ended up.
Superb! I had the guided tour from Ivor the last time I was in London. A quick visit to RDC to buy a lens turned into an afternoons education about all things Leica! It was like a living version of Red Dot’s Leica Pocket Guide book 😂
@@EarlofGray very good reference! Glad I got to join you as one of the people that has had the tour! Some incredible pieces in there. Glad you enjoyed the video. J
Thanks Ian, he will appreciate that and I'll be sure to pass it on. Out of interest, if you could have any camera and lens from what you saw which would they be?
@@jamie.dop_ That is a very difficult question to answer, would I go for a very rare one or one owned and used by a celebrity or famous photographer? If I have to pick one from Ivor's collection it would probably be the Black Paint M3. I do have a small collection of cameras but none of them are likely to be of interest to anyone else. I do like to be able to use my cameras - albeit rarely in these days of ease of the use of digital cameras and processing. My personal favourite is my Leica IIIf with a Summarit f1.5 50mm lens and an Elmar f3.5 50mm lens, all from the year I was born.
I have a similar problem as my wife calls it. I buy and sell collectable vinyl records. As they come in to get ready to be sold a couple always end up going into my collection. Up to almost 10,000 now in the "collection". And remember, it's not hoarding if it's organized and you know what you have! 😁
@@davidkipperman5218 what a great thing to collect! I would love to see that! Must be a lot of fun organising that too! I’m hunting for a good vinyl player at the moment. Got some golden vinyls ready to be dusted off! Thanks for the message. J
Very interesting piece Jamie. I love the opportunity to talk to Ivor when I go into RDC - he’s fascinating. Well done in getting access to this treasure trove.
Treasure indeed! Yeah he is a top bloke and very generous with his time and knowledge. I ask you now... if you could have any camera and lens from what you saw which would they be?
It might interest someone but I have the very Leica M8 and 90mmF2 APO which was given to Audrey Tautou and used in the Chanel Advert Circa 2011. Jean Pierre Jeunet directed this advert along with two other films Amelie and A very Long Engagement starring Audrey. About halfway into the 2.5minute advert Audrey can be seen using the camera. There are some pictures of her walking through an airport with it and she is well known to be a Leica Aficionado I don't know if it makes it more valuable but I acquired it through my dealings with Leica London Mayfair. I might donate it to a museum or something.
@@nelsonclub7722 that’s a class story and background of a camera. Doesn’t always mean a lot to everyone but it’s certainly interesting to hear. Thanks for sharing that. J
@@huni1984 so do I! Love that lens beyond all others really. I guess he didn’t talk about it because it isn’t very rare and they are easy to come by. All stuff he mentioned had a unique story, was rare or maybe items that had been personalised. I still haven’t used the 75 Noctilux but that would be high up on my list!
Damn what a collection! Thank you very much to Ivor and you for making this video and sharing it! This collection looks crazy and awesome at the same time! Truely for Leica nerds! Although I'm in the Leica topic I didn't know even 1% about the knowledge Ivor shared. Really amazing! And what kind of photography does he do? Great job as always on the video and would love to see more of Red Dot Cameras ... I would visit them every week, if I were in London :D

@@jamie.dop_ By the way, at at 8:56 the gentleman was correct. Leica did indeed have an APS-C format, but in film. It was a smaller format than 35mm, using APS-C cassettes. However, it was short-lived and eventually became obsolete with the rise of digital. As for my favourite, it has to be the Leica I(A) with the Elmax lens. Such a remarkable piece of history!
What a beautiful collection.
