i dont own a ps5, but i love that they ONE made it free for owners of the PS4 version both physical and digital. And how much went into making FPS mode identical to Graphic mode as only the resolution and shadow detail is different. Its going to be great when i get a PS5 to play at 60fps with these load speeds. Hell i hope we can see a PC release in the future too.
You're saying its 1620p in performance mode, and VG Tech says its 1533p while in performance mode. And both modes use dynamic resolution also. Can you confirm or deny?
Hard to say. Could be just lower resolution fog volumes and shadow quality. But its actually graphically using all the same textures, global illumination and fog so its pretty close just a little less sharper.
Not when u have a 2000 dollars TV that fix the image and make it ultra smooth even at 30 fps but on "cheap" 500/1000 dollars TV yes 60 FPS >>> quality mode.
I'm replaying FF7 Remake on PC fully maxed out, but I feel like the lighting and contrast to be a downgrade when compared to the original PS4 version. I know, the textures on PS4 looks like butt, but the contrast and ambient oclusion were much better implemented on PS4. Go to this time (1:06) to see the difference. Everything on intergrade looks way too bright and Cloud's hair looks almost unshaded. Another problem that i have with intergrade is the fog and bloom. With the fog everything is clouded from view and it just looks strange, especially around Aerith's house (8:04) or at the beggining at 7:15. The only features that I appreciate are the better looking textures (especially the skyboxes and the door) and the higher frame rate. I hope that Rebirth is gonna be an upgrade and not a downgrade, especially since Rebirth had the strange looking Cloud due to lighting issues. The environment lighting is soberb, almost looks like a CGI, but Cloud looks 2 generations behind FF7 Remake during gameplay and exploration.
There’s really no reason not to choose Performance mode, unless you have a massive 4k tv and don’t sit far from it, as the graphical enhancements apply to both modes and the 60fps is just too good to pass up.
Man I remember i was playing this game last year on ps4 and now enjoying play on ps5 it’s a whole different from graphics and especially the loading time 🙏🏻
The difference between the PS4 and 5 versions are vast, and they fixed so many of the issues while adding so much more to make it look rather lovely. That said, the graphics and performance modes are barely noticeable, and if they have any real differences, I'll put it this way - if you have to hunt for them, they're not drastic enough to worry about, so might as well stick with Performance.
The majority of the populace is beginning to understand why some people have been harping on a 60 fps minimum. It's still not a ton but once you've played on 60+ fps, you can't go back. Like how did I play through the original Modern Warfare on Veteran on a 480p display with 30 fps? How did we aim at long distance targets so well? It's hard to look at now
I been playing on ps5 quality mode and I must say it's amazing and I even played this on ps4 pro but with the ps5 you can see this is the games best version hands down and clearly the system the game is meant for
I’m glad I installed an ssd in my ps4 pro when I first played this game, still not nearly as fast now that I’m playing on ps5 but definitely a time saver.
Less vibrant lighting makes it appear that way, much more ray tracing on ps5, giving it a noticeably more illuminated appearance with the same lighting using different programming
Because getting games that look THIS GOOD to run at 4K 60fps without large frame drops isn’t easy to achieve. Is it possible? Yeah, probably, but the amount of work they’d need to put in to get it right would likely be way more than is worthwhile. If it’s any consolation, the great thing about the performance mode is that it’s still displaying at a resolution much higher than 1080p. Graphically, both modes are the same, it’s literally just the resolution that’s different. Performance mode is a no brainer. It looks fantastic.
I just finished this. I think PS4 ver. is good enough considering its spec. Most of us cannot recognize differences between them when you actually play except only Frame rate.
I can't believe that 60fps mode is the same resolution as PS4 Pro version. To me it's clearly lower, PS4 Pro was crystal clear and had resolution scaling, this 60fps model is just milk. I would even say i'd like the PS4 Pro version better in terms of the lighting in most of the scenes, though some look significantly better with new one. The new version uses fog effects too excessively, which ruins a lot of scenes. Also, cutscenes seems to be more compressed on PS5? I remember their jaw-dropping quality on PS4 Pro and seemless transitions to gameplay. I couldn't tell which image is a prerender and which is on game engine... Here it's obvious and transitions are not fluid, you can even see compresion pixels... There is no sign of ray-tracing... 30fps ps5 looks just like ps4 pro version with different lighting and some textures upgrade. So little upgrade with 2x more power? Clearly this game was pitch perfect optimized for PS4 and PS4 Pro in every scene and this port didn't get that level of polish and you can notice that. Some scenes just look off. They have even made some changes to the music and sound design in some cutscenes/scenes, although changes are subtle. I'm a bit dissapointed with this update. I clearly expected something better. If you can't scalp/afford PS5, go ahead and play PS4 Pro version.
Does anybody else have the issue that when cutscenes play, the framerate goes down a few? I'm talking specifically about the intro cutscene where the camera pans over Midgar.
Volumetric lighting or "FOG" is just wrong in the upgraded version for me. Colors at a distance look washed out and lacks contrast unlike ps4 version. Specially during daytime
@@caliptus85 Okay, then no problem. I guess it would be nice to have an option to choose the intensity of the fog, so you could set it to a lower value or even 0.
@@youuuuuuuuuuutube exactly!!!! I dont understand how they chose to make such a drastic change to the outdoor daytime areas in comparison to the original withouth giving you the option to turn the setting off. They do that with motion blur
The only thing I don't like is the fog. It feels like it straight up makes Aerith's house look worse. It's one of the most beautiful places in the game and you choose to cover it up with fog? Why? Other than that, it's an improvement in every conceivable way. Especially loading times and the textures.

Thank you for this video. It really helped me determine my choice between Quality and FPS mode on the PS5
FPS mode seems to be the winner. HOWEVER, I wish we had a custom mode that let's you choose an adaptive quality. For me, I'd like high fidelity while playing outside of fights and have it seemlesy switch to high FPS when in fights.
@@jonathant.8705 That should be possible for some settings. Resolution and shadows specifically. Wouldn't even be a difficult addition. A patch could do that. I demand a petition
i dont own a ps5, but i love that they ONE made it free for owners of the PS4 version both physical and digital.
And how much went into making FPS mode identical to Graphic mode as only the resolution and shadow detail is different.
Its going to be great when i get a PS5 to play at 60fps with these load speeds.
Hell i hope we can see a PC release in the future too.
The ps5 version is the complete ps 4 pro version.
Money can't buy you time.
PS5: hold my SSD.
yes glad those textures that looked like didn't pop in are here
You're saying its 1620p in performance mode, and VG Tech says its 1533p while in performance mode. And both modes use dynamic resolution also. Can you confirm or deny?
Yes its dynamic resolution. Depending on where you tested your sample you may get different reading. In generall the game spend its time in 1620p.
@@blackwidow7804 No 1620p in performance mode , its 1500p and lower depending on whats going on , its been confirmed by DF.
Is there any difference between quality mode and fps mode aside from resolution?
Was askin the same
Hard to say. Could be just lower resolution fog volumes and shadow quality. But its actually graphically using all the same textures, global illumination and fog so its pretty close just a little less sharper.
Por fin podre ver a mi Tifa en 4K 😏
Tú me entiendes 😏

2 seconds
You kidding me
That's fast af
I wish I could know the exact details between performance and quality here.. like whats the exact resolution? To what resolutions does it scale?
Now the game have the full potencial
Don't mind me, I'm just here for the infamous door
Performance mode
0:35 PS4 and PS4 Pro plus are, you can read all texts in loading, in PS5 nope
this is the best comparison so far, keep the good works ~!!!!
Im playing it on my ps4 fat abd runs fantástic, ps4 is kepping strong
Buenisimo video como siempre!!
Damn can we all just game along? FF7 on PS5👍🏿
No doubt that FPS mode is the best choice. Thanks for the video
1:28 PS4 Pro version is better than PS5.
2.1 seconds from title screen to loaded save file. Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Man I remember i was playing this game last year on ps4 and now enjoying play on ps5 it’s a whole different from graphics and especially the loading time 🙏🏻
that 2 second load time tho

It's hard to look at now
I play it on pc.... 90 fps and high grafik... looks good
I got a PS5 today and able to play this game again, finally! Hooray!
Damn the differences are like night and day now! They did an awesome job
what happened with famous PS4 pro 4K* mode PS5 took it now?
I been playing on ps5 quality mode and I must say it's amazing and I even played this on ps4 pro but with the ps5 you can see this is the games best version hands down and clearly the system the game is meant for
Qué juegazo
The game loading in 2 seconds on the ps5 is insane compared to the ps4's that almost took a whole minute
I’m glad I installed an ssd in my ps4 pro when I first played this game, still not nearly as fast now that I’m playing on ps5 but definitely a time saver.
I think i saw in Digital Foundry, that the basic PS4 runs at 900p or less, and it doesn't seems to be 1080p native. But great comparison !!! thanks.
More darkness and contrast in PS4?
Less vibrant lighting makes it appear that way, much more ray tracing on ps5, giving it a noticeably more illuminated appearance with the same lighting using different programming
4:42 LOL the pop-in is actually worse on PS4Pro?
Been playing at 60fps on the lg cx looks unreal 😳😍
Is the Door in Clouds Apartment is now HIgh Res?
I’m glad I haven’t finished this game yet. Also, I wish we didn’t have to choose between quality and performance. Why not both?
I finally got a PS5 and i feel like this game was made for the ps5 the loading times are insane.
Enhorabuena por el trabajo
The door and flower textures have been fixed.

I'm talking specifically about the intro cutscene where the camera pans over Midgar.
wow I noticed that too! I saw other videos and it has the same slight frame rate drop
I have FF7 remake free from last month's PS Plus. Will i get the upgrade free?
No, you won't unfortunately, the psplus version is not eligible for that. U have to have a disc version of the game.
You need a physical or digital bought version
Volumetric lighting or "FOG" is just wrong in the upgraded version for me. Colors at a distance look washed out and lacks contrast unlike ps4 version. Specially during daytime
Yes i agree wiht you bro i hate fogs bcs its broken the image quality i wich we can find a solotion to disable it :( sorry for my bad english
"Colors at a distance look washed out and lack contrast" => that's what FOG does, doh!
@@youuuuuuuuuuutube yup thats why I like the ps4 version better
@@caliptus85 Okay, then no problem. I guess it would be nice to have an option to choose the intensity of the fog, so you could set it to a lower value or even 0.
@@youuuuuuuuuuutube exactly!!!! I dont understand how they chose to make such a drastic change to the outdoor daytime areas in comparison to the original withouth giving you the option to turn the setting off. They do that with motion blur
Man, wish I had a PS5 right about now haha. Even FPS mode looks better than PS4 pro.
The only thing I don't like is the fog. It feels like it straight up makes Aerith's house look worse. It's one of the most beautiful places in the game and you choose to cover it up with fog? Why?
Other than that, it's an improvement in every conceivable way. Especially loading times and the textures.
This feels like a totally new experience in 60fps mode!
