    Cool. There are also other industries. Agriculture - you can "scan" the field and evaluate it's health. Insurance - you can map and assess a damaged area (yes, even crops) and deliver a visual report to the insurance companies. Environment - you can document an environmental disaster, you can assess a danger before the disaster strikes, like oil leaks, toxic ponds, methane leaks (here you need thermal camera). Forests - you may be asked to look for a suitable terrain for forestation or you can map an ongoing logging area in steep and not so easily accessible places.

    This is awesome! I just passed my 107 and bought a DJI mini. My itentions was to just have fun with it without getting in trouble with the FAA, but cool to see you can make a living out of it!

      Happy studying! Not sure if you're using a course to prep, but make sure you go over the new Remote ID, Operations over People, and Flying at Night practice questions...the FAA has updated their exam in the last several weeks and most test prep resources are not up-to-date.

    I’m looking to become a drone pilot, may I ask what drone you would recommend for a beginner? I’ve flown a drone before during a drone building/flying class but the drone we built was extremely hard to fly (it took me 2 days to just get it off the ground without crashing into the ceiling) I’m scared to buy the expensive drones and not being good enough yet to fly it and breaking it..

      More expensive drones like the Autel or DJI drones have automatic stabilization in winds depending on which drone you have. Plus, they have multiple sensors all around on every surface of the drone to let you know if you are near the ground or a ceiling or walls. A really good drone is either the autel nano or the DJI mini 3 pro. I've used both and they are both very good drones.

    • @uavcoach

      Thanks for the comment, Tom. Tough question and a lot of factors at play - the pilot's hardware/sensor/software experience, existing background/career, local geography, network, etc. Most newer drone pilots will start out with smaller projects like one-off real estate or small business marketing gigs. Those that make more $ tend to swim upstream, working with larger companies on larger projects, like mapping a series of development sites, or construction site progress monitoring as two examples.

    Telecom and Energy companies have tons of capital, why wouldn't they have their own drone pilots on staff and equipment set ups already owned?

    • @uavcoach
      @uavcoach  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes they do, but many times it's easier to outsource the work to a third-party vendor. Depends on the company, of course.

    • @uavcoach

      I'm not worried in the short-term. Lots of opportunities for humans to help facilitate the use of drone technology. The role of the pilot will change over time as the technology gets more sophisticated.

    When you say "bee hives" I think you mean "Wasp Nests" - honey bee hives are domesticated hives (for the most part) but wasp nest are often on buildings and unlike honey bees, wasp sting and bite without or very little provocation. I'm a bee keeper and you threw me off when you mentioned "bee hives" as a environmental hazard, my dogs sleep next to my hives and I sit in a chair about 8 ft away and have never had an issue.
