Why is Max acting like Kobe wasn’t a great defender? I know Kawhi is an elite defender but Kobe was on the All-Defensive FIRST Team 9 times, just as much as MJ... Kobe really gets no respect.

Kawhi has been the best 2 way player for a few years now. Kobe Bryant was never on that level. He was decent but not great when it comes to defense. Not close to Kawhi . Back to back defense of the year is elite. That's great. LOL

That's because Kobe had played like 10 years before kawhi and immediately inserted into a take as many shots as you want role....which he does and he has a pretty low percentage. Kobe played for like 20 years -- obviously throughout that time getting tons of opportunities to take last shots, he's going to make a good amount. But people obviously don't remember that enormous amount of last shots he missed. Kobe missed 16 straight game tying or go ahead last shots in a row. SIXTEEN. I didn't even know that was possible

Terrance McLean ratings are always down when there isn’t a great dominant team or player. Jordan era didn’t have much parity, but ratings were quite high then in the 2000’s ratings were down until Lebron arrived. Generally speaking tho the league is doing better than ever it’s just that some people are not really basketball fans and will only watch when they believe history will be made, basketball fans tho watch whatever happens.
This year playoffs have been more open then they’ve been in the last 10 years and as a long time NBA fan I think it’s great, fuck the ratings, I enjoyed watching the Pistons and Spurs win way more than I did watching the Heat and Warriors.

Then has one regular Season MVP even though he got robbed when they gave it to the great Steve Nash for what he did with the Suns. 17 time All Star, 9 All NBA Defensive selection & Record, 1997 Slam Dunk champ, 81 point game, 12 All Defensive team, 12 threes, 2 Olympic Gold medals, 60 in Finale. Kobe used to wait til the 4th quarter at a certain point he'd just make 3 to 5 straight shots on u consecutively.. Double teamed or not.. They called him "The Closer" Teams do not fear Kawhi like they did Kobe.. Defenses were build to stop that man lol.. Ppl don't understand single coverage would mean 50.. He dropped 30 to 40 on double teams like nothing

    • @ooSyzygy

Single coverage actually means 81. The raptors coach tried to make a point that they didn't need to double team and the rest is... well history.
People also forget he would make several shots in a row, late game, to get his team even within a possession just to fall short. That counts as a failure in crunch time when in reality it was entirely his will to win that even got them in position.

@@charlesreed8739 alright 5 rings.. 1 three peat.. 2 where he had only Paul Gasol as memorable mention.. Kawhi's ring barely even count when you have Time Duncan, Ginobli and Parker on your team.. And already a championship team.
When Shaq left, he still won 2 championships... Kobe was 27 years old and scored 15,000 points. Kawhi has 8,250 points at 27.
Kobe scored 81 points in a single game. With the current rules nowadays, he'd drop 100. Post-Season he has scored 50. Probably equate to 60+ nowadays.
Kawhi has the potential, but to compare 1 post season/season body of work to Kobe is just not possible. If I were to also pick 1 Kobe season and Post-Season to this year with Kawhi, I'd pick Kobe.
Kobe has also plenty of clutch shots in a season/post-season. I'm talking about last 5 minutes, they're losing and Kobe took over the offense. Everybody knew he was going to shoot and he took them.
Kawhi in no way is a better player than a prime Kobe. Only way that Kawhi is better at is defense. That's what he got an MVP for 😂.. because he stopped LeBron from scoring over 28 points.. right now Kawhi is showing greatness.. just a glimpse.. but to say he's better than Kobe in clutch situations? Too many variables exist in the careers of these 2 great players to have this conversation. To Stephen A's point, Kawhi hasn't been in high stakes moments comparable with Mamba. Their approaches, position, external expectations, systems, opposition, and identities are, at this juncture, impossible to equate.

Numbers dont mean anything. We all know you can make numbers say anything you want. Look at LBJ he has all the numbers on paper, you would expect he has more than 3 rings just by LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS. Finals appearances, finals in a row, fg%, mvps, postseason go ahead shots. Put his stats next to Kobe and Jordan and reveale the rings for those 2 then ask how many rings LBJ has..
well the NUMBERS would suggest he has at least what the other two have or more than both. But REALITY is he has 3. So I dont give a damn about perception, which is what this world mainly focuses on. I care about reality, what my eyes show me! not this money ball analytics well numbers say. just because it won some championships in baseball that way, now it's the wave of the future and melo cant fit on a team anymore because were going away from how the game is played and switching to money ball and eliminate the midrange ect ect ect
