I just want to point out that I made a joke comparing the new Wonder Woman comic to Metal Gear Rising when the first issue came out, and now in the latest issue Diana just had an honest-to-god boss rush against her rogues’ gallery, during which she _parried the fucking Washington Monument,_ and now I am 100% convinced this run is going to end with some kind of giant mecha fight against the Sovereign
I tried so hard not to quote the Symbiote Spider-Man versus Shocker scene when reading Ultimate Spider-Man Issue 2. I did not succeed, but it was worth it.
Sometimes it makes the comic, when it’s a really good panel, I start reading it out loud (to myself 😅) but the next issue I read I hear the voice & it pays off.
I want to thank you guys for doing this show in general, but this week specifically because i got beat up and robbed over the weekend and the thief saw fit to take my ultra high prescription glasses leaving me pretty much blind (at least legally) until my new ones are created in a lab much like weapon x and so the only way i have been able to follow anything comic related is this channel.... and it's amazing sister channels as well and there were times where you guys were keeping me moving forward so thank you. Also just so people don't worry: i am recovered mostly, my left shoulder was previously messed up this did it no favors, they got maybe 20 bucks from my wallet and the eye exam is done and the glasses are being made. I am just required to wait and be patient and I am not good at either of those things. Thank you again and as always, Comicpop woo!
Issue 2 of Ultimate Spider-Man was great. The theme is about hiding the truth and the dangers of that. The Bugle is doing it. Peter did it and Shocker did it to beat Spider-Man. I think Shocker is my all time favourite Spider-Man villain. He’s very much every green meaning you can kind of do what you want with him and you can put your themes of your story into his character and it work beautifully. The reveal in the book is great with May finding out and why that will lead to the classic suit. I do think tension will be caused with MJ and Peter and as a hook in case this ends in the separating or things like that but this first arc is called “married with children” so I suspect this arc is building up to his family knowing and backing him and what comes of that with the tease of a divorce being a reason to read hoping it doesn’t happen
The new Ultimate Spider-Man is the first series that I've actually gone out and bought the issues to read. It's really good so far. Usually I wait until there are a few TPBs out before I start reading a series.
I have to be honest, I was hoping that a return to Ultimate Spider-Man would have focused more on Peter searching the mysteries to how he was back from the dead, as opposed to an alternate history of the Ultimate Universe. That said, the concept of a middle aged Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man as a family man and husband is an interesting one.
The last panel was for all Spider-Man editorial. Hickman gave them the finger and told them I gotta story to tell. Oh and I think I know who the Goblin is..
Garth Ennis on James Bond is an absolutely bizarre combination that sounds like it would be terrible on paper but is instead somehow the best thing to happen to the character in ten years
