Yep agree. The M11 and the 35mm Summilux FLE Close Focus is the core of my Leica kit and my most used combo.

I have the previous version of the Summilux-M 35 FLE. It’s a superb lens, but I would like it to have closer-focusing capability on it, which I have on my APO- Summicron-M 35 and Summilux-M 50 lenses.
I might just put the 35 FLE I on my M6 TTL and get an FLE II for my digital Leicas (CL, M11 Monochrom, SL2, and SL3).

I liked your video. I’m considering adding a 50mm lenses and have been thinking about the Summicron versus the Summilux. I do want the extra stop and I hadn’t considered how the close focus can make a more dramatic photo. I shoot with an m10 and 35mm close focus Lux as my only lenses. I am an amateur, passionate about taking interesting photos. I just subscribed to your channel. I too would enjoy a video on the red dot equipment. Thanks again.

@@richa2495 another person with an M and 35 lux close focus! Amazing. Lucky man. I do really love the Noctilux however they are big, heavy and £££. The Summicron is amazing and I don’t know if the standard 50lux is worth the bump in cost but the close focus really is game changer if you like taking portraits or shooting through materials or objects. Where are you based? Best to try in a store rather than judge off others videos if you can and test some out! Let me know how you get on :)

I currently have 23 M lenses (21 Leica and 2 Voigtländer), 5 LTM lenses (4 Leica + 1 Nikon, all w/LTM to M adapters), and 5 Leica R lenses (w/ R to M adapter). I love the Lux-M 35 FLE I, but after getting the close focusing versions of the APO-Summicron-M 35 and Summilux-M 50, I really want the close-focusing version of the Lux-M 35 FLE II. I’ll eventually get one, and will use the FLE I on an M6 TTL film camera where close-focusing would be pure guesswork.

@@jamie.dop_ My pleasure. I enjoy folks like you who describe the characteristics of lenses (photography isn’t just about getting top image quality).
I currently have 6 Leica-M compatible 50 mm M lenses (Noctilux-M f/1.0 ASPH, Noctilux-M f/1.2 ASPH re-issue, Summilux-M ASPH II, Summicron-LTM v.1 collapsible, Summarit f/2.4, and Voigtländer Heliar f/3.5 nickel collapsible). I might pickup a Summicron-R 50 next week and next year I want to purchase two Summicron-M lenses (probably a v.5 and the APO if it gets the close focusing capability) and a Noctilux-M f/0.95. I have the Noctilux-M 75 mm f/1.25, and find it to be a real stunner and sufficiently different from my Voigtländer Nokton 75 mm f/1.5 (they’re both keepers).

Another excellent video Jamie and love the conversation with Alex from Red Dot Camera!
As someone already suggested would also love such a video for other focal length such as 28mm and 35mm.
Also, not sure, if you have saw Gajan Balan latest video about vintage glas, but since Red Dot Camera has great access to these lenses, why not pick some of your favourites, do some test shots and also talk about it? :)
And ... hell yeah to the full tour of Red Dot Camera!!!
Btw still wonder about your good iPhone audio quality e.g. also in this video at the end :P :D - Do you just hold the phone up or is there an external mic?
