  • We’ve all been compared to other people at some point and whether we want to admit it or not, we will always be compared to other people at any stage of our lives. Being compared to another person is just as destructive as comparing yourself to other people. In life, you will always encounter people who try to bring you down by criticizing your body figure but sometimes, it’s the voices inside our heads that are way scarier. We need to stop labeling ourselves and each other by comparative adjectives (who’s more successful, who’s more beautiful, etc). Body image is how you see yourself and your own perception of your body. It does not matter who you are, what your gender or sexuality is, what your size or skin color is, you are beautiful for being unapologetically yourself and for the body you have. It’s about time you realize that and embrace the gift that is your body, if you haven’t already.

When the one who tryna body shaming you was your own family. I tried to explain them that body shaming ain’t a joke it’s really effect someone else feelings and the words I got from them was “ why you are so serious we just joking around “ and my eldest brother even told me to go to mental hospital he said I’m crazy he said I watch too much movies and dramas. I grew up in family that cannot speak up even they hurts our feelings they said it’s rude. When I tried to opened up and speak about my problems to them all I got was scolded by them. My mom said next time dont tell her my problems again and also my dad said my problems are all useless. My brother used to beat me and kick my back when I was in grade 7 and he wanted to do that again yesterday, I’m a victim but my parents scolded me they said im so different in this family because im an introvert.

I was dating someone who I was quite attracted to in many ways (funny, smart, kind and sexy) but she was not very physically attractive to me because of her size. Aren’t I allowed to have a preference? Anyway she kept asking if I was being distant because of her size and I eventually said that it was a factor in my decision(I wasn’t making any jokes). She claims that I body shamed her. I want to know if I actually did and if there was a less hurtful way to say that. Would it have been better to be dishonest and make up something? I just don’t understand how being dishonest could be the right thing to do.
