Great video Freddie. Glad you found a quality garage to do the work. I've recently purchased a '94 Yamaha Diversion 900 and needed some work doing on the carbs, but many of my local, reputable, garages won't touch it as they don't have the experience, which they were honest with me about. Worked out well though, as found this old school place run by two bikers in a building off the side of one of their houses - like you found, it was immaculate, the work was done quickly with no drama and it was a clear £40 p/hour labour which is good value these days. If anyone needs their bike doing in West Yorkshire I can recommend Odsal Motorcycles. Best of luck with your trip!!

This is such an interesting point James- the skill of working on carbs is starting to die out😳
I’ll pin this comment. £40p/h is extremely reasonable🙌🏻

It's workshops like you found there that keep bikers on the road, honest hard working bikers themsemselves. A lot of garages just don't have the skills or passion to do a good job. Taking your bike to a garage is like taking your kids to a nursey for the first time. Maybe when you get back the old bonny will need a good detail to bring back the shine to the sand heat tanrished paint 😃

    I like the quote
"If you want it doing cheaply - do it yourself.
If you can't do it yourself - don't moan about the bill."
Makes me thankful that the labour cost of motorcycle servicing in Indonesia is dirt cheap (on 250 cc displacement and below, never owned the big bike because that darn expensive luxury and yearly tax)
When comes to changing the tire, it's comes free with the installation when buying directly on the tire specialist shop.

Those 250s were what we had as teenagers back in the 1980s. That was the biggest bike you could have here in Jersey at the age of 17, of course now it would be a 125cc. The two-stroke 250s were more comparable to modern four-stroke 500s but had a proper power band (TZR and TDR especially).

Love the.... ' If you want it doing cheaper do it yourself ' sign 🤣
Recently went to a garage to have a full set of All Season tyres fitted and there was a guy in there arguing that he wanted every available discount applied to his bill.
The garage said it was company policy to just add the best one which I agreed with and told the argumentative punter that the service he was getting before the discount was already half that of the main dealer.
There was some serious chain and sprocket neglect going on in this vlog 😮
Having covered 90,000 miles in my current vehicle that has no spare I've had to call upon a can of tyre sealant more than once .
They work fine but there is a downside , once used and transported you to a place of safety your tyre is now dead and will need replacing as they won't repair a tyre that's had this injected in them , possibly crossing a desert they may make an exeption 😂

Those 250 and 400 cbr's are, I think, are japanese imports. Most of the main japanese manufactures did them. Sheffield England. Ps jolly good luck on your trip old bean.

First came across your videos when I was thinking of adding a Gen 1 Street Triple to my (small) collection, watched your review and had to have one. I now have a low mileage, completely original bike identical to the one you reviewed. Absolutely love the bike, thanks to your beautifully produced video Freddie!

I will pay 25 dollars for them to do it. I don't need to wash my hands at the end and use three band-aids. Lol. I will see if I can get my bikes up to speed and hop across the pond and use these guys. That detail room is also amazing!

Awwww Freddie so you are a survivor of the youth bikes too...I think maybe young riders should be made to do track time to get the speed demon out of their blood and a bit of asphalt on their ass without a car fender for a smile....a time or two sliding down the asphalt at the track should get them thinking right. If they like it save the crazy stuff for the race track and be cool on the road...25 seems a great deal for a tire swap and balance...Great video Freddie thanks...

You were 28 when you bought the Speed Triple? Jeez, I had you down as being about 25 now! You're right about certain bikes "bringing out the animal in you"! I remember a mate's KR1S, the Kawasaki 2 stroke 250. That was a complete widow-maker. No way on Earth to ride it sensibly!

Proper Motorcycle mechanics/engineers are dwindling. Its very worrying. Its amazing how many have shut when I think how many shops were going by me 30 yrs ago. Not many will touch carbs now. There’s plenty of u tube vlogs to help you do it yourself. For refitting dynotune are excellent. When I worked at a local college we had one of those motorcycle ramps which I used towork on my motorcycles and scooter whilst sat on a stool😂 . No more kneeling or bending, superb. Monica will make that flat beautiful methinks. Good luck with Africa. I know you have prob thought of everything but I have recently bought a rechargeable mini tyre compressor. Its 8” x3” and on full charge can do 3 motorcylce tyres. Charged by usb port so would work with euro plug but v handy if you have puncture and small to store. Plenty on e bay for £25. Just an idea. I wish I had the youth and energy to do what you do😂. Looking fwd to those adventures but will miss Monica’s editing
