i just want to let you know this beautiful jeep brought tears to my eyes.
Awesome build that parts list is exactly what I've been dreaming of
One of the best looking TJ's I've seen in a long time............great job!!!!
That thing is just sick...chirping each gear, nice!
Ahh this is funny. I was just reading your build last night randomly. Now i find a video of your jeep... I saw "LS2" and clicked and there it was! haha nice TJ!
Bad to the bone! Yeah, love the 30mph sign... Would like to see more of this jeep performing
@CoDkiller1011 Actually the stock inline six is heavy as hell. A very popular swap is to an aluminum v8 which weighs as much as the iron inline six.
Being personal friends with the Curries i trust what they do to their jeeps
nice man! i havent looked but i hope to see some videos of it off road! u did a GOOD JOB!
damn second and even third gear scratch that is badass
this is awesome, would love to put a v8 in my yj, nice job!!
One real badass jeep love it
snow runs would be sooo much fun
I like how you burn the tires through third gear!! HELL YA OIIIIIO!!!!!
My life would be complete with this jeep.
Very sweet machine.
@offroad188 No, the wheel base is not extended. If you are going to go with 37" tires you really need to do a lot more work than a lift. Gears for the differentials will be needed badly. Also depending on what axle you have in the back, you would need to either beef it up, or just do a gear swap. The dana 35 that most jeeps come with will not hold up to 37" tires for long before something breaks.
Wow, that's sick! That's an awesome conversion but at the same time you gotta respect the power or it will bite back... I'd luv to own one...
just wanted to say that jeep is bad ass and i like it even better because it's chevy powered!
Chirped third. Very nice.
nice setup I've been wanting to drop a v8 in my 98 wrangler
Bad ASS! Nice Jeep! I would love swap a V8 into mine.
God Dam!!!! I need that V8 in my YJ too!!!
@kowz4u I forgot who made mine, but the SRC Front Grille Guard Bumper by Smittybilt is prettty much the same thing, as mine was a knock of of that popular design,.I got mine for cheaper, but that one can be had for about $250 I like it, gives a good place for lights, and to tie down a shovel and axe to the front, and my warn fits like a glove.
@MrBabyjesus1129,
Im doing this conversion myself with the ax-15 and the adapter from novak, im dropping in a 350 smallblock it should work ive even driven a jeep with this particular conversion and its great
Now I've got a better idea of what I've got to look forward to. My '99 TJ is getting a TBI 350 V-8, 700R4 auto trans, Dana 60's, 4.88's, detroit\ARB on 35 bfg mt's. I can't wait..!
@MrBabyjesus1129 Its an NV4500 tranny built by a company called Mantrans. Custom bellhousing and input shaft were used.
wow dude nice jeep.
this would look great next to my ls2 trailblazer ss in the driveway!!!
lol i bet that thing is "unsafely fast" if that is even a word, awesome work on that jeep, very nice
god shes amazing
@Jeepfan4x4 The jeep runs great around town. It actually get better gas mileage and the drive-ability is much better. The only issue I have is that I got a detroit locker in the rear, and it annoys me some times, and isnt the greatest one ice/wet roads or snow. Other than that its great. Make sure you do your research, and read everything you can before you start any kind of project like this. Go to the link in the description, and learn from my mistakes
@curlee187 They custom built it to my specks, and are a great company to work with. I beleive all together I paid like 3600 for it, with the cable shift linkage and dual sticks, and everything needed to bolt it up. I dont know if you plan on pulling one from a dodge or whatever, but if you hook it to a chevy motor you will have to change the input shaft. let me know if you have any more questions, and read my thread on jeep forum for most of the info. its in the description
@curlee187 No shit! no one reads the descriptions before they run their mouth! I dont blame you about modifying the body, that shit takes too long and the urge to play is far to great to overcome! LOL you got one hell of a jeep I had to laugh when i saw the 30mph sign! keep it up.
man, dont ever try to put Gullwing doors on it or it will fly! lol Awesome Jeep dude, lovin it!
that semms like a pretty high gear sounds like it may need to go a little bit lower with the gear if its the t56 trans but it sounds and runs good congrats on the build
@curlee187 Ahhh. That's acceptable, I personally don't like BLs, but if I was in that position I would have done the same, rather than hack the trans tunnel. It's pretty damn hard to find the time, place, and money to do motor swaps, so I can understand ya going to a shop. And thanks for serving! You should get that beast on Jeepforum!!!
it deals with the roll out, a 37" tire takes more area to make one complete roll then a 31" tire would
have yet to get a 0-60 time, but my best 1/4 mile was 15.6 seconds. That was before I bored it and stroked it to 402cu.
yeah i agree with you their, i wish i had a jeep, but my dad does, its an 05 wrangler with ford 9" axles and 4:56 gearing w/36" irock tires, it gets 5mpg lol
its a 5.5 rubicon express long arm lift and a 3" body lift. Didnt really want the body lift, but Ive gotten used to it. And those are 37" super swampers.
I used to have an AMC Jeep CJ7 with a Chevy 327 V8. I could chirp the 33'' mudders in all four gears. The trans. bell housing kept cracking though.
@bmays004 It shifts like a truck transmission...because it is. Its got a long throw and you have to make sure you have the clutch fully disengaged before you shift into the next gear or it will grind. Especially from 1st to second. But seeing as first is such a low gear, when Im driving or even racing it i take off in second for the most part. Its not a race transmission by any means, but its beefy as hell, and can take a beating. I got mine from mantrans.
@offroad188 as long as you regear to match the tires youll be fine
I've got a couple of questions. I am almost ready to start my LS1 into a TJ Swap. I "think" I have all my parts, but I noticed that I overlooked a couple things tonight. My LS1 power steering has a third line on the resevoir. Is the just supposed to be some kind of a vent? I have read that I can use a 2003 wrangle high pressure line for a direct fit, but the this third hose is throwing me for a curve ball. My next question.......What did you do about the engine oil cooler lines?
BEAST!!! Guessing 36" Iroks? Barks them hitting 3rd...
dude what exhaust is that i love how it sounds when you shift
that's awesome some by the way is this in El paso I'm planning on doing this to my MJ where the shop located
nice jeep that's all there is to it...
@curlee187 take a look at jeep forum and read. You most likely have a dana 35 in the back, for a differential, like I said, and It will not hold up long to the abuse that 37" tires will cause. If you have a dana 44 in the back you might be able to get away with it. I highly suggest you do a gear swap to something like 4.88 or 5.13 depending if you have the manual transmission or the automatic. Otherwise you will HATE driving it, and it wont be any better off road, because you will have no power
So so, SICKKKK
hey quick question...i might pick up this 85 jeep compound 1st lockers front, back 8" lift springs over axles lift, custom steering send joints all heavy duty, no rust, 350 crate motor, sm465 4speed, no rust, its super clean....i dont know much about jeeps so just curious if u know anything i should look for or anything i should know before I buy it...pls give me some advice...thatnks
@kowz4u Its a bumper made by Ares I think? I think its a rip off of some other bumber made by rough country maybe? Not really sure. And it was actually surprisingly cheap.
@raginroadrunner Alright, then what would you consider to be a quality engine swap for this car?
hey awesome jeep man.. how did you do your exhaust? and what kind is it?
damn...chirpin in 3rd. thats what im talkin about
@joseph7118 speed limits are ment to be broken
what transfer case do you have paired up to the NV4500?
Wow!.nice
is the ride loud at all? just like normal highway and street driving?
Does the jeep run fine down the highway and around town? cause if i did this i would want it as an upgrade from an old 4.2 in an 89 Wrangler. Off roading yes, but getting from point A to B
If you go on jeep forum and look at the tech sections you can find people who stroke the inline 6 to a 4.7 or 4.8 liter and/or put a super charger on them. You wont be reaching 460 hp though.
What's the engine you have in it?
trade my stock TJ, and 3 cows lol.. haha nice ride dude.. well done !!
holy shit.
@CoDkiller1011 If you geared it like he did (w/ 1st being such a low gear ratio) it'd be pretty damn torquey offroad. I just wanna know why the 3" Body lift...
Its a 97 jeep, and the motor is from a 2005 corvette
well done !! is it for sale ?
"speed limit 30"
lol
@stayXbrutal78 Mall crawler my ass. I didnt dump all my money into it to just play around at the mall. And it is by no means shiny and prettty. I beat the hell out of it off road. Go to the link and look at the pictures. Yes I do have a lot of lift and want to the body lift off, but right now that isnt an option. When you build something comparable come talk to me. For everyone else thanks for the support.
is that really a 5.5 lift and 37 tires as it says in jeepforum..the lift seems to big and the tires smaller...
did you convert to a cable driven throttle body or stayed with electric?
IFELLONYOURMOM converted to cable driven throttle with a holly throttle body and a TPS from a GTO.
what bumper is that. and was it real pricey .
What mufflers do you got ?
Cool toy
He chirped them in third!
@2JSC It is a 3 inch body lift and was necessary to fit the transmission without doing major modifications to the body. It is plainly described in the video description AND in the link accompanying it. YOU fail at reading and observations.
wat size lift is on that??
that is fucking awesome
fuckin sick jeep man
dude what's the 0-60 on that thing?
@raginroadrunner gotta love people who talk shit about an engine they obviously havent owned just read a few blogs on the net where people talked shit
Awesome!
Wait a body lift?
Pretty Cool!
Other than that its a sweet rig.
@trac0808 Im highly confused.... Was that directed at me?
still in ep?
@MrJeepin420style ya 37 are a little bigger than what i have i just get mad at all the people putting down this jeep because if he has the money to put in the ls2 then he obviously built the rest of it right
@trac0808 37's are frigin huge are you crazy maybe not when compaired to big foot
how fast is it? ie 0-60 or 1/4 mile
if this is its first run why didnt you run the engine in??
how much of a lift on that jeep
its not about speed, its about the torque, also bigger tires get you up to speed slower, but give you more top end. opposite with your tiny ass 31's.
@stayXbrutal78 Thats great that you are an LCG guy. We all have different tastes. And I DO agree it is too much lift. I have already flopped it on its side due to over confidence, lack of a spotter, and too much lift. To sit here a berate me with you opinion of what a jeep should be is asinine. Once my father removes his car from the garage Im tearing the whole thing down and redoing it. Lets agree to disagree, and move on. We both have a passion jeeps, so lust just embrace that.
its not speed he wanted its torque and power....sick jeep either way
I wish engine swaps could be easy to do in California
rigel orozco they are .there very simple actually\
december's jp mag builds a 680 hp inline 6 forget the torque but i think it's over 700
@BSMEPilot Yup 4 wheel center lol
well yeah, a 2004 TJ..
i just like the idea you loaded your Jeep with a V8, nothing beats that..hehe.. did you swap your axles? ?
@curlee187 no sorry i like the jeep the comment was directed at the guy who said youre jeep is not built right and you gotta stretch it and get bigger axles when if he only read the description would see you have dana 60s sorry for the confusion
Just a little bit over 30mph.
can you post a link to the build thread please? the one in the description isn't working :(
Be warned, its long.
www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/ls2-my-97-wrangler-pics-540376/
curlee187 man that thread is awesome it's pure gold haha how's the jeep doing now? any new videos doing a walk around? I'm hoping on swapping my 2.5 L as well I don't know for what though...
Yes, its street legal, and its a daily driver
