    REVOLUTION AND OR CESSATION LOADING. I pity my beloved country Kenya. We have to revolt. Kenya shall not be ruled by only two tribes. When Rigathi and Ruto were campaigning from 2013 to 2022, they had already stolen and knew that the economy was dilapidated. Ruto and Rigathi claimed that the economy collapsed between 2018 and 2022 (after "handshake"), forgetting that they were in leadership between 2013 to 2017. They must keep the promises or else REVOLUTION or CESSATION. REVOLUTION COMING MY FELLOW KENYANS. VIVA PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF KENYA. Please like if you support Peoples Republic of Kenya (PRK).

    The issue should be put into a referendum as it is an existential issue and it is too important to be left to a few people who can be easily influenced to decide. There is a good reason why the EU banned this type of agriculture.

      No, there are no Bt bananas, cassavas, or sorghum. There were once Bt potatoes but they were abandoned, which is too bad because they were easier to grow and didn't need to be sprayed with pesticides to get decent yield. Irish potatoes seems an odd thing to say. Potatoes originated in Peru, not Ireland. When I think of potatoes in Ireland I think of the famine when a fungus called Phytopthora infestans wiped out the corp and starvation wiped out the people. That could happen again, but we now can produce varieties of potatoes which are immune to that fungus.

    The issue of insulin is well controlled but GMOs in plants would lead to eradication of indigenous species through cross pollination.

      @davidadcock3382 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your post is ignorant Robert.

    • @charlesmrader
      @charlesmrader ปีที่แล้ว

      Let's carefully distinguish between eradication of native species and bringing new genes into indigenous species.
      There is no indigenous species of maize in Kenya. GMO maize cannot crossbreed with any wild plant unless it is very closely related to maize. So there's no issue about indigenous species for eradication. But what about other varieties of maize, also non-indigenous but not GMO. The nation has to decide by democratic methods whether this is a potential problem. Suppose it is decided that cross-pollination is an unwanted thing.
      Then it has to be prevented. But that doesn't necessarily mean a ban. Cross pollination can be prevented in many other ways. If the GMO and non-GMO maize are grown a few thousand meters apart, there won't be significant cross pollination. If the GMO strain of maize produces pollen in May and the non-GMO strain of maize produced pollen only in June, you won't have cross-pollination.
      In the major western countries where maize is an important crop, even before GMO maize was invented, almost all the maize grown was hybrid maize. To grow the seeds of hybrid maize, a cross between two different strains, the seed grower has to prevent uncontrolled cross-pollination. There's more than a hundred years of experience in doing that. It's not easy, but it is practical and the superiority of hybrid crops make the effort worth it.

    Not solving but causing cancers??

    • @charlesmrader
      @charlesmrader ปีที่แล้ว

      GMO foods were first introduced in the United States around 1993 and became common around 1996. Between 1975 and 1992, the rate of cancer in the US went up a lot, steadily increasing from year to year. But 1993 was the peak year. Since 1993, the rate of cancer cases has decreased, rather steadily. I doubt that GMO foods cause cancer rates to decrease, but the idea that GMO foods cause cancer to increase is hard to understand. What evidence we have is just the opposite of that.
      The experimental evidence of a causal relationship between GMO maize and cancer in laboratory rats is a tricky fake experiment by a scientist who was trying to prove the impossible. He chose to experiment with a variety of rat which had been bred specifically to have a susceptibility to cancer! The are called Sprague Dawley rats. Why did anyone breed such rats? Well, there are scientists who test various drugs to see if they can cure cancer. It would be many times more expensive to do such drug trials with rats that mostly live out their lives without cancer. So the Sprague Dawley rats serve a purpose. But if you are trying to see if some food or drug CAUSES cancer, this would be the worst possible kind of rat to use in the experiment since most of those rats would get the cancer anyway.

    BT cotton(GMO) has not worked well in India. It's been very costly financially, bankrupting many subsistence farmers and otherwise indebting most of them. They have to use their meager earnings or borrow, most of the time, to purchase seed and other inputs- pesticides, fertilizers. Many of these farmers end up committing suicide, usually by drinking the pesticides.
    Before GMO introduction, these farmers used to save their own seed and use it for the next crop. Now Monsanto or Bayer owns the seed rights. Most GMO seeds are can only be used ones hence the name ' cons:

      Are you thinking that only GMO crops experience mutations? Let me assure you that you, like every human being, have a few genes (out of many thousands) which you didn't inherit from either parent. Those are mutated. That's how things are. Occasionally a mutation is a good thing and sometimes it makes no difference at all, and sometimes it is harmful.

    when you hear Kenyans talking about how GMO is not Good you can think they have done a research about it! instead they know nothing about Biotechnology....Cancer has been here without Gmo products... indeed biotechnology is the change we seek.
