If you have a 2nd gen TL or CL with transmission issues, and don’t want to manual swap, the AV6 automatic from the 06-07 Accord V6 is a direct plug and play transmission.
Only plug n play for the 00-03 models not the 99 since it is a 4 speed transmission, you would need a different wiring harness but atp might as well js 6-speed swap it
Yeah those were amazing. I loved the Cockpit style interior and blue lights with the 6-6MT. But when the 9th Gen Accord coupe came out with the J35 and 6 speed manual I had to trade her in.
i love my 2004 TL. she has plenty of interior damage and a big scratch in the paint but she’s my favorite car ever. the 3rd gen TL was just so ahead of its time and i feel very lucky to be able to own one of these beautifully designed cars. i loved seeing that ad at the beginning of the 3rd gen section because that silver TL looks just like mine!! (but obviously newer)
For it being Acura's best selling gen, I dont see many 3g TLs on the road where i live. For it being a 14yr+ old gen it still breaks my neck everytime i see mine in the parking lot. A girl I dated thought it was one of Acura's newer models.😂
Great video... U were pretty respectful to that hideous beak they slapped on the 4th gen tl. The refresh looked so much better... The beak only looked good on the zdx...
@@AcuraAdvice I've always been a Honda guy, but even as a teenager when the 4th gen came out, we unanimously agreed they botched the design... Like the bmw buck teeth gril... But the bmw is a better performance car so ppl forgive it
I always liked the TL growing up so when I needed to cheap dad car for school pick up and drop off I picked up a cheap base 05. Of course I had to rebuild the transmission -_- but 2 kids don’t fit in a Miata 😂. I like it and it still looks good even today. My only complaint is that it gets TERRIBLE gas mileage by today’s standards. I’m currently getting 16mpg. Wish I would’ve gotten a type S in manual but prices for cars were nuts when I was shopping around so a base auto it was unfortunately.
True, but I did the Vigor as a seperate video which is also part of the timeline, I kinda thought the video would be too long and ppl wouldnt watch all of it if I crammed all into one.
06 tl with the manual... My favorite car thus far... 220k miles and counting. Checks so many boxes for the price... I totally forgot i had an 02 tl as well...loved that car also, but the thrid gen manual takes the cake.
@@Patphenis the base came with the J32...3.2L v6...258 hrspr... I forget the torque... Red lines at like 6800, but the engine loves to rev. Type s had the 3.5L with 286 hrspr. The 3.2 is enough power to be fun, while getting about 20mpg on premium gas, not killing u at the pump
@@marcjones744 okay cool I have an 06 auto I didn't know they made a base manual. Do you think that would be an easy swap? Otherwise I'm probably going to get an 08 type s
The Acura TL 4th gen is the beginning of my favorite available package for the car: the SH-AWD option. AWD on cars of that size tend to make them drive better in inclement weather and it can reduce some of the understeer that high output FWD cars can experience. It'll still understeer, but it's at a correctable level. I did know that there was a second generation RL and I also thought it looked quite nice, particularly for the time period it was designed. I wish more car companies would go back to using high quality plastics in the interiors, preferably with more hard mounting points hidden beneath the trim so things won't be as prone to rattling apart. I strongly dislike modern interiors which have plastic panels clipped to even more cheap plastic panels.
@@proactivefiresafety954 lolololol... Were u looking for one in particular and waiting for one to come available, or u just so happened to be shopping and found it? I guess 8 years ago, manuals were really dying out until ppl realized they were disappearing and now ppl want them
I just found your Chanel love the videos, I know it's probably not what you would usually do a video about but I think a fit/jazz video would be interesting. Keep up the great videos!
They live on the second generation. Acura TL was ahead of its time. They reminded me of the Knight Rider car AKA kid. They were ahead of their time. They were fast sleek futuristic. There was no other car like them. Too bad about their transmission issue my mom got a second generation Acura TL for her 26th birthday in 1999 and we had the car since brand new. We love that car but unfortunately the transmission finally gave out and honestly we were lucky. Our transmission lasted this long cuz it was the original transmission so those second generation TLS could have shined but if it wasn't for their transmission, the TLS were really ahead of their time and acra was true about their word. Their quest for the best. We had that car since brand new and it the car's name was Floyd name after the hurricane of 1999. Rest in peace Floyd, but the TL name lives on as a powerhouse and and a legend in the history books
I got a 2006 TL for free from my Uncle.Yes it’s just the base model but even the base version is a lot of fun.Truthfully in my opinion Acura should go back to making the 3rd gen TL.I know that will probably not happen but would be cool.
Man the more i look and think about it the 2nd gen acura TL really have a similar looking interior/dash to look like the accord CF4/CL1 sir and euro R where it's foucs on the driver.
2005 is a Great year for me, Bought a 2005 TL New Nav 6spm manual, come to found out the 2002 TL Type S with Automatic was Faster in a drag Race, Back when it 15K only ran 14.8 all day Vs TL Type S 14.7 easily, by 2007 Trade up for MAzda Speed 6, by 2013 Trade up The Speed 6 to Acura TL SHAWD 6spd $44K
Auto transmission problems are because people do not use the parking brake when parking. The original auto transmission of my 06’ base TL is at 400,000 miles and it’s solely because I religiously use the parking brake.

3rd Gen Type S Hands down. Of course i have one now but I've also had a 2004 6-speed and a 2008 Base. Great cars.
My favorite was the 4th gen. Though, i do think the 2nd gen was cool in the design and it's value.

Gen4 the best nd most reliable and most powerful 3.7 sh-AWD especially the a-spec package advanced trim
3rd gen TL🔛🔝🔥. Best design ever! Just swap out the old lights and slightly tweak the body panels a little & there u go its modern car lol

I have a 2013 so the front end is entirely redesigned . It just looks like a wide body in person. The front end looks way better now.
Third gen by far! followed by the second gen. I sold my Type S two years ago.
Im not gonna lie im rocking with the 2nd gen TL but if their is a proper way to manually swap it would be a complete sleeper for sure

Do the crv or odyssey next
