2016 Maytag MVWX655DW1 Washer - Full Drain & Spin Cycle W/ Off Balance Load

  • My Maytag didn't seem to like this heavy load of rugs and towels! We had to put the load through the drain & spin cycle to get them a little drier after the machine got off balance during the regular wash. Enjoy!

This is extremely fascinating! I've never seen this kind of balancing behavior from any VMW.
Let's recap here... Warning there will be video spoilers in this comment.
Normally, when it comes to balancing these machines will fill with a significant amount of water, agitate, then drain and spin.
This machine... Didn't do that. Instead it filled for a while without actually moving anything around. It then seemed to try spin-draining itself out of the situation.
After failing that once I would have thought it would try to actually do the full balancing routine, but it didn't... It still did this weird fill and spin drain technique, and after multiple attempts it managed to do it... But man is that a bizarre method.
Very fascinating video Andrew, thanks for posting!

This thing did stuff I've never seen any VMW ever do before! I have so many questions rn!

I've owned 6 of these vmw type machines over the years since 2011 and NEVER saw this unbalnce protocol from any of them. Wild to say the least.

Have seen where the suspension rods may be failing.. If the basket/tub feels loose/sloppy or if you push down on it, and it is bouncy...The suspension rods may be to blame. There is a suspension rod kit available to fix this issue... common problem, these wear out.... just like the suspension shocks on your car.. Hope this helps ya..

Is there a video on what causes this and how to fix?

That kind of experience wouldn’t my Mother let me experience back on her Whirlpool WTW5000DW1 ‘cause she’s highly scared of unbalancing Machines, hence part of why she thinks that running the Washers with the Lid open is illegal.
However, I did get a similar experience like that on her Whirlpool WTW6120HC3 back on Monday, 6/26/2023, while it was running on the Bulky Cycle, as it kept unbalancing & rebalancing, plus it almost errored out, even though after all the Balance Rinses that it did, after it finally did a successful Intermediate Spin, it skipped over to Final Spin.

3rd video of your channel! This time the drain and spin cycle! This one is a semi fail because it decided it didn't want to spin full speed. My wf45n5300aw would handle that better!

I’ve had a similar semi-fail on my Mother’s Whirlpool WTW6120HC3 during the Bulky Cycle back on Monday, 6/26/2023, as it kept unbalancing & rebalancing a lot, then after a successful Intermediate Spin, because it did all those Balance Rinses, it skipped to Final Spin.
At that point would the Machine have almost errored out, in which if it did would’ve been a first-time experience on that kind of Machine, since the error-out was never caught back on Kirk Rivas’s Whirlpool WTW6120HW2 ‘cause the Loads that he was doing was more balanced & whatnot.

Do that long enough and you will crack the outer wash tub and damage the balancing ring. I have the same model and thought I can replace the balacing rods then found out the tub and top ring was cracked, after replacing both the spin cycle would spin fine without any clothes in it. The washtub still had balancing fluid in it. To replace the whole wash tub because you just cant buy the balacing ring was to expesive so I kicked it to the curb and rebuild old kenmore 70,80,90 series and have not regret it and will easilly last more than 10 years.

You probably have a bad shift actuator… because I hear a clicking noise when it’s braking

There’s no high spin! This was a surprise.

    • @raptorbirdsfan2024
      @raptorbirdsfan2024 ปีที่แล้ว

Originally, it does do a High Spin, but because of the unbalancing & whatnot did it limit to Medium Spin ‘cause of the Unbalance Sensors.

@@raptorbirdsfan2024 Sounds like LG top loaders. Just ‘cause it go off balance don’t mean it shouldn’t spin up to full speed! Come on, we gotta do better with these machines. Direct Drives woulda never wasted water for off balance loads.
