My $.02 The PC is nice and dandy while it works. I had it for three years. A couple of times it gave me problems. When I contacted the PC manufacturer, they advised me to disconnect it and connect again One day I was passing another vehicle on a two-way road and suddenly lost power. I was able to let the car that I was passing through, pulled to the side, and disconnected the PC. Everything went back to normal. I contacted the manufacturer again and informed them of the problem. They gave me a lip service. Anyway, I don't plan to use this device again.
At the three minute mark in the video. Wanted to comment prior to watching the whole video. I was at a WalGreens wait for my wife and guy in and older 5Gen 4Runner (2014ish) was in the parking lot. He stopped me and told me that this product did work very well for his 4Runner. He told me that is became more responsive and that with the setting he could set it so that he could get better gas mileage. With that being said I am glad to see you, a person that work on these vehicles on a daily basis doing a review before i do pull the trigger on buying one. Thank you
Hey Viking. Keep up good work. I bought a 22 ORP in Barca Red in Dec. 21. Before i hit 400 miles, i bought a PC cause i hated the wonky throttle response. The PC isnt for fuel savings or adding any horse power. It’s for throttle response. I have been using mine now for over 5500 miles and love it. My sweet spot is City 2 or 3 for my normal drives to work and around town. Went off roading in PA this weekend and set it to City 1. Very controllable. For me, the PC is a convenience accessory that makes driving the Runner better and more fun. I hated that crappy OEM throttle response. Later! Enjoy your PC.
That’s awesome, congratulations on that sweet ride! I’m testing it out but so far so good, will report back soon. Thank you for sharing your finds. Thank you for your support!
I have a 21 Tacoma off-road and I have one of the pedal commanders on it. It definitely needs it! It’s a slug. We just bought a 22 4Runner off-road on June 1st and it’s my 1st 4Runner and I love it! In my opinion I don’t think it needs one but the Tacoma sucks without it. If I would’ve driven a 4Runner before I purchased my 21 Tacoma I would’ve never bought it! I love my Toyotas but the 4Runner wins out every time! Love the channel and can’t wait to see part 2!
I think the key to you getting a fuel economy improvement is to drive it normally. If you can get 19.2 out of yours, obviously you know how to drive for good fuel economy. So just keep up with those habits, and I think you probably will see a improvement. However, putting it in one of the sport modes and enjoying the better feeling acceleration will definitely negatively impact your mileage.
Those do work. I know a good bit of people with them on Lexus is350/ and a few other cars who say it did make a difference in power delivery. It changed the way the car picks up on initial acceleration and most of them were going after acceleration gains.
I bought sprint boost for my 4 runner. unreal the difference but i will say i hurts your gas mileage. but i can turn it on or off so i just turn it on when i need extra boost.
@@VikingsGarage i was skeptical at 1st but the improvement is noticeable right away. does this hurt the engine? i know it hurts gas consumption. ill be watching for update
get sprint boost best money i spent on my 4 runner. you can turn it on when needed i mostly have it off. if you are buying it to help fuel economy you are a fool. but it definitely gives you a boost in acceleration when you need it.
Nice ... gotta say though I do not see buying this for the ECO mode being worth it at all , the 4Runner is lazy enough from the factory. I find it mostly for drivability and being able to have a responsive gas pedal instead of a lazy @ss one :- ) I DO drive with a light foot, and lately very light with the gas prices, I find my MPG's no worse at all than before I added it , but the thing is driveability, that when I need to merge into traffic or get out of the way quicker.. or get in front of another vehicle it's a whole lot better than stock mine set on city + 2 or 3 setting... I am looking forward to how you see it for comparison and also for what you find with your scan-tool. Just wanted to point out that for eco-mode.. probably not going to save much. If it does I imaging the vehicle will feel like a snail heading uphill ...LOL ! Happy testing. btw, Try the app if you have an iphone, beats craning your neck to see the unit.
In a weird way, the Eco mode almost makes it feel more powerful, under certain situations. There's a few hills on my way to work that it generally wants to downshift on, however, when I put it in eco mode it prevents the downshift, which makes it feel like maybe it has more torque that lets it climb the hill without downshifting. I realize this makes zero additional horsepower or torque, but it just gives that illusion. On the other hand, merging into traffic or getting on the highway is definitely slower in eco, unless you are foot to the floor.
Thanks for taking the time (and your hard-earned money) to make this video. Here is a good comparison of the PC vs SBv3 throttle response devices: th-cam.com/video/YBtP0QgsamM/w-d-xo.html and: th-cam.com/video/1EkDzsSqRg4/w-d-xo.html I've tried both in my vehicle and sold the PC on EB. There really is a difference. YMMV.

This is what I’ve been warning people about. 💪🏻

That’s awesome, thank you! Do stay tune as this will probably be a 3 part series. 😉

The acceleration/shifting on the Tacoma is not that great.
I appreciate you!
Congratulations on your new 4runner!
Also make sure to keep the wires away from the heater core lines (shiny silver tubes above the gas pedal)
I honestly figured people would know that, excellent point. Or away from the steering shaft.🤷🏼♂️
Excellent video. I have had a Pedal Commander for almost 2 years. So, I am interested to see your next video. Cheers!
Will live with it for at least 2 weeks before giving it my final thoughts. 👍🏻
@@VikingsGarage 2 weeeeeeeks! Lol 😂 dang man that’s going to feel like forever on us lol.
Great video as always. I'd definitely rename the video so that it shows up in searches- you're leaving a lot of views on the table!
Your probably right, let me work on that.
Thank you so much for pointing that out, I totally forgot to give it a tittle before 🤦🏼♂️
All fixed 🤟🏻

I think the key with it is for improvement of acceleration, as for fuel economy so far… it’s been scary to drive in Economy mode. 🤷🏼♂️
People complain about the 4runner being slow. Thr issue really is the command response. It's soo mushy
True.
Good work! I'm here to help with the algorithm!
Thank you!
That Algorithm is keeping me with low views/ratings 🤷🏼♂️

W’ll find out, soon enough. Thank you for watching!
I can agree that if I didnt really control my foot the PC would hurt mpg's for sure just like your SB unit.

Noted. 👍🏻
I have a 21 trd pro and I cannot get about 14 city not even close to even 300 miles on a tank. What r u doing?
You might want to get this device, spoiler alert for part2. But first watch :

Will do, I appreciate you sharing your input and thoughts.
I’m eager myself to see what it actually does.

I’m experiencing some very good insight on ECO but will reveal it all on the next video.
I have a unrelated question. Would there be a benefit to installing a oil catch can on my Toyota Fj with the 1grfe engine?? 🤔
A oil catch can as long as it’s properly installed won’t hurt. The question is, why you want to install it in an FJ Cruiser?
👍
Waiting with bated breath!

Sport plus mode = more responsive and worse fuel economy.
Will try that in fill up number 2. Will report soon 😉
