If smell isn't a factor, like with my grow, would it not make sense to just completely omit the carbon filter entirely? I do almost the same setup with positive pressure. I have my tent out in my garage which in the summer can get pretty hot here in AZ but I have a duct with inline fan pushing air from my house into my tent. The wall plate the duct connects too in the house has a 1/2 thick activated carbon fiber pad filtering my intake air. Nice and clean, no bugs get in and cool air forced into the tent. Inside the tent is another duct with inline fan to pull hot air up and out the top. I have my humidifier hose injecting moisture into the intake duct just before it enters the tent to help better pre humidify the cool air as well. All inline fans are running pretty low with the intake fan pushing a little harder to slightly inflate my tent creating pos pressure. It works amazing!! Even on the hottest days it stays roughly 77-78F.
Yeah in your situation you could easily get rid of it I run a 4x4 without a filter 24/7 some people just don’t keep up with cleanliness so if you do get that filter out you’ll be just fine
i have a 4x4 with it inside i get big negative pressure but i bought bars to hold the tent out. i have a 2x2. now and i have to put the filter on the outside now
Best way is to install a 4” t fitting on the suction inlet of the fan with media filter over the hole to suck air from lung room . The discharge side send mixed air back into the tent while not loosing the carbon filter inside your tent . I keep my inline fan on top of my grow tent only thing inside my tent is the carbon filter and light .
@@UnknownEntity369 place the inline fan on top of the tent ,on inlet side of fan install a 4x4x4 sheet metal T FITTING OR Y FITTING .install piece of media filter over the hole 🕳️ that’s not going to be used . And let the lung rom cool air get sucked into the tent and back out the carbon filter .
Hello, looks interesting! I am a beginner with zero knowledge about air conditioning. I have 4 light-blocking passive intake holes near the floor to decompress the tent and let more air in, exhaust fan on the top of the tent sucking through the carbon filter inside the tent - a common setup that Secret jardin company advertise .. So the cool air comes from my room floor area. Still I am not satisfied about the efficiency of cooling the tent. Once I open half of the door of the tent it gets much cooler, but I dont want to keep opening and closing all the time, of course. So I am hesitating between trying your setup (and closing the holes) or just making more passive intake holes near the floor in my setup. Also my setup is probably worse for smell control (I have not verified it yet). Generally speaking, what is the efficiency of your setup, compared to mine? Could the exhaust fan be running at significantly lower speed for keeping the same temperature? Regards, Petr
This does absolutely nothing for smell, in fact youre. pushing the smell forcefully out of the tent. Its also not fresh air considering you're recirculating the air back into the room.
Like I said in the video this is not the most efficient way to control smell. It’s not for smell really at all. Yes it helps and no the air does not recirculate if you ventilate your lung room properly but that’s another topic that wasn’t being discussed here this one’s how to ventilate a grow tent not your lung room….
@florganicsorganics they don't listen. Too busy trying to make someone out to be wrong with the way they do things...I appreciate your info! Food for thought
The fan and carbon filter doesnt affect the amount of terpenes in the plant at all. The reason the smell increased is because now the filter is outside the tent, so when you open it you're getting all the terps right in your face as opposed to opening a tent where theres a filter inside scrubbing the smell. Its common sense. Do you really think moving the fan/filter to oustide of the tent actually has any effect on the amount of terpenes in the plant itself 😂😂😂
Exactly like these people design this shit the way it is for a reason I would want that old air being sucked out atleast with another inline fan inside the tent not being forced out lol
Yea I been running like this and depending on the king room will effect the performance of fan like me I’m in a basement and my house smells up stair to the 2nd floor lol definitely need a scrubber but not rely worried either I’m In Pa hopefully this yr will go rec Florida and Pa is next they say…
Yes but be careful with the lights on outside the tent when it’s supposed to be lights off in the tent. That big opening will let in a good bit of light
Filter belongs in the tent sucking air thru the vents...This is why..The air moves thru the leaves from the bottom vents like foliar feeding then all the smell goes into the filter thats inside the tent on top...everything is moving from bottom to top.You dont need a fan inside the tent if you have the vents open on the bottom and the Filter, motor inside the top on the tent moving air
I’m trying to figure this all out. Outdoors for me so far. I’m leaning more toward filter and fan inside the tent but I’m curious if I leave the vents open at the bottom of my tent , what about light leaks ? But if I have the tent completely sealed how is the fan exhausting without a return? Thanks in advance for any info you or anyone can help me with . In other words how do I get good exhaust without light leaks ?
@@chrismarsh2649grab more flexible ducting hoses long enough to put through bottom vent that way light won’t reach nd air can be sucked in from bottom and blown out top from the filter

That your grow methods. Nothing to do with a filter.. the filter doesn't take smell from plants, it's filters it out the air upon extraction.. high humidity tents and dry rooms will be much more likely of a cause for everything to taste the same.. or it's not being cured properly
I like your setup man, currently pulling outdoor air through a carbon to ease the stress of humidifying and heating it all feels like a rube goldberg machine and the biggest irony of it all is that my outdoor temps + rh are perfect. I understand how keeping more terps around your plant could definitely affect the dankness. Wish i could afford this luxury but i think for now im stuck dumping my oils outdoors 😓. Either way I’ve changed my grow method and I’m having great luck with the growth and vigor through veg hopefully we can keep up through flower. Happy growing man ❤
I'm totally new to this stuff. I understand you're forcing fresh, filtered air into the tent. But apparently, there's no fan pushing the trapped, stale air out of the tent....it's just positive pressure, right? I'm just setting up an indoor Vivosun tent for some herbs and a tomato plant. Perhaps you could help me to understand why there's no need to push out or exhaust the "old air" from the tent. Thanks.
mould and mildew ariving soon - with that high humidity , if your having the filter outside ( for more room ) blow the tent into it, open the vents so you dont suck the tent in , and your temp is low - 26.5 is what you need - 69 is about 20 - 21
The carbon filter works more efficiently the other way, think filter area. The pre-filter is pointless your way but you're using it anyway. If you're worried about losing terps, they are going to be in the airflow through the filter either way. Thinking the filter in the tent sucks terps is nonsense. That set up you have there is ridiculous Put the filter in the tent, duct it to the fan sitting on top. No duct is necessary on the outlet of the fan.
