Just saw this video yesterday, and watched a bunch of your inspiring videos since. I have a 997 and want to add a 993 to my (world’s smallest collection) but I have been strongly considering a 964 or 930 so, I’m very interested in what you’re doing. Also, your presentation skills are great and the honesty shines through! Keep doing it! 👍. I’m subscribed with the bell! 🙂
I was getting ready for you to say at least $10k for the whole repair so honestly I think that was a good deal on your end. Adding in just 2 more grand to have the engine out with a lot of refresh parts is definitely worth doing. Your car looks and sounds great! Lots of folks are fearing that our 911 will go down in price in the midst of this crisis but it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm keeping mine forever and handing it down to my son when I'm too old to drive it.
I think it’s a safe bet that values will fall. While I’m not a pro analyst or anything, it only makes sense. That said, the values are largely irrelevant to me. I’ll be keeping my 993 and the 3.2 for a long time to come so not really concerned. As always, thanks for watching. 👍🏼

Hi! I own 1996 C2 since over 4 yrs now and my car has been neglected to the stage that my bills over time exceeds yours 4 times already. New clutch, new exhaust, new suspension, brakes and lots of other minor repairs modifications and regular maintenance. Worth every penny tough. The car drives beautifully and I enjoy every minute of it. Best wishes from Poland
Ha! This is why I do 90% of the maintenance myself. Wait until you have to change the two ballast resistors on either side of the front fenders, HVAC and oil cooler. BTW, if it's a true 1995 (pre obdii) a rusted, crappy SAI valve will NOT trigger a CEL. My 993 is a 1996 and I change that little bugger every 30,000 miles. Tip from me: coat every rubber gasket, or o-ring, with Moly 111, e.g. during oil/filter changes, valve cover gaskets, etc. Also, once a week, peruse fleabay for parts that have come off old stock or old 993's. For instance relays are very expensive! And stop pressing the trip-button below the odometer. There's a tiny planetary gear in the speedo that will ruin your day.
It costs me $xxK three times the amount for my 911 964 Carrera 2 engine repair. I will post it soon the details from the Porsche dealer, not the independent repair shop. So anything under 10K to drive a Porsche out of the shop with major repair. You are doing great.
Pretty normal for that work from a qualified, non-dealership, workshop. I love my 3- spoke wheel. Super ergonomic design when laying your hands on the cross bar. Sounds great.
owning my 993 for 15 years now (and 991S 2016), carrera 2 LHD, 95K miles. Lovely car! Bullet proof. Gaskets, cam covers and clutch all usual stuff. In 40K mileage only replaced clutch once. Next tip, look at Bilstein suspension (lowering a bit) and Michelin super cup 2. Oh and keep revving over 4,000 ;-)
I would hate to tell you how much I have put in my 993 Turbo over the past 25 years, but never once a bad decision. I had a turbo start of leaking oil which resulted in rebuilding the turbos and the engine as well, but well worth it. I think it drives better today that it did new.
Subscribed to this channel! My dude, your editing is awesome and content is great! I am a BMW guy, have been for a few years and have only recently started looking at the Porsche 911.
Charles is a bargain. I owned a 993 RS (yep the real thing). No AC or radio, rear seats deleted etc. I bought a full set of maintenance manuals and did my own maintenance; worth every penny. The car was fabulous on the road but a real handful in heAvy traffic. Sell your wheel and replace with Light Weight Flywhheel and proper racing clutch. LSD 80% also worthy. Send your ÉCU to Manthey Racing. My car made 330 at the clutch. Italian cars with 400 HP always behind :-). German horses are obviously bigger…
For the work they did that is not bad I would not complain. To give you guys a comparison I drive a 991.2 TTS a few weeks ago a side air intake trim piece blew off at Suncoast parts it cost $680.
If you like the car, it's always worth spending it. Air cooled Porsches are going up in value too, so you can't lose in long run when take care of it like you do.
Great price for engine out anything. Plus just imagine if it was a Ferrari 355, many services require engine out and would cost 3x that (don’t ever get one, you’ll have more in repairs than the car, and that’s even with them appreciating to the 60-80k lower end now (used to be $40-60k years ago )) anyway the 993 will always be sought after and relatively reliable vs alternatives
As long as you’re not overpaying in comparison to alternative shop choices, things cost what they cost. Well done! Car looks great and you’re enjoying it. That’s all that matters.
I definitely got out a lot cheaper than a dealer and feel good about what I paid based on feedback I’ve gotten in response to the video relative to what others have paid. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
I like watching these old Porsche videos. You guys spend a lot of money on those older cars but I think I understand the reasons. Because of my traveling job, I have to drive something newer and it must not need major repairs so I drive a BMW M2 coupe. At the very least, we are in the German brotherhood.
Nice video. Had a 993...then moved to a 996tt with track focus (suspension, brakes, CAE shifter, gt3 buckets, etc......blueprinted.....). At some point, it cost so much to run that I decided - what do I care about....the RWB 996tt or being able to not worry. Moved to a Subaru STI with a 7y/100k warranty....again, ohlins/brakes. It is a 4.0 s car not a 2.9s car - that is stock....with lighter wheels..... I can park in on the street....use it in snow...and not care about it..... P cars are great cars.....they are just expensive and very much attract too much negative attention (who hat rich “prXck...” sort of stuff). It is nice parking at a middle of nowhere shop and not worrying about the car..... 993 engines, from my experience are great, but need to get rebuilt at some point ...seemed like 100k miles......
I appreciate your support. As a 3.2 owner, you’ll be interested to know I’m planning a 3.2 vs. 993 comparison series of videos. I’ll be comparing various aspects of the cars then ending with an overall comparison opinion about which I like better.
Pretty reasonable. Most of what you did is pretty standard and needed to keep the car going for thousands of miles. It’s a Porsche, you need to pay to play. I think many people buy fancy cars and don’t calculate in the carrying cost and those are the people you don’t want to buy from. The guy with all the shop records from New is the seller you want.
I had 987 boxster before and drive for year and sold it. Now I been driving 2005 911 C2 for three years. I would love to get 993. I might trade in toward 993.
I had a 2009 C4S PDK for about a year before I got into air cooled Porsches. The water cooled 911’s are definitely cool but in my humble opinion they lack the character and presence that the older cars have. Grab a 993! You won’t look back. I am thinking values will soften within the next 6 months so you can probably get a deal.
Jus went on vacation on the PCH and went by the sellers house and picked up 20yr + of service records (he forgot to send). It was a gold mine to see all the work done on my 993 polar blue. Three owner records tell Beautiful story if you know what I mean. Nice video!
Thanks man. Paperwork and any other associated historical ownership stuff (COA, valet pouch with keys, sales brochures) are worth a lot to me too. For me, and this may sound weird, it adds to the exclusivity these cars offer. Thanks for watching.
The maintenance costs of the air cooled models were one of the reasons I went with a 991S for my first Porsche. It was very affordable as far as maintenance goes. I sold it last summer and am debating on which 911 to get next.
I enjoyed your video. The engine out video was awesome to see. Could not agree more with the three spoke wheel. Functional and cosmetic home run! I have a 12 GTS manual and I love the car, but if I find a hundred grand on the side of the road a 97 4s wide body would have a new home. Subscribed! Enjoy your ride. She’s a beaut.
Ahhh... ok, Bavarian Enthusiast TV... makes sense now. I’m just catching up on all your content. Lol Even most Porsche guys probably wouldn’t get the “Swabian TV” reference. Lol. Really enjoying your channel!
Well I seen this coming, a converted BIMMER guy, we are pleased... lol. Well truth be known I had the same life, still have a soft spot for a BMW, beautiful machines. I sat in a 997 and the Z4M and its family was in the used car lot and auto trader. You will have to make a vlog on your true feelings with your move and why. My short story I saw this 997 parked at the front door in a used Ford car lot. I always wanted a 993, but unaffordable. Drove in, the plates were off, so I sat in it, sales came running out..we haven't cleaned it up yet sir.. I smiled and gave him my credit card, I will take it. Much later..I bought a mint Black 2008 997 with lobster claws, naturally aspirated, 6 speed Carrera S with 18,000 km all original, untouched and mostly stored. from a gentleman who just traded it in for a Ford diesel truck.. lady luck. Man wish I had a mechanic like Charles around. I am happy you did all the updates mechanical repairs etc.. to the 993, you won't regret it. The car that was suppose to be a daily driver..lol, you won't regret the dollars spent, I am sure you can tell the difference in the drive and handling.. your investment will only grow $$. Porsche has 50 plus years of racing history and wins.. it's a true track car built for the road.. This channel will only grown..kudos, very proud of what you are creating.. we knew you could leave all the unsure feelings behind... the freedom is yours Will.. have fun, create and enjoy.
Thank you for the great video. Your car sounds great. I had 2007 997 TT with Ceramic Brakes and got rid of it after 5 years / with 27k miles which I regret to this day. $5,700 is the pocket change compare to all the happiness your 993 will give you.. I will subscribe to your channel now. Can you post your mechanic's name and contact info?
The 993 last of the air cooled appreciating investment I had an air cooled 911 years ago now have a water cooled version love it just the same. had a clutch and RMS fitted £700 last year.
993 is not so expensive to maintain, you have spent money that previous owners should have paid to preserve the car. The clutch needs 2000 miles, and then you will understand perfection in the gear change. If Porsche were to make a 993 today, it would cost over 250000 USD.
I work at a Porsche Specialist and $5,700 for ANYTHING on a 993 is a bargain... get ready for a top end rebuild on it in the next couple of years- that will set you back $15- 20k. When your check engine light comes on and it is burning a lot of oil- you'll know it's time. The valve guides wear out very early on these cars- it's a well known issue- and will need to be replaced- that means the top end needs to come apart- it's time consuming and expensive. BTW- the engine removal isn't expensive (although specialist like to act like it is)- a competent spealisit can pull a motor and gear box out in under 35 minutes- and back in in about the same time. It's the time while it's out getting through the layers of components that gets expensive and the parts have become astronomically expensive.
Nice informative video. My only objection is the way you hold the steering wheel with one hand at the 12 o'clock position instead of both hands at 9 and 3. It's just not the proper and safe way to drive a 911.
I own a 95'. I fortunately have the time and a lift in my garage, and DIY 99% of repairs on it. I pulled the motor and did most of what your mechanic did. I think I spent close to $2K in parts alone. My guess was $6K. I think you got a decently priced service for what they did. I would say it probably runs better and smoother because I bet they re-times the cams. Curious were the plugs and wires done as well? Nice car! I'm sure you are enjoying it! I have the same MY02's and steering wheel on mine too. Light and gorgeous additions from the 996 cars!
Man you really worked that price issue to the max..........you should be on a home shopping channel. But wait........there is more. Actually price seems pretty good!
Appreciate your sharing the costs. Based on experience with my 964, the bill seems reasonable. I know it hurts to write the check; I’ve been there too. I also agree that even though your wallet hurts, there is a great sense of satisfaction in knowing that you had it done right. A great mechanic shares enough of the process with his / her clients, that they understand their car more and more as time goes on. I think psychologically, the more you have done to and learn about your car, more it feels like an extension of you as a person.
Thanks for the comments and for watching. I really am glad to put the money into the car for the reasons you mention. Now I know what’s been done and I have peace of mind when really pushing on it. I love my 993, so I don’t view the money as an expense as I would have with other cars I’ve owned...I almost view it as irrelevant because I have no plans to sell it. The money is basically an investment in my enjoyment of it. Thanks again for watching, and please subscribe if you haven’t already 👍🏼
I do most of the work for my own 996 the past 2 years (in college so I'm on a pretty tight budget.) I would say the best way to do it is make a big ass list of stuff to do for the engine and replace everything you can. (For ex 996 aos is a part I tend to always replace if I have a budget.) I had the engine out 2 times (first time was when I just got it and it wasn't running, second time was the air to water cooler was leaking badly so had to drop that.
I’ve never really had the aptitude or patience to do in-depth projects or maintenance on my cars. I guess on some level I wish I were wired up for it but thankfully I’ve found good guys I can rely on to do the work for me. They get paid and I have peace of mind it’s been done right, Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already! 👍🏼
th-cam.com/video/YsvPMhHtxBk/w-d-xo.html. Paid $47,000 for it as I recall, after I sold a fabspeed x pipe that came on it for $1000. So sales price of $48,000 minus the $1000 part.
Water cooled vs air cooled. That’s the question. For many, the budget really drives the decision. You can get a clean 996 911 base Carrera for like mid-$20’s, I think. Then again, you can get a clean 993 turbo for like $130,000. A new GT3 for like $250,000 or more. But if you haven’t been able to tell already, I am partial to the older, air cooled cars. I am doing a new series comparing my 2 911’s to eachother. That might help your decision making process. th-cam.com/video/-NaRUub6T9A/w-d-xo.html
I am glad my 996 C4S is well sorted out!, I am sure I dumped some money into it too but that widebody and the 4 wheel drive is worth every penny. I went from a BMW to Porsche 911 too but I still have a BMW wagon for my daily :)....Good luck with yours.
I had a 997.2 C4S before I fell for the air cooled 911’s, and no doubt the look of the rear end of those cars is 2nd to none. I do still have 2 BMW’s (a 1970 BMW 2002 and a track-built e36 M3) but both will be sold at some point soon. I don’t know why I have gotten so apathetic toward them vs. the air cooled Porsche’s, but I just have so time to move on. Thanks for watching and pls subscribe if you haven’t already 👍🏼
The good thing is you will be able to drive the car for 100,000 miles with no issues. On labor you can save an insane amount of money by doing it yourself though. However most people don't have the free time a 16 year old with a dad who owns a porche has lol. Most people save $5,000 on labor. However with the cost of the tools needed, it will probably cost the same. However once you get the tools you don't need to buy any more lol.
That’s a good question and one I can’t answer definitely bc it’s been awhile since this was done. I’m sure it’s been discussed on Pelican parts. I would try their search function.
Who is your mechanic if you don't mind sharing? Honestly, I know it seems like a big number but for what you got done, I think you actually had a very reasonable price. Plus you won't have to worry about all those things for a long time. I'm in nc too btw
I agree with you. The dollars spent got me a ton of work done. Compared to a dealer, especially, I did well. Shoot me an email at therennthusiast@gmail.com and I’ll give you the names of a couple of shops in NC.
That was not a big bill, try a 915 rebuild on an older 911, or an upper end rebuild and head stud repair. Talk to use when you have $20-30K in repairs. These cars are so over rated, the fact the everything on these is x3 the price it should be is insane. Sadly most Porsche people hold high repair costs as a badge of nobility, and chalk it up to "Porsche Character". An equally well maintained Corvette is 9/10 -10/10's the performance for 1/3 the cost or less. Before you suggest that I don't have a 911, think again. I loved Porsche's before owning one, they are stupidly expensive for what they are.
A lot of this stuff could've easily been done on your own although of course it's probably a pain to put in all those exhaust shield screws while the engine is in the car. I've taken the engine out of my '84 Carrera before, yes it's a pain but not a $1500 pain. But then again it wasn't in a shop. So I hear ya. Enjoy the car!
Thanks for sharing your insight. Yep, I totally get what you’re saying. I’ve done some projects in the past (bushings, fluid changes) but have never really had the patience, skills and knowledge to do this kind of work, especially dropping an engine out of a 911. I did recently pick up a “101 Projects” book for my 86 3.2 and am gonna try a few of those projects just to get started. Here’s a video overview of the book if you’re interested: th-cam.com/video/fHcG7PdnlKk/w-d-xo.html Honestly, I have concluded I’m more of a driver than a mechanic. Stings the wallet a bit but but part of the game, I guess. Thanks for watching, and please subscribe if you haven’t already 👍🏼

The 2002 will be available for purchase at some point in the next 6 - 12 months. I was planning on putting it on BaT this spring but with economic conditions being what they are, now is not the time. It’s a GREAT example but really all of my attention and interest is on the 911’s. Thanks for watching!
Thierry Ritfeld I agree with you in principle. That said, I could have gotten out sub-$1,000 several times when the 993 and the 3.2 have been in the shop...but I tend to fall into the “while the car’s in the shop, let’s go ahead and address that” trap.
Who is doing your work now? Who disappointed you on the PPI? I’m struggling to find someone I trust. I’m needed to find someone to look over the work I just had done.
Yes, I got one done on it. I think you had some deferred maintenance that may have not been easy to see. Moreover I don’t think the shop that did it was really any good. I bought the car remotely and relied on an unknown shop to do the PPI. In hindsight I should have done more homework on the shop.
I've had my 993 Carrera 2 for 8 years. I recently had engine and gearbox out to have all the seals done as I had some leaks - nothing bad but the work had to be done at some stage. I followed the same logic - "whilst the engine's out, is there anything else that needs attention". It's reassuring when it comes back and everything is right. The 4 wheel alignment wasn't cheap but absolutely necessary.
I just a few weeks ago did a similar service on my 86 Carrera 3.2. Clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, clutch fork, transmission fluid change, etc. Shifts much better. I paid $3100 for the job. I have heard the G50 is more expensive to repair than the 915.
Money well spend to keep this iconic car on the road & in fine condition. It looks amazing but would have kept it original by not replacing the steering wheel.
Gary Simpson I am indeed a fan of stock so kept the 4 spoke wheel so can reverse it. That said, the 3 spoke wheel is superior ergonomically speaking. Months later I am immensely happy with it. Thanks for watching.
A solid indy repair shop owned by someone who knows what they’re doing and is honest/transparent is worth paying a premium for, at least in my opinion. I am happy to support these types of shops and help a good tech earn a living if they meet the criteria above. Thanks for watching and pls subscribe if you haven’t already 👍🏼
pepe la pew Something I learned a long time ago I did this with BMW and Porsche, find out when the lunch truck comes around talk to the Technicians they will tell you where’s a good shop that’s reasonable and trustworthy as a lot of senior Tech’s open there own shops.
$5700 was higher than I would have guessed. But, if it makes you happy. The car sounds great. Speaking of BMWs , a service advisor from Flow BMW came in the store, I asked the hourly shop rate. $150.00 per hour. Dang that's high. Anyway, $5700 is about the price of one of Jeb's watches . lol.... Greg
Not inexpensive for sure but I do think it adds value to the car (in a normal market without the current Coronavirus pandemic and associated economic issues). Certainly not dollar for dollar, but it’s worth something, not that I’m gonna sell it. This is work anyone who knows these cars would want done. And, as I mentioned in the video, I am now not hesitant to pound on it now that I have had it thoroughly gone through. We basically did everything. In fact, I’m gonna run it in a DE event at VIR once we can get through this pandemic. Thanks for your consistent engagement. 👍🏼 And $150/hour for standard BMW work is why they call it a “stealership”

Thanks for sharing this experience. Just curious if you are a member on any Porsche forum, or even club? ie. Also try spend sometime on forums, join the Porsche club, Rennlist, hell even on youtube or else you will grow more white hairs very quickly.
Sure, I am definitely very plugged into Rennlist, 993Rennlisters on Facebook, etc. I have done some of my own jobs but frankly prefer outsourcing the work. I am more of a driver than a mechanic. Thanks for watching!

It was a fair bill! I paid more when years ago, I bought a 1988 Porsche 911. Enjoy the car!

Good tips thanks

I would hate to tell you how much I have put in my 993 Turbo over the past 25 years, but never once a bad decision. I had a turbo start of leaking oil which resulted in rebuilding the turbos and the engine as well, but well worth it. I think it drives better today that it did new.
While repairs are never fun, they hurt less with these cars bc they definitely improve them when done correctly.
Subscribed to this channel! My dude, your editing is awesome and content is great! I am a BMW guy, have been for a few years and have only recently started looking at the Porsche 911.
Thanks so much. Really means a lot.
To give you guys a comparison
I drive a 991.2 TTS a few weeks ago a side air intake trim piece blew off at Suncoast parts it cost $680.
If you like the car, it's always worth spending it. Air cooled Porsches are going up in value too, so you can't lose in long run when take care of it like you do.
That total wasn’t too bad. New clutch for my 997 Turbo was $4500!
Ouch! Don’t tell me that! I have an 07 turbo 6MT. How many miles on yours when you replaced your clutch?
Wow, if you’re not mechanically capable or motivated these
cars can get very expensive. Car sounds fantastic!
As a new first time Porsche owner i enjoy your channel and appreciate your honesty. 86 3.2 Carrera owner.
I appreciate your support.
As a 3.2 owner, you’ll be interested to know I’m planning a 3.2 vs. 993 comparison series of videos.
I’ll be comparing various aspects of the cars then ending with an overall comparison opinion about which I like better.
$5700 not bad for a Porsche and it sounds great! :)
Scott Thompson thanks for the support!
Engine out...you got a bargain. I've heard far far worse. Add a zero. Good vid.
Ahhh... ok, Bavarian Enthusiast TV... makes sense now.
Not bad at all. Spent 3-4k just doing 991 tires/sparks/coils/cam sensors this year.
I agree. I made out well considering the depth of the work. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, 4 year ago pricing in a lower price market. That same scope today in my location would be about $14k.
Nice informative video. My only objection is the way you hold the steering wheel with one hand at the 12 o'clock position instead of both hands at 9 and 3. It's just not the proper and safe way to drive a 911.
Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
It costed me $4000 just to change alternator to Boxter back in 2009 kist before I sold it with $16k
They get paid and I have peace of mind it’s been done right,
Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already! 👍🏼
Man you've got a Rolex Daytona on the bill is nothing!!!
phist!
Do you have a video on when, where you purchased the car? Also what did you pay for it?
th-cam.com/video/YsvPMhHtxBk/w-d-xo.html. Paid $47,000 for it as I recall, after I sold a fabspeed x pipe that came on it for $1000. So sales price of $48,000 minus the $1000 part.
That's not bad for all the work they did, plus the car is going to hold its value.
I actually agree. I know guys who have paid a lot more for the same job, so I’m happy.
Just getting the Porsche bug, haven’t purchased one as of yet. Looking to either purchase new or used, any thought would be appreciated.
I would looooove one of these but I can’t drive stick 😢😢
What shop did the work?
Just subscribed. Love the color, year, and brake light on the 95. Also, great choice with the steering wheel!
993 everything is expensive compared to the air cooled models but everything is just that much better in a 993.
I felt good about what I paid. Car is so worth it. Thanks for watching!
zeus mojo 993 still is an air cooled 911 model.
Hey. Cool 993. Where did u get neon Porsche sign?
BrilliantNeonSigns.com but I think they’re out of business.
Not bad. Those repairs were worthy. I would have done it for sure.
Why do you have the dash gages turned on the left?..
Do you have to disconnect the AC as part of engine out service
$5700 is not a 'huge bill' for porsche 993 ownership. You want to buy a bentley continental gt if you want to know what a 'huge bill' really is.
I guess it’s all relative.
👍👍 like the dreaded failed vacuum lines on early CGTs that require dropping the transmission 😢😜
I have a Momo. Very grippy.
I paid 2800$ Canadian for only clutch
What’s wrong with speed gauge not straight
Best time to drive these cars are in the fall. Anyway my opinion
Nice looking porsche,993 models are my favorite and a few other models.
Here’s a video overview of the book if you’re interested:
th-cam.com/video/fHcG7PdnlKk/w-d-xo.html
Honestly, I have concluded I’m more of a driver than a mechanic. Stings the wallet a bit but but part of the game, I guess.
Thanks for watching, and please subscribe if you haven’t already 👍🏼
Was thinking $10K, that’s not bad at all
Owning 2 911's, 5.7K is not a lot of money or something to hold until the end of the video...
I restore these cars, that's such a fair price. If you want to have fun and look good you have to loosen up a little or switch it out for a Camry.
Yep. This is an old video. Here’s a newer one about my latest moves with the car if you’re interested:
Porsche 993 Build UPDATE: Have I RUINED My 993?!? th-cam.com/video/vMAt1FtD_Hc/w-d-xo.html
Jeez, cheap as chips! You have to spend what you have to spend, great car, you know the car is straight.
What’s happening with the 2002?
Sounds like the repairs were all worth it 👍🏻 sounds great
The 2002 will be available for purchase at some point in the next 6 - 12 months. I was planning on putting it on BaT this spring but with economic conditions being what they are, now is not the time.
It’s a GREAT example but really all of my attention and interest is on the 911’s.
Thanks for watching!
having an Aircooled Porsche is like having a boat, every time you bring it to your mechanic it will be a minimum of 1,000 bucks.
Thierry Ritfeld I agree with you in principle. That said, I could have gotten out sub-$1,000 several times when the 993 and the 3.2 have been in the shop...but I tend to fall into the “while the car’s in the shop, let’s go ahead and address that” trap.
I feel honored to be in your intro
Haha I was waiting for you to notice one day. I wasn’t sure if you’ve been watching the videos. Now you’re internet famous 😂
@@Rennthusiast We can talk about my royalty share at TC2020. Even if its over zoom.
How much in parts and labor?
It’s shared in the video
Who is doing your work now? Who disappointed you on the PPI? I’m struggling to find someone I trust. I’m needed to find someone to look over the work I just had done.
I bought the car out of Omaha, NE so no one locally. Do you have an air cooled car?
No it’s 08 Cayman S
Ryan Barnard shoot me an email at BimmerSpecialtygroup@gmail.com and I’ll get you contact info for a shop you can try.
Love the gear change face hahahaha
Hammering it home bro 😂
Did you not do a pre purchase inspection?
Thanks for watching! Please subscribe if you haven’t already. 👍🏼
Do you have personal experience with Porsche 911 bills or specifically the cost of ownership of a 993? Let me know in the comments!
A solid indy repair shop owned by someone who knows what they’re doing and is honest/transparent is worth paying a premium for, at least in my opinion.
I am happy to support these types of shops and help a good tech earn a living if they meet the criteria above.
Thanks for watching and pls subscribe if you haven’t already 👍🏼
pepe la pew
Something I learned a long time ago I did this with BMW and Porsche, find out when the lunch truck comes around talk to the Technicians they will tell you where’s a good shop that’s reasonable and trustworthy as a lot of senior Tech’s open there own shops.
And $150/hour for standard BMW work is why they call it a “stealership”
I have a 1991 - 964 --C-4. Have spent $16,000 on engine rebuild. I am looking for a good home for my 911 as I recently purchased a 2005 turbo S. I am in Georgia, if anyone wants to reply to this post?
How much are you asking? Color combo? Additional details would be helpful if you’re comfortable sharing them.
@@Rennthusiast Sure... Cabriolet. guards red, black top, Gray leather interior, About 82,000 miles of which 3000 since rebuild. $48,500 price. Can be seen near Atanta or will provide pictures and documentation by email.

Cool. Feel free. Hope it helps. Passive sellers are usually preferred. I am not in the market but I know that people who are into 964’s have been watching. Speaking of, thanks for checking out the channel. 👍🏼
Was it a dealership bill, or did you use a third party service department
Used an independent air cooled mechanic.
Where did you get the light?
Which one? The neon or the steampunkt lamp?
Yes, that is a cool light.
I thought he was going to say 57 grand...
Thanks for sharing this experience. Just curious if you are a member on any Porsche forum, or even club? ie. Rennlist etc etc. I ask this because a lot of what you paid for to have fixed shocked me as they are easy to do your self and helps you know your car better. I was really shocked you had someone fit the steering, phone holder, heat shield etc etc. As you were expecting a significantly lower bill, this could have easily been achieved. Can I suggest to you Bentleys Porsche 911 Carrera Service Manual 1995 - 1998. It is an absolute must for any serious 993 owner, that's if you value your wallet and bank balance.
If you still have the car two years later, then your appreciation has likely far eclipsed your repair bill (which really wasn't all that terrible).
You've got that right! Can't disagree with both of your points.
@@Rennthusiast I am in a similar boat. I have a 981 Boxster S manual in a rare-ish color...I've made far more on the appreciation than maintenance has cost me in the past 6 years. You have a fantastic vehicle -- the one I had the poster of on my wall as a kid. Love it!
Left when wouldn’t tell cost
Stephen Gossop the cost is shared. Maybe you should have stuck around longer.
4:37 Ceramic Rolex Daytona.
$5700. Wow
Of course it was worth it , it’s only money after all .
Not bad at all imo
Money pits. Any motor that cant do 200k miles is crap in my opinion. its not 1940s where you have to rebuild the motors every 100 k miles/
After all that work....You tachometer & speedometer are not aligned ? Your not racing the car dude....Straighten them up ! Cool car though, enjoy !
Haha I hear you...the Speedo is actually useful at the angle because I can’t see the numbers at highway speed when it’s at the stock position.
But yes...no denying I like the look.
@@Rennthusiast I know the reason behind it.... I too had a Porsche 1983 SC Convertible. Guards red, whale tail, original everything, I had it for 3 years, sold it & made a profit. One of the best cars iv'e owned. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon drive type of car. It has 294 thousand K's on the clock & went like shit off a stick ha ha. I had the gauges straight though. Is that all? You were lucky this time.
It’s been so much more $$$ with other 911’s I’ve bought since I shot this 993 video. This was child’s play compared to other 911’s I have since had to sort.
Porsche 95???
Hey boss let me know if you want to sell it I’m a buyer
😆
definitely worth every penny, bargain.
